Pro Football Focus ranks Buffalo Bills roster as 27th-best in NFL

Pro Football Focus ranks Buffalo Bills roster as 27th-best in NFL

The ranking was based on PFF’s 2016 grades. Pro Football Focus released their player rankings for all 32 teams, and ESPN compiled those grades to rank every roster in the league. Because this project was based on 2016 grades, it’s more of a reflection than a projection, but, obviously every team’s additions (free agents / trades) were included. The Bills ranked 27th. PFF’s grading scale is as follows: PFF The highest score for the Bills last season was Richie Incognito. His PFF overall grade was 87.2 in 2016. Tyrod Taylor had the team’s second-highest grade...

Jim Kelly: Sean McDermott bringing “discipline to the table”

Jim Kelly: Sean McDermott bringing “discipline to the table”

The rookie head coach’s methods have won one franchise legend over. It’s not a stretch to say that the Buffalo Bills were distressingly undisciplined during the Rex Ryan era. Over the last two seasons, the Bills committed 255 penalties (third in the NFL) and gave up 2,209 yards in penalties (fourth in the NFL). Will that improve under new head coach Sean McDermott? One former Bills quarterback thinks so. Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, speaking at his annual football camp, spoke highly of McDermott’s ability to keep the team in line. “I’m excited about the 2017 Buffalo Bills,” Kelly...

Patriots’ interior O-line has youth, continuity on its side

David Andrews, Shaq Mason and Joe Thuney all logged over 1,000 snaps in 2016. All three are under 25. Only three years ago, the New England Patriots’ interior offensive line stood with a rookie center by the name of Bryan Stork and a pair of veteran guards bookending him in Dan Connolly and Ryan Wendell. It was a trio rooted with former undrafted practice-squadders by way of Fresno State and Southeast Missouri State, as well as a fourth-round Rimington Trophy winner out of Florida State. And it was one that combined to start a total of 36 games during the 2014 regular season under...

2017 AFC East Outlook: Miami Dolphins

2017 AFC East Outlook: Miami Dolphins

One of Buffalo’s biggest rivals improved this offseason, but will it be enough to upend New England? The games that the Buffalo Bills played against the Miami Dolphins in 2016 were two of the most frustrating football games I can remember watching in a long time. The Bills held a lead in the fourth quarter of each game, and in each game, the Bills lost by a field goal. In the first match-up, Jarvis Landry ended Aaron Williams’s season (and nearly his career) with a crack-back block for which he was fined nearly $24,000. The Bills led 10-6 at halftime, and 17-6 with under a minute to go...

QB Index: Tom Brady is the best quarterback in the NFL because he is the measuring stick for everyone else

The Patriots quarterback is the best in the league and it’s easy to see why. The NFL Network has finished their Top 100 of 2017 rankings and Gregg Rosenthal decided to rank all 16 of the quarterbacks that cracked the list. New England Patriots QB Tom Brady led the list after extending his record for most consecutive finishes inside the top 10 (every single time). “There are times when Brady makes things look easy, and it usually starts before the snap,” Rosenthal writes. “Like when he shifts a receiver to match up with James Harrison, then hits said receiver for a huge gain. Or...
