Raiders at Bears preview: What to watch for, match-ups, storylines, more

Week four is upon us. The Raiders are in Chicago for their second-straight road game after a win in Cleveland last week gave them their first road win in two years. That one was their first win in the Eastern Time zone ins 6 years, and while this one is technically in the Central time zone, it's still an early start time (10am Pacific) which has proven problematic for the Raiders or any West Coast team. To see all the viewing details on the game as well as coverage map, click here. Road favorites (It's a trap!) Even with the early start time, the Raiders are 3-point favorites to win...

Raiders vs Bears: Five Good Questions with Windy City Gridiron

In preparation for the Raiders facing the Bears in Chicago Sunday, I spoke with Dane Noble, editor for Bears blog Windy City Gridiron. Here is what he had to say. 1. It looks like the Bears could be without Jay Cutler, what do you expect from Jimmy Clausen? Honestly I think Cutler plays. He was warming up last week before the game with no noticeable limp, but they decided to give him another week of rest for his injured hamstring. If for some reason Clausen does play again this week, we won't expect much.  Just like last week in Seattle, offensive coordinator Adam Gase will focus on a...

What's behind Raiders return to relevance

The Oakland Raiders have taken the league by surprise, boasting a 2-1 record to start the 2015 NFL Season. After 12 consecutive seasons without posting a winning record, what is the cause this turnaround? Great teams are built through the NFL Draft, and the reason the Raiders are on the upswing is because they have filled the team with young talent under general manager Reggie McKenzie. In four years as GM, McKenzie's three first round picks have been D.J. Hayden (2013), Khalil Mack (2014), and Amari Cooper (2015). While Hayden has yet to live up to the hype, Mack and Cooper have had early...

It's week 4 of the 2015 season and the Raiders are headed for Chicago to face the Bears. The Raiders have won two-in-a-row and are 2-1 on the season. The Bears are 0-3 and reeling with the worst defense in the NFL and a depleted offense with key starting QB  Jay Cutler, WR  Alshon Jeffery, and LT  Jurmon Bushrod. Here's how to catch the game: Nuts and bolts Raiders depth chart Injury report Location: Soldier Field, Chicago IL Game time: Sunday, October 4, 10:00 am Pacific (1:00 pm ET) TV channel: CBS (Do I get the game?) Sebastian Janikowski to become the new Mr Raider?

This year,  Raiders legendary wide receiver Tim Brown was inducted in to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. For his career, he was dubbed 'Mr Raider' due in part to the fact that he was the franchise's all-time leader in games played. As of Sunday, he will no longer hold sole possession of that title. This Sunday when the Raider face the Bears in Chicago, kicker Sebastian Janikowski will appear in his 240th game in Silver & Black. That will tie Tim Brown for the most games played in a Raiders uniform. Janikowski and Brown are already currently the only two players in Raiders' history to spend...

Bears Pro Bowl WR Alshon Jeffery not expected to play vs Raiders

The injury news out of Chicago has not been good for the Bears these days. With Jay Cutler's status already up in the air with a hamstring injury, now wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to miss his third consecutive game with a hamstring injury according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson. Jeffery injured his hamstring in the team's season opener. He was limited in practice this week, but the injury has not responded as the team had hoped causing them to sit him down another week. Jeffery is a big part of the Chicago Bears' offense. A Pro Bowler in 2013 with over 1400 receiving yards, he...

RaiderDamus' Friday Foretelling: Raiders vs. Bears

What fate will befall our beloved Oakland Raiders in Chicago against Da Bears? Read and find out! Greetings, Raider fans! It is I, RaiderDamus, the man who holds the world record for most Polish sausages consumed out of sheer sorrow during the 2014 NFL season. I come to you today triumphant, having correctly predicted the Raiders' triumph in Cleveland over the Browns. The Browns, as always, get a gold star for trying, but the Raiders get the victory. This week they will travel to the hostile confines of Soldier Field to take on the worst team in football, the Chicago Bears. I consulted the...

Raiders vs Bears injury report: Khalil Mack limited with hip injury

For the second week in a row, Justin Tuck and Charles Woodson didn't practice Wednesday only to be back on the practice field Thursday. That was expected. However, a situation worth monitoring will be the status of Khalil Mack, who showed up on the injury report today with a hip injury. Often times when a player is officially limited who hadn't missed practice prior to that, it's because it was an injury suffered in practice that day and they were unable to finish. Whether it is something to be concerned about will depend on if the injury causes him to miss practice Friday. We'll know more...

