Buffalo Bills rookie report, Week 5

Buffalo Bills rookie report, Week 5

The 5th rounder out-performed the top 3 picks In Sunday’s crushing loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, the rookies, for the most part, struggled. In a game the Buffalo Bills were supposed to win, the majority of the rookies had a tough time performing at a “playoff caliber” level. CB Tre’Davious White White gave up two huge plays, one that went for a touchdown and another that set the Bengals up inside the 5-yard line, both of which went to star wideout, A.J. Green. Unfortunately for White, those plays paved the way for the Bengals, despite his better-than-average play for the...

NFL Week 5: Bengals’ snap count distribution vs Bills; injuries open up opportunities

NFL Week 5: Bengals’ snap count distribution vs Bills; injuries open up opportunities

Here are the snap count takeaways from the Bengals’ 20-16 victory over the Bills. The Cincinnati Bengals are on a winning streak heading into their bye week after defeating the Buffalo Bills 20-16. It was a battle of attrition though for the Bengals, metaphorically and literally. Several key Bengals went down during the game opening up an opportunity for Bengals’ to get off the bench and onto the field. It was a huge win for the Bengals who are now 2-3 with the two teams ahead of them in the division sitting at 3-2. What once looked like a lost season now has some real promise. It may...

Tyler Boyd injury update: Bengals WR out a few weeks with knee sprain

Tyler Boyd injury update: Bengals WR out a few weeks with knee sprain

This is actually good news after it looked like Tyler Boyd’s knee injury was much more serious. The Cincinnati Bengals and Tyler Boyd appear to have avoided an injury disaster. In their Week 5 win over the Buffalo Bills, the Bengals lost a host of players to various injuries, but the most serious appeared to be that of Boyd, who went down with a knee injury late in the first quarter and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game. That’s usually a bad sign that the injury is serious, especially after he had to be assisted off the field by trainers as he barely put any weight on the...

Buffalo Bills tight end Charles Clay expected to miss at least a month, per report

Nick O’Leary is the new starting tight end in Buffalo Buffalo Bills leading pass catcher Charles Clay went down early in Sunday’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The tight end was hit on the knee after making a catch. Dr. David Chao has reviewed the video and expects Clay to miss a month. “By video, Clay suffered at least a MCL sprain, but there is worry for an ACL tear,” wrote Chao. “At a minimum, the MCL sprain will have him out of several weeks. The worst-case scenario is a season ending ACL tear in addition.” Chao went on to mention that the Bills already know the extent of...

Bengals WR A.J. Green makes no excuses after up-and-down game vs Bills

The Bengals were able to overcome a number of mistakes by their star receiver en route to a 20-16 win over the Bills. If you just look at the stats sheet, A.J. Green had another dominant performance Sunday in helping lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a 20-16 victory over the Buffalo Bills. But sometimes, statistics don’t tell the whole story. Green finished the day with seven receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown. Included in that performance was a 77-yard touchdown reception on the Bengals’ second possession of the game where Green got behind rookie cornerback Tre’Davious White....

Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals: game balls

Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals: game balls

The Bills were in it until the end, but couldn’t come away with a victory The Buffalo Bills were defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The game resembled the other Bills games, good (for the most part) defense and pedestrian offense. Regardless of the outcome, we felt these three Bills deserved some recognition. Offense: WR Brandon Tate There wasn’t a lot to be excited about on offense today. The Bills couldn’t move the ball well at all, especially in the second half. Tight end Charles Clay went out with a knee injury early in the game. Without Clay, quarterback Tyrod Taylor...

Poll: Is the Bengals’ Week 5 win vs Bills a season-changer?

Poll: Is the Bengals’ Week 5 win vs Bills a season-changer?

Things looked very bleak, but now, there’s hope for a special season. If the Cincinnati Bengals had fallen to 1-4 into their Week 6 bye, many would be calling for the heads of Marvin Lewis and Andy Dalton. After showing signs of improvement the past two weeks, it was unclear how the Bengals would fare against the 3-1 Bills and their stout defense. However, Lewis’ squad fought until the final seconds to pull out a 20-16 win to inch to a 2-3 start to the 2017 season. Because of the win, we have to ask if this is a season-changer for Cincinnati. Here’s the thing: is there a powerhouse...

