Raiders Ready to Move From Oakland to Las Vegas? Name Trademark Applied For

Possibly growing tired of the ongoing issues with the stadium in Oakland, the Raiders may be in the process of looking to move, as the team has officially applied for the trademark ‘Las Vegas Raiders.’ It’s been a threat for awhile that the Raiders would eventually leave Oakland wind up playing elsewhere, but this is […]

Raiders Darius Latham is PFF top graded rookie DT after two preseason games

Prior to reading the headline of this article, if I were to ask you who the best looking Raiders rookie is, who would you guess? Jihad Ward? DeAndre Washington? James Cowser? Well, according to grades put out by Pro Football Focus, the best looking Raiders rookie is undrafted defensive lineman Darius Latham. Not only does PFF think he’s the best looking Raiders rookie, they think the former Indiana Hoosier is the best rookie defensive tackle in the NFL over the first two weeks of the preseason. Top graded rookies through two weeks of the preseasonDT/NT: Darius Latham, OAK4-3 OLB: Jeremy...

Raiders vs Packers preseason week two recap: Raiders take big leap back at Lambeau

There wasn't much of what the Raiders showed in their preseason opener when they headed to Green Bay. With Aaron Rodgers sitting this one out, taking the field to start at quarterback was Brett Hundley. But it didn’t matter who was at QB, the Raiders were flat out ran over in the opening drive. Eddie Lacy gashed them for 45 yards and a touchdown on nine carries to lead out the contest. The Raiders had to answer with their own ground attack and weren’t able to do it. Latavius Murray had just 7 yards on 3 carries. The highlight was a gorgeous pass around the defender and dropped into...

Raiders vs. Packers: Brett Hundley leaves early game with ankle injury

After missing the preseason opener with an ankle injury, quarterback Brett Hundley exists his debut early with another. Brett Hundley cannot seem to avoid ankle trouble this preseason. On Thursday, the second-year quarterback left the Green Bay Packers’ preseason tilt with the Oakland Raiders early after appearing to re-aggravate the ankle. While dropping back for a pass early in the game’s second quarter, Hundley absorbed a hit from Raiders All-Pro edge rusher Khalil Mack. Hundley came up limping from the hit and immediately limped off to the sideline. Undrafted rookie passer Joe...

Packers vs. Raiders Preseason 2016: Game time, TV channels, online streaming, & more

Green Bay resumes preseason action this Thursday - here’s how and when to tune in. After a 17-11 victory over the Cleveland Browns last Friday, the Green Bay Packers will resume their preseason schedule this week with a home game against an organization with many ties to the Packers in recent years. However, although the Oakland Raiders still employ former Packers executive Reggie McKenzie as the team’s General Manager, they no longer have any former Green Bay players on their roster. Contrast that to last year’s meeting, when Charles Woodson still roamed the secondary for the...

Raiders add free agent tight end to replace injured Gabe Holmes

On the Raiders final day of training camp in Napa, the team announced they have signed undrafted free agent tight end Jake McGee. He will replace the void left with tight end Gabe Holmes who will be headed to injured reserve. The roster spot was open immediately after the team waived offensive tackle Torian White Monday. McGee spent three seasons at Virginia before transferring to Florida where he played his final two seasons. He appeared in 50 games combined at Virginia and Florida totaling 112 receptions for 1,150 yards with 11 touchdowns. As a senior he was named to the AP All-SEC...

Rival Report 8/15: Some NFL coaches believe new touchback rule will be counterproductive

The NFL instituted a new rule that was designed to encourage teams to accept touchbacks instead of attempt returns, but it already appears to not be working as designed. They thought that moving the touchback out to the 25 instead of the 20 would create less returns, but teams are strategically kicking shorter because of the new rule. That means that the ball isn't getting into the end-zone in order for teams to accept touchbacks more, which will actually create more returns instead of less of them. Teams figured out that they could pooch kick their kickoffs short and high, thus creating a...

Raiders LB Ben Heeney welcomes new baby girl

Just days after Heeney took the field for the first time as the Raiders starting middle linebacker, he welcomed his second Heeney baby into the world. He announced the birth this morning and just a bit ago posted a photo on his Instagram account. Her name is Blake Elizabeth Heeney. This time last year, I was saying that Ben Heeney's life was pretty damn good. He graduated from Kansas University, got drafted in the fifth round by the Raiders, got engaged to Taylor Alderson, and the two welcomed their first child into the world -- Tatum Clarke Heeney. This offseason was a...

