LT in the house

Green Machine | Bergen Record — Ex-San Diego RB LaDainian Tomlinson is visiting the Jets’ Florham Park complex right now, one day after he visited with Minnesota but left without a deal. The Jets are in the market for a veteran RB after choosing to let go of Thomas Jones, but Tomlinson is coming off the worst season of his NFL career. Frankly, I’m not sure the ‘original’ LT doesn’t have more left in the tank after watching this LT against the Jets in January in the playoffs. We’ll keep you posted.

LT is in the building

The Jets Stream | New York Daily News — Really, what more do we have to say? Well, we'll say a few more things. LaDainian Tomlinson is meeting with team officials at the Jets' Florham Park, N.J., headquarters, where he presumably will get a tour of the relatively new digs and a chance to meet all the key people in the organization, perhaps even some players. On this day, the green carpet is red. Tomlinson isn't being made available to the media.

The Favre factor

The Jets Stream | New York Daily News — One of the best subplots of the LaDainian Tomlinson recruitment is the Brett Favre factor. Will he play in 2010? Tomlinson has said he wants to play for a Super Bowl contender. Certainly, the Vikings fall into that category, but only if Favre is on the team in 2010. Favre, who has mastered the art of avoiding his team's off-season program, probably won't announce a decision on his future until July or August. You have to wonder if the Jets are using that uncertainty in their recruitment of Tomlinson. The Jets, for a change, have quarterback stability. They know Mark Sanchez is going to be arou...

Jets sign safety Pool

New York Post — MIAMI -- Just days after trading away starting safety Kerry Rhodes, the Jets yesterday reached an agreement with Browns safety Brodney Pool on a one-year deal worth $1.3 million. Pool, in his fifth year in the NFL, was a non-tendered restricted free agent, meaning the Jets could sign him...

RB Tomlinson Jets to New York

New York Daily News — LaDainian Tomlinson is on his way to visit the Jets, who are prepared to put on a full-court press for the future Hall of Famer, according to multiple league sources. From all reports, Tomlinson was impressed with the Vikings, but he left this evening without a contract.

Jets’ writers are now Pool reporters

Green Machine | Bergen Record — The Jets agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year, $1.3 million contract with safety Brodney Pool, a restricted free agent who was with Cleveland last season. Because the Browns didn’t tender him, the Jets won’t have to compensate the Browns with a draft pick. Pool has been slowed by concussions during his career, but the Jets needed depth at the position after trading Kerry Rhodes to Arizona.

Jets dive in, sign Pool

The Jets Stream | New York Daily News — The Jets jumped into the free-agent pool tonight, agreeing to terms on a one-year, $1.3 million contract with former Browns S Brodney Pool. Pool was due to become a restricted free agent, but he didn't receive a qualifying tender from the Browns. That made him free, with no ties to the Browns. Also, the Jets aren't required to compensate the Browns with a draft pick. Pool, a former second-round pick who has been slowed by a series of concussions over his career, joins Eric Smith and James Ihedigbo as the candidates to replace Kerry Rhodes. Pool has been a moderately productive starter when hea...

LT set to Jet East

The Jets Stream | New York Daily News — LaDainian Tomlinson is on his way to visit the Jets, who are prepared to put on a full-court press for the future Hall of Famer, according to multiple league sources. From all reports, Tomlinson was impressed with the Vikings, but he left this evening without a contract. After the Jets, he reportedly may visit the Eagles and Saints. The Saints could be a sleeper because of Tomlinson's close relationship with former Charger teammate Drew Brees. The Jets' connection is O.C. Brian Schottenheimer, a former Chargers assistant. The Jets might be the underdog in this battle, but never under-estimate ...

But give Avery credit for this: He answered every question about being scratched tonight and did so in the least controversial manner and, publicly at least, with the most respect for the decision and his role in it. About 40 minutes earlier, coach John Tortorella cited Avery not being engaged enough in all facets of the game, despite the coaching staff previously talking to him about improving on...
