Disgusting act? Crowell TD doesn't draw Joe Buck's ire like Moss did

Welcome to the Friday edition of The Cooler, where we understand that sometimes you run out of essential goods and need to improvise. Let’s get to it: *In addition to performing nicely as an injury replacement on my fantasy football team Thursday night, Jets running back Isaiah Crowell somehow also managed to avoid the ire of Chief Booty-Related Touchdown Celebration Officer Joe Buck. Buck, you might recall, was none too impressed when the Vikings played the Packers in the playoffs after the 2004 season and Randy Moss celebrated a TD at Lambeau Field with his “fake moon.” Buck’s...

Roster moves leave Vikings with about $150K in salary cap space

The Vikings began the week with about $1.748 million in salary cap space, before a flurry of moves designed to modify several position groups and (most notably) add a new kicker to the roster following the release of Daniel Carlson. Now that the dust has (mostly) settled on those moves, the Vikings find their financial position to be especially snug. According to sources with access to NFLPA salary data, the Vikings have about $150,000 left in salary cap space after the release of tackle David Parry, who was cut to make room for Tom Johnson. Parry was on a non-guaranteed deal worth $630,000,...

Mike Priefer: Vikings would have signed Dan Bailey last offseason if he were available

The Vikings felt they had to upgrade their place-kicking before the season started. They didn’t think they’d have to do it again after two games. The Vikings signed Dan Bailey to be their place-kicker on Tuesday, and if he had been available last spring, they would have done it earlier, special teams coordinator Mike Priefer […]

Vikings Waive David Parry To Make Room For Tom Johnson

Vikings Waive David Parry To Make Room For Tom Johnson

Johnson returns to the Vikings after playing only one game for Seattle. Yesterday, it was reported that the Vikings were going to reunite with their old pal Tom Johnson. Today, the team made the move official, along with clearing the corresponding space on the roster. David Parry was the odd man out as he was officially waived on Wednesday morning. Parry played 26 snaps at defensive tackle over the first two games of the 2018 season for the Vikings and acquitted himself fairly well. He was credited with a solo tackle, an assisted tackle, and had a sack of Aaron Rodgers last Sunday against...

A couple roster moves, the kicker trade-in is official, and more, as the Vikings march onward and upward A very merry hump day to you all! There were a couple roster moves yesterday, as the team made room for their new kicker. Yes, the Vikings and Dan Bailey made it official, they’re going steady. The Vikings have had less-than-stellar luck with kickers as of late.......well, for a very long time, with the exception of the Norwood years. They had a nice run with Gary Anderson until.......well, you know. It really has been a while, though, and I’ll be happy to not hyperventilate and...

Vikings Reinforce Another Position, Sign DT Tom Johnson

On Tuesday the Minnesota Vikings continued to address the issues that stood out during Sunday’s tie against the Green Bay Packers. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported the Vikings will bring back defensive tackle Tom Johnson. Pelissero reported the deal is for one-year and up to $1.5 million. The #Seahawks won’t be able to … The post Vikings Reinforce Another Position, Sign DT Tom Johnson appeared first on Vikings Territory.

The Vikings were apparently the right team for Dan Bailey

The Vikings were apparently the right team for Dan Bailey

He turned down multiple other offers When you’re one of the most accurate kickers in the history of the National Football League and are unexpectedly let go, you can sort of pick and choose your spots. It sounds like that’s precisely what Dan Bailey did when he finally decided to sign with the Minnesota Vikings this week following Daniel Carlson’s meltdown in Green Bay. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports the following: The #Vikings signed K Dan Bailey to a 1-year deal worth $2 million, I’m told. He turned down several offers that were for double that much on multi-year deals....

Minnesota Vikings officially sign Dan Bailey, waive Stacy Coley

Minnesota Vikings officially sign Dan Bailey, waive Stacy Coley

Not sure if anyone saw that coming On Tuesday afternoon, the Minnesota Vikings made official one of the moves that we first mentioned to you on Monday, and the corresponding move comes as a bit of a surprise. Minnesota has officially added kicker Dan Bailey to the roster. Bailey, who currently stands as the second-most accurate kicker in NFL history, was the kicker for the Dallas Cowboys from 2011 to 2017, but was released during the final cutdowns this preseason because, well, Jerry Jones wanted to get his kicker on the cheap. He’s apparently passed his physical and joined the Vikings on...