Raiders preseason week 1 Ballers & Busters vs Cardinals

Football is back! And with it Ballers & Busters. Preseason is right in the B&B wheelhouse because it's all about individual performances and now is when these guys want to stand out and either push for playing time or a roster spot. It was off to the desert for the Raiders to open the 2016 preseason. The starters played two series and then began exiting the game. Though for the Cardinals, Carson Palmer would play just one series in which he led them down the field for a field goal to leave up 3-0. Derek Carr came back out for a second series and tied the game up. He, Amari Cooper, and...

The Morning After: Raiders open preseason with victory against Cardinals

Football is back folks! Oh what a feeling! It is such a relief just to see the Raiders shield back on the field, but watching them beat a good team 31-10 in the process is even better. We do have to keep it in perspective though, it was just the first preseason game so the victory is pretty much without any real meaning to it. I know, every win matters Marcus! Except there are many times throughout the history of the NFL that shows a team dominate the preseason only to go on to have a terrible season. Wins are not what the preseason is all about, it's about evaluating personnel and trying...

Preseason Week 1 Raiders vs. Cardinals Game Time Open Thread

Join us as we chat about the Raiders vs. Cardinals and get our first glimpse of Jack Del Rio's new-look Oakland Raiders squad! Greetings, Raider fans! Game time is almost upon us and it's time for our first Raiders game thread of the year. Derek Carr and the Raiders starters probably will play about a quarter of the game and then give way to Oakland's many talented backups who are fighting for roster spots. Who will shine tonight for the Silver and Black? The Cardinals won't be playing a lot of their starters and we won't see first rounder DT Robert Nkemdiche but this team is well-coached...

Jalen Richard among those who won't dress for Raiders, Karl Joseph could play

The Raiders announced three players who won't dress for the game tonight in Arizona and Karl Joseph was not one of them. With it being the preseason, the Raiders aren't obligated to announce any inactives, but they opted to name three players who will not dress for tonight's game. Those players are running back Jalen Richard, cornerback Antonio Hamilton, and safety Jimmy Hall. All three of whom were not at practice on Wednesday. Making Denico Autry the only player who missed Wednesday's practice who is not among those who will not dress. The player who was most anticipated was Richard, who...

Raiders players to watch in preseason opener

At 7:00pm tonight, the Raiders will open their preseason in Arizona against the Cardinals with a lot of players looking to make their mark. Preseason games can be exciting to watch for those who are looking to get an idea of who is pushing for a roster spot and those who may be considered the future of the team. That especially holds true in the first preseason, where the 2nd team and beyond will see most of the snaps. Here are a few players who are pushing to secure their position on the roster or who are on the bubble. DJ Hayden -€” Hayden has transitioned to slot cornerback and has...

Arizona Cardinals vs Oakland Raiders Preseason Preview: What to Watch

Five things to watch in the Arizona Cardinals first preseason game against the Oakland Raiders. It is finally time... Kind of.  The Arizona Cardinals open up the 2016 preseason with a matchup against the Oakland Raiders. Here are five things I'll be watching for in tonight's game. How Does the OL Look? Obviously we won't get a ton of looks as the Raiders and Cardinals starters will get only a couple of series, but we should be able to gauge how much work D.J. Humphries, Evan Mathis and A.Q. Shipley have to do. It will be a lot of vanilla play calling and man on man situations, so...

Raiders starters limited to first quarter in preseason opener in Arizona

Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio wants to give the starters some playing time, but limit it so as to give everyone in the game who is able. Football is just days away for the Raiders when they head to Arizona to face the Cardinals on Friday. As is standard, the starters will get a taste of the real thing for probably a couple series, with the backups and roster hopefuls getting the bulk of the reps on the game. "They're definitely ready to see another team," said Del Rio. "You know, it's that time in camp and we welcome seeing new schemes and new players and new ways of doing things. You...

Neiron Ball not practicing for Raiders

Missing training camp practice today for the Raiders is linebacker Neiron Ball. The second year linebacker missed half his rookie season with a knee injury. That injury recovery kept him out of the team's entire offseason program. He was available from the start of camp. He is at practice today, but standing on the sideline out of full uniform. There are three possibilities; either it's a setback of the previous injury, a new injury, or just held as a precaution. The third option becomes a possibility after Del Rio had held both Karl Joseph and Clive Walford out of practice last week. They...

NFL Personnel director not sold on Derek Carr, questions "poise under pressure"

For the third year, Mike Sando over at ESPN puts together quarterback rankings based on votes he receives from various NFL insiders consisting of GM's, coaches, coordinators, and personnel evaluators. From those votes, he put the NFL's 32 starting quarterbacks into five tiers, from those who carry the team to those who shouldn't be starters in the NFL. Coming in right in the middle of the pack, and leading out tier three, which is described as "Legit starter but needs heavy run game/defense to win" was Derek Carr. Some of the insiders polled had some serious concerns about Carr. "He gets...
