Rod Woodson with elite backpedal on recent criticisms of Raiders

Rod Woodson with elite backpedal on recent criticisms of Raiders

Contrary to popular belief in the Bay Area, not everyone has shown unmitigated excitement for the Oakland Raiders’ hiring of Jon Gruden. Former Raiders defensive back and coach Rod Woodson has certainly not been one of Gruden’s biggest advocates this offseason. In March, Woodson criticized the size and length of Jon Gruden’s contract, his coaching abilities, and some of the offseason moves Gruden made including getting rid of Michael Crabtree and signing Jordy Nelson and Doug Martin. and saying Derek Carr is no Aaron Rodgers. A refresher on his remarks can be found here. Recently,...

Arden Key signs on the dotted line, officially becomes a Raider

Heading into minicamp, only one draft pick remained unsigned, but Arden Key signed on Friday, and now the team is ready to go heading into training camp. During his time at LSU, Arden Key established himself as one of the best in the nation at getting after the quarterback. Unfortunately for Tigers fans, he struggled […] Arden Key signs on the dotted line, officially becomes a Raider - Just Blog Baby - Just Blog Baby - An Oakland Raiders Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Raiders sign third-round pick DE Arden Key

The Raiders have signed LSU edge rusher and third-round draft pick Arden Key, they announced Friday. Key was the last unsigned member of this year’s nine-player draft class for the Raiders. Key was twice a first-team All-SEC selection at LSU and set a school record with 12 sacks in 2016. He was available to the Raiders at No. 87 overall in the draft in part because of a rocky final college season that included a leave of absence, injuries and weight gain. Key vowed last month: “I’m back to my 2016 (form). I got down, lost the weight.”...

Report: Raiders fear possible suspension looming for WR Martavis Bryant

Report: Raiders fear possible suspension looming for WR Martavis Bryant

The Oakland Raiders made a big splash trade on draft day to acquire WR Martavis Bryant from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 3rd round pick, and they have big plans for him as a major piece of their offense. That is if he can stay on the field and avoid another suspension from the league, something that the Raiders reportedly are already in fear of happening according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. The report says the team is fearing discipline from the league for Bryant is coming imminently. Multiple team officials declined to comment on the situation but did acknowledged in the report that...

Raiders 2018 mandatory minicamp recap: Notes, observations

Raiders 2018 mandatory minicamp recap: Notes, observations

The offseason program is over for the Raiders. So, before we head off into the 6-week break, let’s wrap this puppy in a bow. Here are my notes and observations from the three-day minicamp. Raiders who missed all of minicamp were DE Khalil Mack (contract holdout), DT Eddie Vanderdoes (ACL), S Marcus Gilchrist (hamstring), OL Jordan Simmons, and CB Nick Nelson (meniscus). Gareon Conley missed the final two practices (groin). The first two days were full speed practices with team sessions. The third day was walk-thrus only. Jon Gruden is hilarious. It has never been more of a struggle to...

Third round DE Arden Key signed, entire 2018 draft class now under contract

On the first day of the offseason break, the Raiders got the final loose end of their draft class tied up. They have signed third round defensive end Arden Key. He was the last of their nine draft picks still to sign. Most of the others were signed last month.

Khalil Mack worth more than Von Miller so Raiders must pay him like it

Khalil Mack worth more than Von Miller so Raiders must pay him like it

Has Oakland Raiders edge rusher Khalil Mack done enough in the NFL to get paid as much as the highest paid edge rusher. Minicamp is in the books and, of course, there were no signs of Khalil Mack, who’s looking for a new contract. Negotiations are obviously private but it’s probably safe to assume Mack is looking for more money than Denver Broncos edge rusher Von Miller, who is currently the NFL’s highest paid edge rusher. Fans all over social media these days are arguing over whether Mack is worth more than Miller. But all anyone has to do is look at the last three years to see...

Kevin Colbert for GM of the year: Martavis Bryant facing another suspension with the Raiders

The decision to trade Martavis Bryant already is looking like a great move by Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert, and it has nothing to do with the development of Mason Rudolph.
Report: Raiders fear disciplinary actions await WR Martavis Bryant

Report: Raiders fear disciplinary actions await WR Martavis Bryant

While it is unsure what discipline awaits, this isn’t a good sign for the Oakland Raiders. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, during the 2018 NFL Draft they decided to part ways with wide receiver Martavis Bryantto acquire a 3rd round draft pick. After all, with Bryant being a 4th round pick himself, it certainly seemed like a great deal for the black-and-gold. On top of the tangibles on the field, Bryant’s off-field issues certainly had to make pulling the trigger on this trade easier. After being suspended for an entire year due to violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, one more...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Raiders await NFL disciplinary action on Martavis Bryant

Well, it looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers can add another win to the trade column as Martavis Bryant is in trouble with the NFL, yet again. The Oakland Raiders took a chance on a player they believed was back on the path to success. Martavis Bryant only got a year under his belt before teams […] Pittsburgh Steelers: Raiders await NFL disciplinary action on Martavis Bryant - Still Curtain - Still Curtain - A Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.
JuJu Smith-Schuster prefers the slot, which is great news for James Washington

JuJu Smith-Schuster prefers the slot, which is great news for James Washington

Expected to have a big second year, JuJu Smith-Schuster’s flexibility might equate to big things for rookie James Washington. The Pittsburgh Steelers shipping Martavis Bryant to the Oakland Raiders did more than just rock the fan base, it shook up the team’s wide-receiver depth chart. Once considered the most complete receiver group in the NFL, the Bryant trade meant the team would be relying heavily on younger players to step up. One of those players is second-year receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Coming off of a season where he nearly eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark,...

Under Sanjay Lal’s direction, the Cowboys Cole Beasley could see a contract extension in his future

Could Beasley have a breakout season in 2018? The Dallas Cowboys are having open auditions for the role of the team’s number one wide receiver. Okay, so maybe it’s not open as it’s limited to a selected group of players, but as it stands now - the role of Dak Prescott’s favorite target is still up for grabs. With Dez Bryant gone and now playing for the [enter new team here when it finally happens], Brice Butler moving out to the desert, and Ryan Switzer heading to the California bay to play for the Oakland Raiders - the wideout group has been remodeled.
