We’ve all patiently waited for movement on free agent Chris Johnson, from the Jets or another team, and at 4:19pm ET, the New York Jets officially announced the addition. The move and two-year deal were first reported on by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Johnson, who has played six of his first seasons in the league with […]

Jets sign Chris Johnson

The New York Jets have signed running back Chris Johnson. Former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson signed with the New York Jets today, after having the six-year veteran in for a visit earlier. The deal is for two years, though compensation has not been released. Earlier today, we reported that Johnson had left the team without a contract, though one could still be completed. That contract was obviously completed, but it will be interesting to see which side blinked, with the Jets thought to have been offering a multi-year contract around $3-4 million per season, while Florida...

Happy Birthday, Coach!

Happy Birthday, Coach!

Today is Bill Belichick's 62nd birthday, which is cause enough for celebration around here. But there is another reason that Pats fans should be happy as well. Believe it or not, I'm not much of a birthday guy. For me, the best birthdays simply come and go with little to no fanfare, and those closest to me know that I prefer to spend the day just doing my thing and not making a big deal out of it. Some people take birthdays to a whole other level and see it as a great reason to get together with friends and celebrate something fun, and to those people I say more power to you. But the way I...

Chris Johnson signing with New York Jets

The Jets have reached a deal with former Titans Pro Bowler Chris Johnson. The Tennessee Titans cut Chris Johnson two weeks ago, and to this point, there hadn't been much interest shown in him. That changed over the weekend, when the the New York Jets hosted CJ2K for a visit. Johnson attended the Knicks-Nets game at Barclays Center on Tuesday night, and rumors floated about that a deal was on the verge of getting done. ESPN' Adam Schefter now reports the deal is done and Johnson will join the Jets: Former Titans RB Chris Johnson reached agreement with Jets on a two-year deal, per league...

The New York Jets Sign Chris Johnson

The New York Jets Sign Chris Johnson

The former Titan is now a Jet. The New York Jets have announced that they have signed Chris Johnson, formerly of the Tennessee Titans. We have talked about Johnson at length, and now he is a member of the team. I'm reserving final judgment until I see the contract numbers, but generally speaking, I think this is a good move. We know it's a two year deal, and we've said what terms the team and Johnson were looking for earlier. It's important that you don't expect the CJ2K that broke 2,000 rushing yards several years ago, one of only seven players to ever do so. Despite that, Johnson is...

Scouting The Draft: Marcus Smith, DE/OLB, Louisville

A peek at the pass rush prospect from Da 'Ville. IntroductionWhile it seems that most of the Jets fan base are locked in on an offensive skill player or cornerbacks with these high draft picks, don’t be too surprised if this is the year the Jets finally make a bid on an edge pass rusher that they’ve lacked since, well, John Abraham left 8 years ago.  Idzik has always preached a BPA approach.  There’s a point where that guy may be Louisville’s Marcus Smith.Smith came to Louisville as a Rivals 3 star QB prospect and the ESPN #37 athlete prospect.  He was quickly moved to linebacker...

Chris Johnson leaves Jets without contract

Free agent running back Chris Johnson met with the New York Jets this week, leaving the team facilities without a deal in place. From reports, the two sides are several million dollars apart in negotiations. Running back Chris Johnson was released by the Tennessee Titans last year, putting a six-year veteran, who has never failed to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for a season, on the market. Several teams, inlcluding the Miami Dolphins, were said to be considering a trade for Johnson prior to his release, with several more being linked to him now that he is a free agent. Must Reads...

Nick Folk brings optimism in 2014 after decade-long Jets kicker carousel

With the NFL draft less than a month away, the Jets have plenty of needs to fill on the team. One position most Jets fans and management aren’t worried about is kicker. That wasn’t always the case though. It is very rare for a team to have a franchise place kicker like the Raiders and […]

Freeman: Patriots Looking for Top Receiving Talent

If there's going to be a curveball, it'll be at the first round pick. I highly recommend reading Mike Freeman's "10 Point Stance". It has a lot of great nuggets on the draft, with one special focus on the Patriots: What I continue to hear from team officials is that despite the Patriots working out a number of quarterbacks, they truly feel like that Tom Brady only has a few years left. So what the Patriots really want is a major receiving threat for him so they can take that last shot or two at the Super Bowl. So his believe is that the Patriots could be making their traditional...

NFL Draft 2014: Buffalo Bills have Round 1 pre-draft visitor trend

The Bills have taken one of their 30 pre-draft visitors in the first round for four years running. Which of the team's visitors so far this year is your favorite to be taken at No. 9 overall? For four years running, the first-round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills has been a player that made a pre-draft visit with the team in April. C.J. Spiller, Marcell Dareus, Stephon Gilmore and EJ Manuel all visited One Bills Drive prior to becoming members of the Bills, and that's part of the reason why fans and reporters keep diligent track of the team's pre-draft visitors each spring. Chris Johnson Seeking 2 years, $10M

Per Erika Esola: Chris Johnson is seeking approximately 2 years, $10 million. Idzik is not budging over $3-4 mil/year it seems. #Jets #JetsTwitter — Erika Esola (@emesola) April 16, 2014 So basically with the information I've gathered, the #Jets and Chris Johnson are about $2-4 million apart. #JetsTwitter — Erika Esola (@emesola) April 16, 2014 This information is coming from a source close within Chris Johnson's camp. John Idzik's number of $3-4M is pretty much what I've been saying is appropriate, although I would personally like to keep it under $3.5M per year. For all of you...
