Winners and losers from the Seahawks’ 33-27 loss to the Titans

Winners and losers from the Seahawks’ 33-27 loss to the Titans

At 1-2, it’s definitely not time to worry about the Seattle Seahawks missing the playoffs or anything like that. If you have, however, held the belief that the Seahawks would/should be gunning for the #1 seed, then their room for error the rest of the way is very small. They need to essentially go anywhere between 10-2 and 12-0 the rest of the way to challenge for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Seattle basically has to be like the 2012 Broncos to pull this off. This is only the second time that Seattle has started 1-2 after three games in the Russell Wilson era, and...

DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry Continue to Share the Load for the Titans

DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry Continue to Share the Load for the Titans

The changing of the guard is going to take a bit longer than some fans want Heading into the Titans match up with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday there was a lot of speculation on whether it was time to let Derrick Henry shoulder the load for the running game. DeMarco Murray sat out for the majority of the preseason, and until recently has yet to look like his old self during games. Was it rust? Age? Hamstring issue dampening his burst? Whatever the issue, Derrick Henry’s dominate performance to close out the Jaguars last week had fans salivating and sure that it would be his time to...

Brian Orakpo led the NFL in pressures on Sunday

Brian Orakpo led the NFL in pressures on Sunday

Rak is playing at a very high level once again this year. Brian Orakpo racked up a whopping 11 pressures on Sunday against the Seahawks struggling offensive line. That was good enough for the top mark in the NFL and is really an absurd number. To put it in perspective, Khalil Mack led the NFL with 96 total pressures in 2016 which is an average of 6 per game. Orakpo currently ranks 7th in the NFL among EDGE defenders in PFF’s Pass Rush Productivity metric which measures pressure created on a per snap basis with weighting toward sacks. These players racked up the most pressure yesterday...

The Titans offensive line was great yesterday for the 2nd week in a row

The Titans offensive line was great yesterday for the 2nd week in a row

Remember two weeks ago when we were starting to worry about the Titans offensive line this season? It seems like months ago now after two dominating performances in a row. Just how dominating was yesterday’s perforamance? Here are some statistics courtesy of Pro Football Focus: Titans QB Marcus Mariota was pressured on just two of his 37 dropbacks on Sunday, or 5.4 percent, by far the lowest pressure rate of any QB on Sunday. The Titans offensive line allowed a single pressure against the Seahawks. Titans LT Taylor Lewan and RT Jack Conklin combined for 72 pass block snaps and zero...

NFC West standings: Seahawks drop to 1-2 on Sunday

The 49ers sat on the sidelines on Sunday, and were treated to a gut-wrenching loss for the Seahawks against the Titans. The Seattle Seahawks fell to 1-2 on the season after an ugly game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers are, of course, firmly in last place in the division, but the NFC West didn’t look any better on Sunday. Of course, the Seahawks were the only representatives in action, as the Arizona Cardinals will face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Seattle was on the losing end of a 33-27 game against the Titans. Russell Wilson had four...

Seahawks run defense has worst two-game stretch since 2013

Seahawks run defense has worst two-game stretch since 2013

It’s been an ugly two weeks for the Seattle Seahawks run defense. In Sunday’s 33-27 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Seattle allowed an obscene 195 yards on the ground, including a 75-yard TD to DeMarco Murray, the longest rushing touchdown ever allowed in the Pete Carroll era. Last week, San Francisco’s Carlos Hyde and Matt Breida combined for 159 yards on just 19 carries, with Hyde getting over the century-mark before halftime thanks to 61 and 27-yard bursts. If you do the math, Seattle has given up 354 yards on 54 attempts, an average of an unthinkably bad 6.5 yards per rush. A staple...

Seahawks fall to 1-2 record: Post-game observations after loss to Titans

Seahawks fall to 1-2 record: Post-game observations after loss to Titans

In what resembled an actual football game for seemingly the first time this season, the Seattle Seahawks came up short against the Tennessee Titans losing 33-27. The loss drops the Seahawks to 1-2 on the season, with both losses coming on the road. Pete Carroll and the coaching staff mismanaged the entire game, while both the defense and offense each had one good half - unfortunately, they didn’t line up with one another. Sometimes football is simply bizarre, and today was one of those days. Russell Wilson What a weird afternoon for Russell Wilson. He began the game poorly, missing...

RECAP: Titans run past the Seahawks, 33-27

Huge home win. After a slow start, this game had all kinds of fireworks in the first half. Richard Sherman was the center of attention after managing to pick up three separate penalties on a single play. Sherman was jawing with the refs and probably deserved to be tossed at that point. He followed that up with a blatant late hit on Marcus Mariota out of bounds. After his second personal foul penalty of the game, Sherman was the target of Taylor Lewan — who let him know all about it on the sideline. Seahawks-Titans game thread, 3rd quarter: Seattle trails 9-7 headed into second half

Weird game. Lots of penalties. But at the end of two quarters, the Seattle Seahawks trail 9-7 at the half. Russell Wilson is 7-of-16 for 110 yards and a touchdown, aided heavily by deep completions to Doug Baldwin and C.J. Prosise, eventually resulting in a score to the former. Seattle gets the ball to start the second half.

NFL Week 3 Afternoon Games Open Thread

Seattle Seahawks at Tennessee Titans The Seahawks have been shockingly bad on offense this season. Russell Wilson has only one passing touchdown through two games and their running game has not really gotten going. The benching of Eddie Lacy and emergence of Chris Carson might help with the running game, but it remains to be seen just how good they can be. It is not unusual for Pete Carroll’s teams to start slow before finishing strong, but it is still early in the season. On the other side of the field, the Titans are likely going to be forced to turn to Derrick Henry thanks to an injury...

Seahawks-Titans, Week 3: 1st quarter game thread

The Seattle Seahawks are in Nashville, Tennessee to take on the Titans on Sunday. This is their first AFC South game of the year, with their last game against the Titans coming in 2013 as a 20-13 win in Seattle. Since then, a lot has changed for Tennessee, none bigger than quarterback Marcus Mariota and the exotic smashmouth offense from head coach Mike Mularkey. Speaking of which, running back DeMarco Murray is active for the Titans, a key player who was questionable heading into Sunday. The Seahawks inactives include Mark Glowinski, who has been benched in favor of Oday Aboushi. Also...

Seahawks-Titans 2017 NFL season: Kickoff time, TV coverage, radio, live streaming, and more

For only the second time in franchise history, the Seattle Seahawks (1-1) are traveling to Nashville to play the Tennessee Titans (1-1). You have to go back to 2005 for Seattle’s previous trip to Tennessee, a 28-24 come-from-behind victory to clinch the #1 seed in the NFC. Oh how we wish we could have offensive line play as good as the 2005 Seahawks. Anyway, this is a nice early season inter-conference showdown between two favorites to win their respective divisions. The Seahawks have made a change on the offensive line, with Oday Aboushi replacing Mark Glowinski at right guard....