Vikings waive Stacy Coley to make room for Dan Bailey

The second-year wide receiver is the odd-man-out after the Minnesota Vikings officially announced the signing Dan Bailey on Tuesday. Monday was a busy day for the Minnesota Vikings as they waived kicker Daniel Carlson and replaced him with veteran Dan Bailey. While that move equated out for a simple one-to-one equation, the Vikings also signed […] Vikings waive Stacy Coley to make room for Dan Bailey - The Viking Age - The Viking Age - A Minnesota Vikings Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Vikings bring back defensive tackle Tom Johnson

Defensive tackle Tom Johnson is back with the Vikings. According to a source, Johnson, — released by Seattle last week — will sign a one-year deal with Minnesota worth about $1 million plus incentives worth another $500,000. Johnson played with the Vikings from 2014-17 before signing a one-year deal with Seattle last March. He was […]

Report: Vikings sign DT Tom Johnson

Report: Vikings sign DT Tom Johnson

It’s another poison pill, this time with a Johnson thrown in. Wait... In the off-season, the Minnesota Vikings bade farewell to DT Tom Johnson. Johnson was one of the more under rated free agent signings in the Rick Spielman era, having four productive seasons with the team. Originally signed to be a backup to Shariff Floyd, Johnson took over the starting job when Floyd was hurt. In the off-season, the Vikings signed DT Sheldon Richardson from the Seahawks, and Johnson ended up signing with Seattle during free agency. late last week, though, Seattle had to release Johnson, as they had a...

Vikings film review: Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs state case vs. Packers for NFL's best duo

Jaire Alexander didn’t have much of a chance without risking pass interference. The Packers rookie cornerback chased Vikings receiver Adam Thielen down the sideline, turning his head only when it was too late. Thielen ran an out-and-up pattern as Alexander trailed him. It was first down with 36 seconds left and the Vikings needed eight points to force a tie and overtime. To not give away the impending 22-yard touchdown catch, Thielen kept his hands low until the last possible moment — a trick of the receiver trade perfected from legends like Randy Moss to Larry Fitzgerald. “For me, it...

Vikings scoop up Tom Johnson after Seahawks cut him

The Seattle Seahawks pretty much signed Tom Johnson to be a cheaper replacement for Sheldon Richardson, who went to the Minnesota Vikings on a much more expensive one-year deal than Johnson’s. Guess what? The Vikings now have Richardson and they brought Tom Johnson back. The #Seahawks won’t be able to re-sign Tom Johnson after all. The #Vikings swooped in after the veteran DT’s release became official Monday and are expected to re-sign him to a one-year deal worth up to $1.5 million, source said. “Sebastian Thunderbucket” rides again.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September...

Packers-Vikings Fantasy Reaction: Adams, Graham set the tone on offense

Packers-Vikings Fantasy Reaction: Adams, Graham set the tone on offense

Jimmy Graham looked like the player the Packers were hoping to see when they signed him this offseason. Also, Aaron Jones is on his way back to the field. It was a game marred by bad penalty calls and bad field goal kicks. After missing out on chances to ice the game, the Green Bay Packers tied with the Minnesota Vikings after an offensive shootout. The Packers tied, but hopefully they helped you capture a fantasy win. Aaron Rodgers may be injured, but his fantasy value remains high and that showed with the performances the pass catchers were able to have. There were points all around so...

Falcons add guard Zac Kerin after Andy Levitre goes on injured reserve

Falcons add guard Zac Kerin after Andy Levitre goes on injured reserve

The former Viking, Lion and Giant has started one game in his NFL career, and once backed up Brandon Fusco. The Falcons put Andy Levitre on injured reserve just a short time ago, and they have a corresponding roster move ready to go. Oddly enough, it’s Brandon Fusco’s former backup when both players were with the Vikings. Zac Kerin is a former undrafted free agent who spent three years with the Vikings before bouncing around to the Lions and Giants. He’s fairly mobile and has dabbled at center in the past, but he’s participated in just 16 NFL games since 2014 and is obviously no...

Packers vs. Washington, Week 3 Game Primer

Packers vs. Washington, Week 3 Game Primer

A week after tying Kirk Cousins and his new team, the Packers travel to face his old team in week three. Last Sunday, the Green Bay Packers emerged from a week two contest against Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings with a 29-29 tie. One week later, the team will be in Washington to play Cousins’ former team, which is now quarterbacked by Alex Smith. Washington traded for Smith from the Kansas City Chiefs, agreeing to the trade on January 31st after deciding that they would not try to re-sign Cousins, who would become an unrestricted free agent in March. Through two games, Smith has...

Five Bills to watch: CB2 remains a problem

Five Bills to watch: CB2 remains a problem

What’s worse than having two starting corners perform poorly? How about losing them both before the second half! The Buffalo Bills had issues at cornerback before Sunday’s 31-20 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers. After losing two more corners during the game, however, the position is in dire straits. While there were some signs of hope from most of our players to watch on Sunday, the glaring defensive issues need to be fixed quickly, as the Bills play two teams on the road with fantastic quarterbacks over the next two weeks (the Minnesota Vikings and Kirk Cousins,...
