Reports of the Steelers listening to potential trades for Martavis Bryant hit the national media

Reports of the Steelers listening to potential trades for Martavis Bryant hit the national media

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly listening to phone calls when it comes to potential trades for Martavis Bryant. Earlier this week a Twitter report suggested several teams, including the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts, had shown interest in Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant. Rumors were the Dolphins even were interested in a one-for-one trade with DeVante Parker. (If you missed that report, you can check it out HERE.) The one hold up regarding this report was the source. It wasn’t from an Adam Schefter or Jason La Confora....

Steelers 2018 Free Agent Market Watch: The Wide Receivers

Steelers 2018 Free Agent Market Watch: The Wide Receivers

BTSC highlights free agent receivers and whether or not they may be an option for the Steelers. The Steelers corps of receivers are head and shoulders above where they ere last year at this time. Antonio Brown was All-World again in 2017, JuJu Smith-Schuster was a rookie sensation that came close to 1,000 yards and Martavis Bryant made great strides towards season's end in coming off of a drug suspension. The unit, as a whole, doesn't need much of an upgrade at all. But Justin Hunter is a free agent, Eli Rogers was suspect and Darius Heyward-Bey is getting long in the tooth. Even though...

Lawrence Timmons expected to be released by the Dolphins, but do the Steelers want him?

Lawrence Timmons expected to be released by the Dolphins, but do the Steelers want him?

The anticipated release of Lawrence Timmons by the Miami Dolphins raises the question of whether the Steelers want him back. I’ve never personally met anyone who didn’t like Lawrence Timmons. Mike Tomlin’s first draft pick as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007 was a fan favorite for his low-key personality and hard-nosed playing style. After the 2016 season, as a free agent, Timmons signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Dolphins last March, and the deal included $11 million in guaranteed money. After collecting 84 tackles in 14 games (all starts), it was...
Burning Questions: How much is Joe Haden worth to the Steelers secondary?

Burning Questions: How much is Joe Haden worth to the Steelers secondary?

Joe Haden didn’t grade out particularly well in his 2017 performance with the Steelers, and he’s due $10 million per year for each of the next two years. That’s simply too much for his output, but he’s still a solid cornerback. But what is he actually worth at this point? It’s hard to find a quantifiable measure by which we can determine the value of a defensive back. There are too many variables. Ike Taylor was a valuable cornerback for the Steelers for years, despite a well-documented inability to consistently hold on to even easy interceptions. Cortez Allen, meanwhile, had an...

Steelers 2018 Free Agent Market Watch: The Tight Ends

Steelers 2018 Free Agent Market Watch: The Tight Ends

Taking a look at some free agent tight ends the Steelers could target if they feel the need to add to their current depth chart. I don't think that the Steelers’ situation at the tight end position is that bad, but unfortunately, It comes down to the injury report. The team acquired Vance McDonald from the 49ers right before the 2017 opener, but can they rely on the big man to stay healthy? The trio of McDonald, Jesse James and Xavier Grimble would be a solid stable, but McDonald was only available for ten games last year. The team has just listed McDonald as the starter on the depth...

Predicting the Pittsburgh Steelers complete offseason 1.0

Taking you through the entire Steelers offseason and predicting everything from players who will be cut, mock draft, who will be re-signed and more! I recently shared a three part series about Le’Veon Bell, as well as an offseason primer, so with all that work out of the way I think it is about time that I share a complete mock of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offseason. I am not going to go into specifics with contracts, and cap savings, and cap specifics, this exercise is to just share a general impression of how I believe the team will attack the coming months.HERE WE GO STEELERS...
Report: Steelers now receive 6th round pick from Giants in Ross Cockrell trade

Report: Steelers now receive 6th round pick from Giants in Ross Cockrell trade

What was initially a 7th round draft pick in the trade with the Giants, has now reportedly turned into a 6th round pick. The Pittsburgh Steelers had one heck of a cornerback battle going throughout the preseason between Ross Cockrell and Coty Sensabaugh to see who would start opposite Artie Burns in the 2017 season opener. And then Joe Haden happened. When the Steelers signed the Pro Bowl cornerback from Cleveland as a free agent, it made Cockrell, who lost said cornerback battle, expendable. Pittsburgh shipped Cockrell to the New York Giants for a 7th round draft pick. Or so we...
February 20th marks an important date for the Steelers and Le’Veon Bell

February 20th marks an important date for the Steelers and Le’Veon Bell

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Le’Veon Bell will likely be doing some talking Tuesday. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Le’Veon Bell have reportedly been going through some long-term contract negotiations, and Tuesday, February 20th is a big day in those discussions. Reportedly, the Steelers and Bell circled the 20th on the calendar as a goal to get a long-term contract completed. Why the 20th? The 20th of February is the first day NFL franchises can choose to place franchise tags on players, something Bell would like to avoid for the second straight year. This from ProFootballTalk back during...