PFF grades: Raiders with NFL's best offensive linemen, DJ Hayden among worst corners

The Pro Football Focus grades for the first three weeks of the NFL season are out and they are pretty indicative of what we have seen thus far. That the Raiders offensive line has been superb and their secondary has major issues. In particular, the left side of the Raiders' line boasts the best pass blocking left tackle and best overall guard. Donald Penn's +6.3 pass-blocking grade has him ranked first among all offensive tackles through three weeks. He has allowed just three hurries on 125 pass-blocking snaps. Hudson is second to Nick Mangold in pass-blocking grades for centers...

Chicago Bears vs. Oakland Raiders: Game time, TV channel, online streaming, odds, picks, announcers and more

The Chicago Bears square off against the Oakland Raiders in Week 4 of the 2015 season. We've got all you need to know inside, including TV maps, streaming info, and more. The Chicago Bears have started the season 0-3, and many Chicago Bears fans are already looking ahead to next year's NFL Draft.  While an 0-4 start is certainly possible, John Fox and coordinators Adam Gase and Vic Fangio have been coming up with a pretty good game plan in each game this season, and with news of a possible Jay Cutler and Jeremiah Ratliff return this week, the Bears may not let the Raiders come in and play...

See? THAT is why we want Jay Cutler back this Sunday

10 possessions. 10 punts. Zero points. Let's be clear Chicago: THAT is why I defend Jay Cutler. Call me a man with low standards if you want. Or just a man with eyes. Jay makes life fun, not to mention competitive. Trust me: You want him back this week. I'm a stat man, and the stat I can't quite wrap my head around is the Bears offense going 10-for-10 on possessions ending in a punt. Before we move on to the Raiders or discuss the so-called fire sale, let's sit in that for a moment. Ordinarily a team down 20 with zero points to their name will take a shot on a 4th-and-long and secure at...

NFL week 3 game picks: Can Raiders keep it going in Chicago?

After a brutal week two in which only one of the staff didn't have a losing record (yours truly at 8-8), we have what could be the best week of picks ever. One in which six of seven staffers had a record of 14-2 or better. The better was Nitesh who pulled down a 15-1 record. The one worse was Jeff, who was apparently attempting (and succeeding) to sabotage his previous spot at the top of the rankings with a 9-7 record. For once, it was the one person who did NOT pick the Raiders to win that turned out to be wrong (Jeff). The rest of us correctly picked the Raiders breaking their long...

Chicago Bears DT Jeremiah Ratliff could return from suspension versus Raiders

The team isn't saying much as Ratliff continues nursing an ankle injury sustained in the preseason, but they could have their best defensive lineman back on the field this weekend versus the Raiders. One of the biggest weak spots for the Chicago Bears is their defensive tackle position, due to a combination of lack of talent, lack of experience, and lack of depth. They have been without starting DT Jeremiah Ratliff for the first three games this season due to a suspension stemming from a 2013 DWI conviction, but defensive coordinator Vic Fangio says that he wouldn't have played anyway due...

Raiders vs Bears injury report: Jay Cutler practices, Jack Del Rio "shocked" if he doesn't play

The first injury report is out for the Raiders and Bears for their week 4 match-up. Among the returns to practice for the Bears is quarterback, Jay Cutler. This is somewhat of a surprise considering he suffered a hamstring injury that was supposed to have him out this week. But Jack Del Rio is having none of it. He fully expects to face Cutler Sunday. "I think there's a big difference between Jay Cutler and the other guys," said Del Rio. "That's not to slight them, but he's a more accomplished player. Jay is a good football player. He's got tremendous arm talent. We want to make sure that...

Jack Del Rio wants Raiders to beat mentor John Fox Bears

This Sunday, Jack Del Rio will face off against the one man in the NFL ranks who may know him better than anyone else - John Fox. Del Rio got his first coordinator job under Fox in Carolina and after Del Rio's 9 seasons as head coach in Jacksonville, he rejoined Fox as defensive coordinator with the Broncos. Since then, Del Rio left to become the head coach in Oakland, and Fox was let go and was hired to be the head coach of the Bears. Now just months after being on the same coaching staff, they face off as opposing head coaches. It's a match-up that heightens Del Rio's urge to come out...

Raiders week 3 Ballers & Busters vs Browns

What a ride. The Raiders went into Cleveland and fought hard to pull out their first win in the Eastern Time Zone in six years. They jumped out to a 17-3 half time lead in part from playing efficient football, but also being the beneficiary of the Browns making some dumb mistakes. A nice looking opening drive by the Raiders resulting in a field goal to open the game. In the second quarter, the Raiders took advantage of a roughing the kicker penalty to drive for their first touchdown of the day. They would add another touchdown to take a 17-3 half time lead. The Browns made a strong comeback...
