Thursday Night Football game time: Jets vs Bills

Watch tonight's AFC East tilt along with your friends at Silver & Black Pride! Greetings, Raider fans! Tonight at 5:30pm Pacific (8:30pm ET) we will witness what promises to be an exciting game between two teams which are nowhere near as good as the New England Patriots. Bills QB Tyrod Taylor hopes to have a better game than on Sunday when he had a poor outing against the Ravens, and the Jets hope to build on a near-victory against the Bengals. Bills WR Sammy Watkins will attempt to play tonight, and if he does he will probably be covered by all-world corner Darrelle Revis who will be...

Raiders-Falcons injury report: Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson return, Watson, McCants do not

The Raiders offensive line, which was banged up on Wednesday without three of five starters, got two of those starters back Thursday. Center Rodney Hudson and and right guard Gabe Jackson returned and were officially limited for practice Thursday. Meanwhile right tackles Menelik Watson and Matt McCants were still not practicing. Also returning for the Raiders after missing Wednesday's practice was running back Taiwan Jones. Austin Howard once again practiced full. He will be needed to start at right tackle with Watson not practicing with the groin injury he suffered in the season opener in...

Raiders snubs from 2017 Hall of Fame nominees

Six Raiders were among the list of Hall of Fame nominees (see those here). But there is still a backlog of Hall of Fame worthy Raiders who weren’t even among the initial 94 nominees. For the past the past three years, the Raiders have had it pretty good with regard to legendary players getting the call. Long time snubs Ray Guy and Ken Stabler finally got in – though posthumously for Stabler – thanks to the Senior Committee. As did Tim Brown and Ron Wolff. But the list of players who still can’t even get a sniff of the list of nominees is pretty long. Most notably WR Cliff Branch, TE...

Raiders CB Sean Smith Taking His Benching After Sunday in Stride

Two days after Raiders cornerback Sean Smith was torched by the Saints receivers and then benched, he took on reporters, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The eighth-year player, signed to a four-year, $40 million deal, was asked if he was surprised head coach Jack Del Rio pulled him from the game. “Not […]

Raiders week one Ballers & Busters vs Saints

For the first time in 2016, Ballers & Busters counts for more than just roster spots. These performances are for the record while the game was one of the most exciting we’ve seen in a while. Just as we expected; this was a shootout. The Saints top rated offense led by Drew Brees along with their league worst defense went against the up and coming Raiders. In some regard it was a tale of two halves. At least for the Raiders it was. The Saints were consistent on offense throughout, scoring 17 in the first half and 17 in the second. The Raiders were slow to get going, scoring 22 of their 35...

Quick hits on Raiders week 1 win over Saints

A collection of my first-pass thoughts and observations on the week one win over New Orleans After a re-watch, I've gathered a number of observations and thoughts about what I saw. It's a little bit more than my first gut reaction as I was watching it live, but it's not quite a studied analysis. Some things jump out of the screen and other things are a little bit more subtle; some things may seem one way and then reveal themselves as different upon further study, so I reserve the right to be incorrect. General Nearly 1,000 yards of combined total offense in this game (993 yds) NO's 5'10"...

Decision to Go For Two Was Made Before Raiders Began Their Winning Drive

The decision to go for a two-point conversion with less than a minute to play on the road against the Saints was not up for debate on the Raiders’ sideline, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Not even when considering that settling for the safer extra point attempt could have tied the game, while missing on […]

Gutsy Call by Del Rio Pays Off; Raiders Top Saints 35-34 on Two-Point Play

For Oakland coach Jack Del Rio, calling for a do-or-die, 2-point conversion was less a gamble than a philosophical declaration. Del Rio had no interest in a conservative point-after kick, and let his offense know it well before the decision had to be made. So when Derek Carr hit Seth Roberts for a 10-yard touchdown […]

Are the Raiders Paper Tigers in 2016??

Webster’s dictionary defines a paper tiger as  “one that is outwardly powerful or dangerous but inwardly weak or ineffectual”   Is this a fair representation of the 2016 Oakland Raiders?  Certainly looking at the team on paper, they look like a team that has improved greatly in the offseason. This season The Raiders look like they are headed towards […]

Raiders Place DE Mario Edwards Jr. on IR

The Raiders on Monday placed DE Mario Edwards Jr. on Injured Reserve with a hip injury. Edwards was injured in the preseason opener at Arizona. The Raiders had hoped Edwards would return by now but it is expected that he will receive the IR-Designated to return which would enable him to come back in Week […]

Rival Report 9/2: Defense shows up strong in final dress rehearsal before regular season

That's it folks! The 2016 preseason is officially over, the next time we see the Oakland Raiders take the field for a game it will be the real thing. Oakland may have lost this last preseason game 23-21, but they finally played a game with a defense that looked ready for the regular season. When the halftime score is 2-0, either it's been a terrible game or a defensive battle, and this one was definitely the latter of the two options. By the end of the 1st quarter one had to start wondering why Denico Autry was on the field. Autry played so well throughout that first half that it seemed...

Raiders Ready to Move From Oakland to Las Vegas? Name Trademark Applied For

Possibly growing tired of the ongoing issues with the stadium in Oakland, the Raiders may be in the process of looking to move, as the team has officially applied for the trademark ‘Las Vegas Raiders.’ It’s been a threat for awhile that the Raiders would eventually leave Oakland wind up playing elsewhere, but this is […]
