Charles Woodson showing no signs this is his final NFL season, wants to return to Oakland

Even though when the Raiders re-signed Charles Woodson for this season he told everyone he wasn't treating this like his final season, it was hard to really believe. Not that we didn't think he was being honest, just that it didn't seem likely that approaching 38-years-old he could keep playing. Well, we believe it now. Woodson was just named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his 9 tackle, 3 tackles for loss (one being a sack) performance in the Raiders first win of the season over the Chiefs on Thursday Night. That honor was a culmination of a season where the ageless one has been...

Latavius Murray passes concussion tests, returns to practice for Raiders

Last week, second-year running back Latavius Murray burst onto the scene for the Raiders with 4 carries for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. He would have gotten more carries but on his fourth carry, he was hit in the head and knocked out of the game with a concussion. Murray wasn't at practice on Monday and received his baseline concussion test on Tuesday. That test went well because he was back on the practice field Wednesday according to media present at practice. This is the first of many tests in the concussion protocol. He will need to pass tests each day, including one on game day to be...

Raiders S Charles Woodson named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Raiders safety Charles Woodson was honored this week as AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a win over the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday Night. In the game he had 9 tackles with one pass defended and a sack. He became the first player in NFL history to record over 50 interceptions (54) and 20 sacks. He also had a tackle for loss on the first third down of the game to stop Jamaal Charles for a nine-yard loss. This is the sixth time Woodson has won the Player of the Week award. That's second among active defensive backs behind Steelers safety Troy Polamalu. The 38-year old...

Raiders no longer control their own destiny for number one overall pick

That's all it took. One win. Even after starting 0-10 and having lost 16-straight, one win over the Chiefs last Thursday Night and the Raiders are no longer in line for the number one pick -- The Jaguars own it now. Both teams are now 1-10 on the season, but the Raiders strength of schedule is higher, so should both teams lose out the final give games, the Jaguars would most likely get the number one overall pick with the Raiders getting the number two pick. No team in the NFL currently holds a higher strength of schedule than the Raiders (.612). And unless their opponents from this season...

Know the Enemy Daily Links 11/25: Reactions to Eric Berry's possible lymphoma news

AFC West Broncos Dolphins at Broncos: The No Bull Review - Mile High Report Sadaraine analyzes the Broncos taking on the Dolphins in a shoot-out in front of their home crowd. Did we just witness the evolution of Peyton Manning? - Mile High Report I recently created quite the controversy by stating the Peyton Manning was "off" in his victory over the Miami Dolphins. However, I consider that the ultimate compliment and hopeful evolution of one Mr. Peyton Manning. Denarius Moore's time in Oakland could be coming to an end

The fall has been fast and hard for Raiders fourth year wide receiver, Denarius Moore. The former starter hasn't played a snap on offense the past two weeks. All signs point to Denarius Moore's time in Oakland coming to an end very soon. A lot has happened since Moore started the opener against the Jets in which he played 50 of 56 snaps with 8 targets. He was the starter over the first three weeks of the season and that's the last time he saw more than half the offensive snaps. The final play of the Raiders offense in week three against the Patriots, Denarius had a ball bounce off his chest...

The Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers stand up for Eric Berry. That includes all the AFC West teams, who tweeted out support for Berry. Even the Raiders! Safety Eric Berry and the @KCChiefs are in our thoughts today. Get well fast, @Stuntman1429! — Denver Broncos (@Broncos) November 24, 2014 We may be rivals on the football field, but we’re all part of the @nfl family. Brandian Ross quietly having solid season for Raiders

Last season, Brandian Ross was rated as the worst safety in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. And most Raiders fans were saying ‘Well, I could've told you that.' He wasn't supposed to be the starter at all, but Tyvon Branch went down with an injury in the second game and Ross started the remainder of the season at strong safety. Ross returned for training camp with the Raiders this season but with Tyvon Branch set to start again and the Raiders looking to Usama Young as his backup, Ross was among the final cutdowns. The Dolphins signed him as a free agent and he was all set to face his...

Latavius Murray not practicing, TJ Carrie returns for Raiders

The Raiders had their first practice of the week since their Thursday Night win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Among those not practicing were running back Latavius Murray and offensive guard Gabe Jackson. Returning to practice was cornerback and return man T.J. Carrie according to media present at practice. Murray suffered a concussion against the Chiefs Thursday and must go through the concussion protocol. The concussion happened on a hit he took on this fourth carry of the game. It caused him to fumble the ball, but the Raiders recovered it. The Raiders would very much like him back...

Big turnaround for Raiders defense gaining momentum

Through the first five games this season, the Raiders defense was among the worst in the league. The offense wasn't much better, but it seemed no matter what happened, it was the defense that would collapse when it mattered most. The opener, they allowed Geno (freaking) Smith to lead the Jets downfield routinely and score. They were the only team in the NFL to lose to the Geno Smith led Jets this season. That defensive effort went from bad to worse when they were trampled by Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Houston Texans. Then after a surprise defensive performance that had the defense pumped up...

Raiders week 12 Ballers & Busters

With the Raiders playing on Thursday Night Football, it's a special weekend edition of the Ballers & Busters For the first time this season, the Ballers & Busters can be written based around those who made the biggest contributions to a WIN. Just to mix it up a little. Make things a bit more interesting. There were a lot of players who made major contributions to this win. All season the problem with this team was their inability to put together a complete game. And to get a win, they very much needed that kind of game. That's what they got Thursday night with a national television audience...

Raiders week 12 Ballers & Busters: Part two

After a pretty sizable Ballers list in the Raiders first win of the season, we move on to the Busters. Busters Darren McFadden, Maurice Jones-Drew Yet again, McFadden's lack of vision as well as his inability to break tackles was exposed in this one. Not just by his own performance, but by the glaring upgrade to the run game when Murry and Reece touched the ball. Let's start with Murray doing what McFadden can't. As soon as Murray came in the game, he ran for five yards. That may not seem like a lot, but for McFadden, who averaged 2.4 yards per carry in this game, it is. Three plays later,...

Raiders have long week to enjoy first win

With most wins (or losses), an NFL team has one, maybe two days to enjoy it before it's back to work preparing for their next opponent. In that regard, it's only fair the Raiders, who hadn't won a game in over a calendar year, get to enjoy their big 24-20 win over the Chiefs on Thursday night for a bit longer. While the rest of the NFL is having their final practice preparing to play this Sunday, the Raiders are all hugs, hand pounds, and back pats. They can relax and enjoy some college football Saturday as well as the rest of the NFL on Sunday. Or they can just get away altogether for a...

Raiders Unsung Hero: Donald Penn

On a team desperate for bright spots, one area that has been uplifting is the offensive line — anchored by left tackle Donald Penn. Marshall Faulk asks: "When you're GMC Professional Grade, you perform at a high level day in and day out, whether you're being noticed or not. As we enter the latter part of the season, who is your team's unsung hero?" An unsung hero is someone who flies under the radar — it's not the first person you think of when you think of the best players on a team, but it's the guy whose name eventually comes up in conversation, prompting everyone else to...

Oakland Raiders Fans Begin Petition For Team To Hire Bengals OC Hue Jackson In 2015

Fans of the Oakland Raiders are disenfranchised with the direction of the organization and have decided to publicly petition for the team to re-hire current Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson as their next head coach. The Oakland Raiders broke a dubious streak this week on Thursday Night Football with their unexpected win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Silver and Black had gone an entire football season without winning a game (16 contests from 2013-2014) before coming out on top of their division rivals. Since the team was the AFC Champions after the 2002 season, they have had...
