3 takeaways from Falcons vs Patriots

3 takeaways from Falcons vs Patriots

Yes, you can panic now. Falcons fans, it’s time to panic. After facing two good defensive fronts in the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, the Falcons offense - led by MVP Matt Ryan and new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian - were given a reprieve, facing a Patriots defense that has been pretty terrible through it’s first 6 games. The results speak for themselves. Here are some takeaways from that disaster on Sunday night. The offense is broken I don’t know how else to say it, but putting up 7 points - mostly in garbage time - against a bottom 10 defense is highly troubling. You...

Atlanta Falcons, Vic Beasley Must Rally On

Despite veering off these past few weeks, the Atlanta Falcons must rally on to return to, and stay, their course to Super Bowl redemption. The expectations headed into Sunday night’s Super Bowl LI rematch were high for both the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. Much like the expectations for both teams are this […] Atlanta Falcons, Vic Beasley Must Rally On - Blogging Dirty - Blogging Dirty - An Atlanta Falcons Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Falcons vs. Patriots reactions, takeaways, and extreme sadness

The Falcoholic’s staff has thoughts on that performance. Adam Schultz I never had this as a win. I didn't expect a win. I anticipated a serviceable showing and semi-avoidance of embarrassment. Instead, an inept team showed up in Gillette Stadium and proceeded to sling fetid feces onto an already dripping and stained resume. Resiliency, brotherhood, “battling.” It all means jack until points are scored and games are won. I want to see exactly 0 hype videos until this team earns the right to produce them. Hangover or not, the 2017 Falcons are just plain bad and I'm not sure this ship...

Patriots throttle Falcons in foggy Super Bowl rematch

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — To Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, this was simply an extension of February’s Super Bowl. For the Atlanta Falcons, it was another dose of football pain. By the end of New England’s clinical 23-7 romp through the fog Sunday night, it was clear that the Patriots have straightened out what ailed them this season. And that the Falcons are a shadow of the team that built a 25-point third-quarter lead in that championship game, only to fall apart and lose the first overtime game in Super Bowl history. Brady...

3 Falcons up, 3 Falcons down in Week 7 loss to Patriots

3 Falcons up, 3 Falcons down in Week 7 loss to Patriots

Yikes. Riding a two-game skid, the Atlanta Falcons had a chance to avenge their devastating Super Bowl loss against the New England Patriots. Instead, the offense was dominated against one of the league’s worst defenses, and Atlanta fell to 3-3 after a 23-7 loss in Foxborough. Who’s up and who’s down in the loss? Up Devonta Freeman Why would you pay him if you refuse to give him the ball? Freeman has just 21 rushing attempts in the past two games, and he’s averaging well over six-and-a-half yards a pop. He finished with 72 rushing yards against the Patriots. Feed this guy. Julio...

Falcons vs. Patriots recap: Waterloo and fog in New England

Falcons vs. Patriots recap: Waterloo and fog in New England

Atlanta gets embarrassed on the road. Coming into this game, I felt very strongly that Atlanta had been sufficiently humiliated to realize there was a major problem on offense. I trusted they had enough talent to take advantage of a prime matchup against a struggling Patriots defense. I thought they could do just enough on defense to keep them in the game, and perhaps win. This was all based on the assumption that Atlanta would, after being punched in the mouth repeatedly, rally against a team that handed them a Super Bowl loss last season. I was wrong. Wrong in every single way, and wrong...

Falcons-Patriots post-game injury report: linebackers banged up in discouraging loss

Falcons-Patriots post-game injury report: linebackers banged up in discouraging loss

Fact: Duke Riley drinks warm Dr. Pepper The Atlanta Falcons lost yet another game and now stand at 3-3. That’s not an enviable position to be in, and we spent an entire off-season convincing ourselves that Super Bowl hangovers aren’t real. But now that reality has smacked us in the face, all we can is move forward. The Falcons have a winnable game against the Jets next weekend. For now, let’s break down the injuries. Duke Riley left the game with a knee injury. His knee was bothering him all week so this is really a re-aggravation of an existing injury. He left the game during the...

Atlanta Falcons lose bad to Patriots in Super Bowl 51 rematch

In a high-profiled Super Bowl 51 rematch, the Atlanta Falcons were embarrassed by the New England Patriots in a lopsided 23-7 loss This one was ugly from the start, and not just because of the dense fog that made it hard to see the players on the field. Duke Riley injured and Kemal Ishmael in at linebacker against the Patriots

Argh. The Falcons have had a rough night so far in New England, and losing Duke Riley isn’t going to make them feel any better. It looks like the linebacker is at least questionable to return. With Riley out, Kemal Ishmael is playing linebacker, and doing a solid job thus far, albeit with some big runs on the middle he wasn’t exactly stellar on. We obviously hope Riley isn’t seriously hurt, but we’re also wallowing in self-pity, so. I can give you 3-28 reasons to watch tonight’s game. The NFL knows how to schedule their games. After a somewhat modest set of contest during Sunday, the league will cap off the night with one of the most anticipated matchups for the year. Whether they admit it or not, the Atlanta Falcons have had this day circled on their calendars ever since the schedule came out in April. They are seeking revenge on the New England Patriots, the team that pulled a sure Super Bowl victory from their hands just over eight months ago. Both teams seem to be suffering from a bit of Super Bowl hangover....
