49ers’ Richard Sherman misses practices with heel injury

49ers’ Richard Sherman misses practices with heel injury

Cornerback Richard Sherman, who has had surgeries on both Achilles tendons in the past 10 months, missed practice Thursday with a heel injury after he wasn’t listed on the injury report the previous day. Sherman, 30, tore his right Achilles in November. In the offseason, he had another procedure to remove bone spurs from his left Achilles. Sherman, who played in one preseason game due to a hamstring injury, has played all 148 defensive snaps in the season’s first two games and has allowed just one reception. Before practice, Sherman met with the media and did not mention his heel injury,...

Richard Sherman misses Thursday practice with heel injury

This is ... not ideal. The San Francisco 49ers were back at practice Thursday afternoon, and a notable name was added to the injury list. Cornerback Richard Sherman was a DNP and listed with a heel injury. By all accounts he was walking around fine, but he spent practice working on a side field. My...

Browns QB Tyrod Taylor ruled out of Jets game with concussion

The Cleveland Browns didn’t look like they’re going to end their lengthy winless streak on Thursday against the New York Jets at home, at least in the first half, when they found themselves down 14-3 heading into the dugout for the halftime break. What made the Browns’ outlook for the rest of the contest was […] The post Browns QB Tyrod Taylor ruled out of Jets game with concussion appeared first on ClutchPoints.

Peter King doesn’t like Josh Gordon trade for the Patriots

The New England Patriots made a controversial move this week, trading for Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon. By now, everyone knows Gordon’s story. He has unbelievable raw talent at the wide receiver position and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. The problem is, he hasn’t had many opportunities to […] The post Peter King doesn’t like Josh Gordon trade for the Patriots appeared first on ClutchPoints.

Why not trade for Josh Gordon? 49ers’ John Lynch explains

General manager John Lynch indicated Josh Gordon’s extensive off-the-field issues were the reason the 49ers didn’t pursue a trade for the wide receiver more aggressively. On Monday, the Browns traded Gordon, 27, and 2019 seventh-round pick to the Patriots for a 2019 fifth-round pick. On Sunday, Lynch...

Cardinals QB Sam Bradford takes ownership of ‘frustrating’ start for offense, vows to get better

The Green Bay Packers were on the cusp of a 2-0 start to the 2018 NFL season until a roughing the passer penalty by linebacker Clay Matthews allowed the Minnesota Vikings to end things with a tie. Falcons WR Julio Jones says he’s ‘fine’ after missing practice with calf injury

The Atlanta Falcons are coming off an encouraging 31-24 win over the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, but it had featured star wide receiver Julio Jones suffering a calf injury late in the contest. This had led to Jones not participating in practice on Wednesday that drew some concerns about his availability for Week 3 action […] The post Falcons WR Julio Jones says he’s ‘fine’ after missing practice with calf injury appeared first on ClutchPoints.

Browns use Philly Special to help Cleveland get first win in 634 days

Copy cats. At one point during the Browns versus Jets game on Thursday Night Football, color analyst Troy Aikman quipped that “the Browns are not the Eagles” when Hue Jackson passed up going for it on a fourth down situation. Thanks, Troy. But there WAS one moment when the Browns resembled the reigning Super Bowl champions on Thursday evening. It came when the Browns ran a familiar looking play for a successful two-point conversion. Jets Collapse in Embarrassing 21-17 Loss

I don’t want to take away anything from what was a tremendous night for Cleveland. Browns fans certainly deserve something positive, and Baker Mayfield did a great job once he entered the game. I also don’t have much time for you if you are going to declare Sam Darnold a bust after one bad night or express regret over drafting him. Yes, he was miserable in this game. You should have expected games where he doesn’t look like a functional football player. Almost all rookies will have them. Mayfield will too at some point this season. What is difficult to fathom is how the Jets blew a 14...

Welcome to your Super Bowl defense

Welcome to your Super Bowl defense

Led by the addition of Khalil Mack and continued improvement of the other 10, the Bears D is ready for the big stage. A new head coach. A 2nd-year, 1st-round quarterback. A superstar linebacker. A dominant pass rush. A turnover-crazed defense. And an opposing QB running scared. The date was November 7, 2004, and for the Bears franchise, it was a historic one. I bet a lot of Bears fans would find that statement a head-scratcher. But it’s true nonetheless. Because that was the day that The Vision arrived. The 2-5 Bears went into the Meadowlands on a Sunday afternoon and turned a...

Vontae Davis doesn’t care what people say about his halftime decision to retire

Vontae Davis's decision to retire smack dab in the middle of the Buffalo Bills' game Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers didn't sit well with some of his teammates. Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander called the move "completely disrespectful," and fellow safety Rafael Bush said it caused him to lose "respect for him as a man."

49ers Super Bowl odds climb slightly following win over Lions

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Detroit Lions this past Sunday, and while it was not a pretty win, it was a win nonetheless. And as is the case, when a team wins a game, usually their Super Bowl odds improve. A week after falling from 20/1 to 33/1, the 49ers improved to 28/1 at Bovada. The Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, and Houston Texans all climbed ahead of the 49ers after Week 1, but with all three losing, they dropped behind San Francisco. Meanwhile, the 49ers travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs, who are climbing the board. In May, you could get the Chiefs at 40/1. They were...

Here is your Thursday injury report for the Broncos and the Ravens. After sitting out Wednesday’s practice with some minor knee soreness, the Broncos starting quarterback, Case Keenum returned to practice for the Broncos today. This was expected, but whenever your starting quarterback returns to practice, it is noteworthy. "How [@casekeenum] leads our team has been breathtaking ... when you have a guy who has so much confidence in his own game, but a toughness, and he’s a winner, it gives you hope." - Coach Joseph via @theMMQB » https://t.co/gMNmZSU64f...
