Odell Beckham Jr., J.J. Watt out for season with leg fractures

The winless New York Giants are going to be without wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. for the rest of the season. The Giants said Monday that Beckham will have surgery on his broken left ankle this week, and head coach Ben McAdoo later said it will end the wide receiver’s season. “It’s a sad situation,” McAdoo said Beckham, 24, was hurt late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 27-22 loss to the Chargers when cornerback Casey Hayward fell on his ankle and pinned it to the turf. McAdoo spoke to Beckham after the game.

NFL odds: Broncos open as 9.5-point favorites over Giants in Week 6

The Denver Broncos (3-1) have opened as 9.5-point favorites over the New York Giants (0-5) in Week 6, according to VegasInsider.com. That’s the second-highest gap this week, trailing only the Houston Texans (2-3), who are 12-point favorites over the Cleveland Browns (0-5). The Broncos will be coming off a bye week while the Giants will be coming off a 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers (1-4). New York is likely considered a big underdog in part because of their winless record and because of the many injuries they suffered at wide receiver on Sunday. Superstar receiver Odell Beckham will...

Chargers 27, Giants 22: Eli Apple Benched, Other Notes

Stats and notes from Sunday’s loss The fifth Sunday of the 2017 NFL season was, quite simply, a nightmare for the New York Giants. Not only did they fall to 0-5, effectively ending their season, but in doing so they suffered an almost unprecedented rash of injuries and quite simply could not hold on to a lead with the game on the line. Because of that, we won’t be doing our usual post-game look at snap counts and stats. Instead, we want to focus on a story line that went (somewhat rightfully) unnoticed with the potential season-ending injury to Odell Beckham Jr. That is the benching of...

RECAP: Chargers Snap 9-Game Losing Streak

Philip Rivers comes to you now at the turning of the tide. In typical Chargers fashion, this was a nail-biter to the very end. The Giants were the home favorites, but with both teams 0-4, it was going to be a case of which team made the bigger plays to secure a win. This was also a game of errors. There were 21 penalties combined. First quarter The Chargers were instrumental in putting the first points on the board. This was, however, a safety, and the Giants led by 2 early in the first quarter Center Spencer Pulley snapped the ball from the 7-yard line before it looked like the...
