NFL Top 100 Players 2016: Reshad Jones 'what you want in a safety'

Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones has made his first-ever appearance on the NFL's annual "Top 100 Players" list. Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones was named to hist first Pro Bowl after the 2015 season. On Wednesday, he was named to the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016 list for the first time. After voting by the players of the league, he came in as the 64th player in the game. "This entire season, people were saying how I was perhaps the best safety in the NFL," Tyrann Mathieu said in the NFL.com video announcing Jones' inclusion on the list. "But, the whole time, I was looking at Reshad's...

The Splash Zone 5/26/16: Does Adam Gase Have A Lot To Prove?

Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours. Apparently Adam Gase has the most to prove this season as a coach. Gase seems to be doing everything right, but when the season starts that will be a whole different story. From what players are saying, Gase seems like a players kind of coach. He's getting along with them and not acting like Joe Philbin. You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day's round-up below. Dolphins coach Adam Gase among those with most to proveNearly...

NY Jets: Amaro Heavily Involved At TE, Not H-Back

Apparently Jace has been traded to the tight ends position group. According to Connor Hughes, Jace Amaro has been heavily involved in the Jets passing game at OTAs and is lining up mostly as a traditional tight end, not as an H-Back. It was a nice practice for Amaro, who seemed to be working primarily as a tight end. He confirmed as much after practice saying that’s where not only he’s been working, but how he envisions himself. His words exactly: "I view myself as a three-down tight end." The H-Back thing appears to be a thing of the past. He got up the seam a couple of times and...

NY Jets: Why Is Eric Decker Not At OTAs?

Is Decker protesting Fitzpatrick's stalled contract negotiations? First, the obligatory disclaimers. Eric Decker, and every other player, is in no way obligated to be at OTAs, per the terms of the current NFL Players Collective Bargaining Agreement. These workouts are strictly voluntary. So Decker is not holding out. He is exercising his contractual right not to participate. However ... the vast majority of players do in fact participate in OTAs. If a player isn't injured and isn't involved in stalled contract negotiations, said player is almost always at OTAs ... So why is Decker...

DeflateGate: Patriots legally support Tom Brady and the NFLPA against Roger Goodell and the NFL

The Patriots are showing their strongest support for Tom Brady! The New England Patriots franchise has officially sided with quarterback Tom Brady and the NFL Players Association in a legal capacity. The Patriots have filed an amicus brief with the Second Circuit in support of Brady. While the Patriots are not technically a party in the case, they are making their strongest statement that they are against the league's decision. Read the Patriots filing here "From the outset of this matter the League's conduct reflects less a search for the truth than pursuit of a pre-determined result and...

Seantrel Henderson hasn't spoken with Rex Ryan

As OTAs continue, last year's starting right tackle hasn't been at One Bills Drive very much. Seantrel Henderson's long-term role on the Buffalo Bills was placed in doubt when he missed the final five games of the season due to an illness (reported to be Chron's Disease). Months later, it's not clear if or when he'll return to the field and even the head coach doesn't know. "Yeah I have no update for you guys on that," Ryan told the press following the opening of OTAs. "That is a medical thing. I really have no update. I haven’t seen Seantrel in quite a while." Continuing to speak about...

Breaking down the Miami Dolphins' 2016 Draft Class: Kenyan Drake

With the 73rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select; Kenyan Drake, running back, Alabama Throughout most of the offseason, the Dolphins continued to search for a running back to fill the void left by 26-year old Lamar Miller.  Miami was unwilling to agree to terms with the play-making running back, requiring the team to look elsewhere for his replacement.  The Dolphins had an agreement in place with C.J Anderson, until Elway and the Broncos swooped in at the last second, matching Miami’s offer.  The team missed out on Chris Johnson, and have kept a watchful eye on Arian...

Arizona Cardinals players want to face Patriots QB Tom Brady in week 1

New England's opening day opponent wants the team to be at full strength. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is one of the best – if not the best – to ever play the position. Naturally, competing against a player of his format is intriguing, especially if you are on a team that is only scheduled to face him every four years. The NFC West's Arizona Cardinals are one of those teams. They will face the Patriots in week one's highly anticipated match-up on national television. Unfortunately – or fortunately, depending on your point of view – Tom Brady won't be on the other side...

These 4 Patriots injured in 2015 could have monster 2016 seasons

The New England Patriots need better injury luck in 2016, and these four players could return to the field and have a major impact. The injury bug hit the New England Patriots worse than any other team in 2015 and led to the team's ultimate demise. When you ignore special teams players (props to Stephen Gostkowski, Ryan Allen, and Matthew Slater for playing in every game), only a handful of Patriots made it through the entire season. Quarterback Tom Brady avoided a major injury in the season finale against the Dolphins. The defensive tackle tandem of Malcom Brown and Alan Branch grew over...

Tyler Eifert Could Miss Opener Against the Jets

The Jets have the Cincinnati Bengals on the schedule in their 2016 regular season opener. The Bengals might be without one of the key pieces on their offense. Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert will have ankle surgery Wednesday and could miss at least the season opener at the New York Jets on Sept. 11, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Tuesday. News of the surgery was first reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer, which said a three-month recovery is anticipated. Eifert blossomed into one of the truly great red zone threats in the NFL in 2015. He had 13 touchdown receptions on the...

Reminder: latest Deflategate appeal isn’t about Tom Brady anymore

Yet another article assumes that Tom Brady is simply defending his honor, when in reality, it’s about players’ rights and the league’s power. Yahoo Sports writer Dan Wetzel, who’s been firmly on Tom Brady’s side ever since he did basic math and figured out that it’s, oh, let’s say, "more probable than not" that nothing ever happened in Deflategate, penned a rousing grit-and-guts column this week called "Here’s why Tom Brady won’t give up in deflate-gate fight". If you’re a Tom Brady fan, it’ll get you so pumped that you’ll want to run through a brick wall.  Wetzel...

Dolphins depth chart projection 2016: Breaking down Miami's roster IX - Offensive line

Part nine of our breakdown of the Miami Dolphins' roster and a projection of the depth chart for 2016. The Miami Dolphins are into their Organized Team Activities, getting the full roster on to the practice field (minus Thomas Duarte, who is still in school at UCLA and cannot joint the team until the academic term ends in June). From now until the start of the regular season in September, the coaching staff will be installing entirely new offensive and defensive schemes, trying to find the right way to use the talent on the roster, and, unfortunately, figuring out how to make the 90-man...