Bills Links, 10/9: Tyrod Taylor, depleted Buffalo offense falter against Cincinnati Bengals

Buffalo comes up short in Cincinnati as offense sputters. After pulling out victories in back-to-back weeks, the Buffalo Bills offense could not make enough plays to get the win on Sunday. There are plenty of questions for discussion including Tyrod Taylor’s play, LeSean McCoy’s struggles, Charles Clay’s injury, the offensive line play, and much more. The Bills now head into the bye week tied for first in the AFC East with the New York Jets and New England Patriots. Visit Buffalo Rumblings throughout the day for more updates and analysis. Bengals Bytes (10/9): Going Green

Green, Bengals find a way to finishSuddenly, The Young and The Winless are only a game out in the AFC North and Andy Dalton is again The Red Rifle instead of the NFL’s red-headed step child after Sunday’s redemptive and riveting 20-16 gut check over the Bills at wash-and-go Paul Brown Stadium. Vontaze Burfict dominant in Bengals’ win over Bills

Vontaze Burfict dominant in Bengals’ win over Bills

Burfict was all over the field, making play after play in the Bengals’ Week 5 win over the Bills. Vontaze Burfict is back! He was, actually, back last week, but he made his presence crystal clear this week as his team-leading 13 tackles and 1 sack played a big role in a strong defensive day for the Bengals against the Bills. Burfict was all over the field making play after play as the Bengals held the Bills to 16 points and a total of 248 yards on offense. LeSean McCoy was held in check, compiling just 63 yards on 19 rushing attempts and the top receiver on the day was tight end Nick...

Joe Mixon scores go-ahead TD, runs out clock in Bengals’ win over Bills

The Bengals are turning their season around by giving Joe Mixon the ball more. The Cincinnati Bengals have been a different team over the last three weeks. While much of that credit goes to new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, a big reason why the offense looks vastly improved is Joe Mixon. Drafted in the second round of this year’s running back-loaded NFL Draft, Mixon was who the Bengals had their eye on for much of the pre-draft process. The expectation was Mixon could receive as many as 20 touches as early as Week 1, but that was not the case. Because the Bengals’ offense was...

NFL Week 5 Bills at Bengals: 4 winners and 3 losers for Cincinnati

There were continued signs of improvement, but familiar issues popped up again in the Bengals’ win over the Bills. It was a hard-fought and sometimes ugly game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills, but Cincinnati grabbed what could have been a season-changing win. The Bengals overcame three gigantic turnovers and poor weather to get past Buffalo, and they head into the bye week with high spirits. Pittsburgh and Cleveland lost earlier in the day, helping the Bengals to climb out of the AFC North cellar and a bit more into the playoff picture. Here are the winners and losers...

Bengals get injury scare with Andy Dalton

Bengals get injury scare with Andy Dalton

It looks like Andy Dalton is alright after suffering what initially looked like a bad ankle injury. The Cincinnati Bengals are holding their breath after watching Andy Dalton get injured. The play happened in the second quarter, where Dalton appeared to have his ankle stepped on by a Bills defender during a pass attempt. After the play, Dalton was badly hobbling around the field before the Bengals had to call a timeout. Dalton would continue to hobble around on the sideline, but after the timeout, he went back to the huddle and ran the next play, a run to Joe Mixon for a first down....

Buffalo Bills 10, Cincinnati Bengals 10: Second half open thread

Injuries are popping up on both sides in this rainy game. Through two quarters, the Buffalo Bills are tied with the Cincinnati Bengals, 10-10. Through a rainy first half, the Bengals took an early lead when AJ Green beat Tre’davious White for a 77 yard touchdown. The Bills settled down after that play, as the teams traded field goals, and converted a Micah Hyde interception from a tipped Andy Dalton pass into a Tyrod Taylor touchdown pass to Brandon Tate. The Bills were able to get the ball back with 2 minutes and three timeouts remaining, but the drive stalled at midfield with fewer than...

Charles Clay leaves Bengals game with apparent left knee injury

It doesn’t look good The Buffalo Bills came into today’s date with the Cincinnati Bengals shorthanded. Late in the first quarter, they lost Charles Clay. The Bills’ tight end appeared to injure his left knee on a long reception from quarterback Tyrod Taylor. His feet tangled with a teammate’s, then he was hit low on the tackle. Clay was unable to put any weight on his left leg while on the sideline. He needed help from two trainers, one under each arm, in order to walk to the blue medical tent on the sideline. Nick Veronica noted that Clay was limping on the sideline after the play....

Buffalo Bills week 5 inactives: John Miller replaced

Vlad Ducasse will start at right guard When the Buffalo Bills take the field against the Cincinnati Bengals today, they’ll do so without three starters. If they want to be 4-1 going into their bye week, they’ll need some reserves to step up once again. The inactive players today are: WR Jordan Matthews We’ve known about this one for some time. Buffalo’s leading outside receiver will miss at least this one and the Bills’ next two contests after the bye with what the team called a “thumb injury.” Buffalo only has 5 wide receivers active today in Zay Jones, Andre Holmes, Kaelin...
