Wednesday Walkthroughs: Dark horses who could make the 2018 Packers roster

Which under-the-radar player will make the roster? The Green Bay Packers have a long legacy of getting surprising contributions from unexpected sources and 2018 figures to be no different. This year, we’re sure to see at least one player rise from obscurity to make the roster, but who’s it going to be? We put the question to our writers. Here’s what they had to say. Shawn Wagner: Raven Greene and Emanuel Byrd The Packers’ safety position is going through some changes with Morgan Burnett venturing to Pittsburgh and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix entering a contract year coming off a...

What would we change about the Packers’ primary uniforms? Nothing.

What would we change about the Packers’ primary uniforms? Nothing.

The team’s throwback uniform is a different story, however. The Green Bay Packers have one of the most classic uniforms in the NFL. Along with teams like the Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers, and other historic franchises, Green Bay has resisted the urges that some teams have given into in terms of “modernizing” their jerseys. For this writer, at least, my reaction to that decision is a firm “thank you” to the team’s decision-makers. When Nike got the NFL uniform contract over Reebok in 2012, they instituted a number of uniform features that affected teams around the league....

Packers fans should ignore the noise around Aaron Rodgers’ contract extension

Packers fans should ignore the noise around Aaron Rodgers’ contract extension

Reporting has been all over the place where the Packers stand with their quaraterback. With all the smoke around the future of the Green Bay Packers’ franchise player, it’s hard not to yell “Fire!” Resist the urge. First reporting suggested that Aaron Rodgers wanted his pay tied to the salary cap rather than an annual dollar figure, likely a trial balloon from the Rodgers camp that feels about as likely as Terrell Owens successfully making a comeback in the NFL. Even setting aside the fact it completely robs the Packers of any ability to effectively plan for its financial future,...

Tuesday Cheese Curds: Packers financials indicate football is still king

Team reports record revenue and record expenses for 2017 Thanks to the unique ownership structure of the Green Bay Packers, this time of year gives people the only chance to see exactly how much money is coming into an NFL franchise. The Packers released their 2017 financials yesterday, and there were a few interesting things to note. First, revenues rose to a record level but so did expenses. Revenues rose $13.5 million while expenses increased $44.8 million. The latter is due to ongoing construction in the Titletown district plus increases in player salaries and travel expenses. Revenue...

Packers news: Peter King believes Aaron Rodgers wants to ‘break the mold’ with next contract

National revenue sharing was $255 million last year

National revenue sharing was $255 million last year

A cool quarter billion just to show up. The Green Bay Packers are the only publicly owned NFL team, and with that comes the requirement that they disclose their financial statements each year. Most of the numbers are specific to the organization, but there is one number that is of interest to all 32 NFL teams: the national revenue. Sports teams sell tickets, concessions, and merchandise, but the real money for a lot of NFL teams is the national television contract. The 49ers are on the high end for ticket revenue given their new stadium, but the national television deal is still a big...

Green Bay Packers: Latest on Aaron Rodgers contract situation

Aaron Rodgers still has two years left on his current deal he signed in 2013. However, an extension seems evident. When could it happen?
