Report: Aaron Dobson had a screw inserted into his foot

Aaron Dobson underwent surgery in March to repair a stress fracture in his left foot, now Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe is reporting Dobson had a screw permanently inserted into his left foot.  The 2-3 month timetable for recovery seems unrealistic right now since Dobson just began running in July. Since, the injury has high risk for re-injury I believe the […]

New York Jets: Guard Position Battle Brewing?

Even though the Jets have both incumbent starting tackles back this year, there are increasing signs Willie Colon and Brian Winters are competing with Oday Aboushi and that the top two of the three might start. As team drills start, Aboushi at LG, Colon at right #nyj — Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) July 30, 2014 Aboushi at LG in the early portion of team drills. Winters and Colon alternating at RG. #NYJ — Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) July 30, 2014 Colon is recovering from an injury, and they have been easing him back. Dolphins training camp update: Botched snaps leads to Nater Garner in starting lineup

The Miami Dolphins shook up the offensive line during today's training camp practice. Most notably, the team moved Nate Garner into the starting lineup. Five practices into training camp, and the Miami Dolphins could not wait any longer.  After repeated botched snaps throughout the first few days of camp, the team had to shake up the offensive line, starting with removing Shelley Smith from the top of the depth chart.  In his place, the team slid veteran utility offensive lineman Nate Garner into the starting center position. Garner started two games at center last year when Pro Bowler...

Buffalo Bills, Fred Jackson agree to one-year contract extension

The Buffalo Bills announced on Wednesday that they have signed running back Fred Jackson to a contract extension. The ageless wonder will be in line to spend at least two more seasons with the team. Rejoice, Buffalo Bills fans: everyone's favorite running back, Fred Jackson, signed a one-year extension today to keep his career going just a little bit longer. Financial details were not disclosed by the team. The 33-year-old Jackson is the oldest running back in the NFL, but showed he still had some tread on the tires last year, setting a career high nine rushing touchdowns to pair with 890...

Jace Amaro Struggling Early

Jace Amaro Struggling Early

It really has been a baptism by fire for Amaro as he continues to struggle through camp. When the Jets selected Jace Amaro with the 49th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, a lot of fans were delighted, me included. However the young Texas Tech product has struggled to impress early in camp, and today things got worse. After a disappointing performance he got an earful from both offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and presumed starter Geno Smith. Here are a few tweets explaining the struggles: Amaro on diff. between concepts in college & pros: "It's like speaking Chinese to English....

Demario Davis Having Strong Start To Camp

Demario Davis Having Strong Start To Camp

Jets inside linebacker Demario Davis has started camp on fire, leading the way inside. Can he continue his rise? Anyone who has been here for more than 18 months will know how much time I have for Demario Davis. I loved him at Arkansas State and desperately wanted the Jets to land him, fortunately they did and they may be about to reap the rewards of that 3rd round selection. Davis was thrust into the starting line-up in 2013 after just one year of limited experience. Remember Davis didn't come from Alabama, he came from Arkansas State, so he was raw in year one. He made a jump last year...

Buffalo Bills' Nigel Bradham suspended for one game

Bradham was suspended by the NFL, without pay, for violating the league's substance abuse policy. As it turns out, Nigel Bradham will not be the Buffalo Bills' opening-day starter at weak-side linebacker. No, he hasn't lost the competition for that job. He's just been suspended one game, without pay, by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. You may recall that last August, Bradham was issued an appearance ticket for marijuana possession after a routine traffic stop following a Bills preseason win. That did not ultimately land him a suspension last season, but...

Buffalo Bills training camp 2014: Day 9 open thread

The Bills are back on the practice field on Wednesday for the first of three practices prior to their departure for Canton, Ohio. Follow along here. Tuesday was a day off from the rigors of training camp for the Buffalo Bills. It didn't feel like that for the rest of us, what with a day and half to discuss and speculate about the future ownership of the team. But today, we return to a more normal routine, as the Bills are about to step back onto the field at St. John Fisher College for their ninth camp practice of the 2014 season. Embedded below is a Twitter list of reporters that are on...

2014 NFL Season Over/Under standings

2014 NFL Season Over/Under standings

The NFL season is finally approaching. With the NFL season returning, so do bettings odds for just about everything NFL. We use the latest Over/Unders for all 32 teams to take a look at how the final standings around the league could look. If the NFL season is getting close, that means NFL odds are going to start coming out.  That's exactly what's happened this week, as Bovada updated their over/unders for all 32 NFL franchises.  Rather than just look at the Miami Dolphins' projection, I decided to go through and use the O/U (and the associated odds to break ties) for each division,...

Bryan Stork Not Practicing, Dan Connolly Steps Up

The Patriots fourth round center was injured yesterday, and a familiar face has stepped into his place. When center Bryan Stork was injured yesterday and had to head into the locker room (he left on his own power, so hopefully any injury is minor), it marked an important moment in camp. The Patriots had been giving the rookie all the chances in the world to beat out incumbent center Ryan Wendell for the starting role, so any time lost will change the offensive landscape. So when Stork was not on the field this morning, it would make sense for Wendell to take the starting spot and try to put...

Dolphins season tickets start arriving; Twitter rejoices

The MIami Dolphins shipped their season tickets this week. As they arrived, Twitter began showing off the goods. The NFL season is here.  How do I know that?  The Miami Dolphins season tickets are beginning to arrive.  And, as the season ticket members opened the FedEx boxes carrying their tickets, pictures began appearing on Twitter.  We have collected some of those tweets here this morning: It's football season! Cardinals DB Patrick Peterson Inks New Deal; Darrelle Revis Fallout?

Cardinals DB Patrick Peterson Inks New Deal; Darrelle Revis Fallout?

There's a new top contract on the market for defensive backs and we know that Darrelle Revis wants to beat it. How will this impact the Patriots? If there's one thing everyone knows about Darrelle Revis and his contracts it's that it's not about the money. It's about the pride. Like Logan Mankins and Vince Wilfork, Revis plays at a high level on the field and feels that deserves compensation that is fair for his production level. That's fair. The issue with Revis, that separates him from the Mankins and the Wilforks, is that he's been so far beyond his peers for his career- and that means...

Jets Training Camp Thread 7/30

Another day in Cortland, another training camp thread. The Jets are back at it today. They will hope for a crisper practice. Yesterday's practice was reportedly a bit sloppy, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. It happens. We will see if things turn around a bit. We will also see whether Calvin Pryor and Jace Amaro can get back on the field. There are signs both are making progress, but both have been limited by injuries suffered over the weekend. Pryor was not practicing yesterday due to a concussion, and Amaro was limited by a knee ailment. Leave your thoughts on practice and...

How Successful Was Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey's Offensive Line Rebuild?

Now that time has passed since the first, and main, stages of Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey's offensive line rebuild and uncontrollable events, such as injuries, have taken place, it's time to review how well Hickey really did at sculpting the new offensive line of the Dolphins and lay out a few concerns. Two of my major criticisms with Miami Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey's offensive line rebuild that took place over the 2014 offseason was the unwillingness to acquire top interior talent and, more importantly, quality depth. While the effects of the former aren't felt quite yet, complications that...
