Bengals vs Ravens injury roundup: Cincinnati will need the extra recovery time after physical game

The Bengals were missing a few guys during their victory over the Ravens, and hopefully the extra recovery time will help get everyone healthy again. AFC North matchups have a habit of getting ugly with injuries. Thursday Night Football’s matchup of the Bengals and Ravens was no exception. Each team saw a few players leave the game as the The short turnaround from the Bengals victory on Sunday also likely had an impact on the number of injuries, but that is always the risk with these Thursday night games. The Bengals got some bad news before the game. Linebacker Preston Brown wasn’t...

Ravens at Bengals: The good, the bad and the ugly

There was a lot to like in the Bengals’ 34-23 win over the rival Ravens. The Cincinnati Bengals are 2-0. There were times in which the game looked either totally controlled and others where things seemed to be slipping through their grasp, but they came through for their second consecutive win (and composite score of 34-23). Here are the best and worst from the team’s win on Thursday Night Football. The good: “The Red-Green” connection: What more is there to say here? Bengals RB Joe Mixon may need knee surgery, per report

This is less than ideal news for the Bengals who look like a different team with Mixon on-the-field. The Bengals may be without Joe Mixon when they face the Panthers in Week 3, and possibly beyond that. Mixon suffered a knee injury early in Thursday’s win over the Ravens, which led to him going in and out of the game through the fourth quarter. Turns out, Mixon may need a surgical procedure to repair the damage that was done, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network: The #Bengals fear RB Joe Mixon will need arthroscopic surgery to clean up the knee he injured in last night’s win...

Retired NFL ref tweets Dre Kirkpatrick’s pass interference penalty was “not a foul”

Did the refs make the wrong call last night right before halftime? One former NFL official thinks so. In a game in which the Bengals were blowing out a more popular team on the national stage, was it really surprising that there was controversy with the refs in a moment that sparked a slight comeback for Cincinnati’s opponent? With 1:02 left in the first-half, the Ravens trailed the Bengals 28-7 and had the ball at their own 19 yard-line. Following a dropped interception by cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick way downfield, the Ravens marched down the field in just three plays and found...

The Bengals reached a big scoring milestone against the Ravens

The Bengals reached a big scoring milestone against the Ravens

This bodes well for the Bengals going forward. The Bengals are 2-0 after a 34-23 win over the Ravens on Thursday Night Football. If that score looks familiar, it’s because that was the same margin Cincinnati defeated the Colts by last week. It’s also the first time an NFL team has scored at least 34 points in each of their first two games since the 2013 Broncos. In case you forgot, the 2013 Broncos made it to the Super Bowl. The Bengals are the first team to score at least 34 points in each of their first 2 games since the 2013 Broncos, who went on to reach Super Bowl XLVIII....

Bengals lose Dre Kirkpatrick late to injury vs. Ravens

Bengals lose Dre Kirkpatrick late to injury vs. Ravens

Not what the Bengals’ defense needs. The Bengals suffered a big injury late in their clash with the Ravens. With the game winding down, Dre Kirkpatrick went down along the Baltimore sideline after pulling up lame in coverage. He had to lay down and be examined by trainers before gingerly heading to the locker room. Hopefully, it’s nothing more than cramps. The fact that it was a leg issue and the training staff let him walk on it unassisted suggest it was a cramp. We will keep you posted if any more details come out.

Michael Johnson ruled out of Bengals vs. Ravens game with knee injury

Being immediately ruled out is not good news for Johnson. Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson has been ruled out from the Bengals vs. Ravens Week 2 Thursday Night Football game with a left knee injury. The injury occurred in the first quarter with about six minutes remaining. The Bengals have Carlos Dunlap, Carl Lawson, Jordan Willis and Sam Hubbard active in the game at defensive end. Hubbard has been playing and playing well so Johnson’s absence shouldn’t have a big impact. The rookie had his first sack of his NFL career on Thursday night. Thursday Night football open thread: Ravens at Bengals

Join us for Thursday Night Football. I don’t know how, but it’s already Week 2 in the NFL. I don’t even recall the Detroit Lions opening their season yet, they must have had a bye or something. Well, I look forward to their season opener against the 49ers this week. I could’ve sworn they opened at home, though... Either way, Week 2 starts with an AFC North showdown. While it’s not the most relevant of games for the Detroit Lions, any time we get to see a divisional showdown on national television, it’s usually a pretty good game. Of course, this is a Thursday night game, so you...
