Hard Knocks Episode 5 Recap: The Return of Revis Island

Gang Green Nation — All good things must come to an end. Unfortunately, tonight the fifth episode of HBO's reality series did just that, with an action-packed episode that covered many topics. Regardless, it was great to hear the rationalization behind some roster moves, and how the 53-man roster and practice squad has shaped up to be what it currently is. On to the recap... Opening:" Rex in talking to the team during a pep-talk - "That's what the NY Jets are about.." "Play like a NY Jet." . Cue Mike Tannenbaum's  2nd ...

Richardson discusses his 'day off'

Jets Blog | ESPN New York — There was a moment early in Tuesday's practice when New York Jets coach Rex Ryan walked over to Tony Richardson and pointed to all the photographers and TV cameras on the sideline. "All those guys are here to see you, T Rich," Ryan said. Richardson laughed. Obviously, Darrelle Revis was the focus, but it also marked a return for the starting fullback, who spent one day in unemployment limbo after being released late Sunday. It was the first time since 1994, his rookie year with the Dallas Cowboys, that was he cut by a team. "It definitely caught me off guard," Richardson said. "Obviously, t...

Jets to re-sign Richardson

Green Machine | Bergen Record — Coach Rex Ryan said in his news conference today that the Jets will re-sign FB Tony Richardson, released Sunday. Ryan didn’t quite explain why the Jets released him yesterday, but did note that the Jets will have a roster exemption [believed to be for two weeks] for former holdout Darrelle Revis. That’s good news, as players in the locker room were quite upset about the move. This should allay a lot of hurt feelings. As for Revis, Rex said he doesn’t expect him to come off the field while the Jets are on defense against Baltimore on Monday. About the deal, Ryan called it a ‘great compromise’ a...

Revis not here yet

Green Machine | Bergen Record — No sign of Darrelle Revis yet, although he tweeted that he has landed at the airport, so he should be at the Jets’ complex sometime today to cross the Ts [Mr. Ts?] and dot the Is on his new four-year deal. Will be a busy day here, as there also is an internet report that FB Tony Richardson will be re-signed. Also, a little housekeeping, as former coach Eric Mangini used to say. I’ve been told by an NFL source that the Jets made an NFL-high seven waiver claims Sunday. Besides the three players they were awarded, DL Marcus Dixon [Dallas], T Patrick Brown [Minnesota] and WR Patrick Turner [Miami]...
