NFL power rankings week 7: The green arrow is back, baby!

NFL power rankings week 7: The green arrow is back, baby!

It’s been a while since we have taken the power rankings tour after a win. It will be nice to see an appearance from our old friend, the green arrow pointing up. He has been missed. Here’s how the Titans rank around the web: ESPN: 21 (LW:23) The Titans have the third-easiest remaining strength of schedule. Of their remaining 10 games, only two are against teams that currently own a winning record: Week 11 at the Steelers and Week 16 against the Rams. The winless Browns are up next. Yahoo!: 19 (LW:22) Monday night was the kind of game you need to see before you crown someone a franchise...

Dick LeBeau made some great halftime adjustments in Titans win over the Colts

Dick LeBeau made some great halftime adjustments in Titans win over the Colts

I was killing Dick LeBeau in the first half last night. The Titans weren’t doing anything to generate a pass rush and Jacoby Brissett was picking them apart. Well credit LeBeau with doing making the proper adjustments during halftime. Check out these stats from PFF (emphasis mine): The Titans blitzed on 30 percent of pass plays versus the Colts, and nearly 70 percent of their blitzes occurred during the 2nd half of the game. Colts QB Jacoby Brissett struggled when blitzed, as he connected on just 50 percent of his throws for a 64.6 passer rating. The Titans defense managed to...

Tennessee Titans Podcast: Gutsy Mariota Comes Through to Beat the Colts

Tennessee Titans Podcast: Gutsy Mariota Comes Through to Beat the Colts

Recapping a great night. How great was that last night? The Tennessee Titans closed out the Indianapolis Colts to move into a three way tie for the division lead. Marcus Mariota was brilliant while hobbled. The passing game was in rhythm for the first time all season. The defense made adjustments and came up big when they had to. We’ll break all of that down, plus Jon Gruden’s bizarre calls from the booth.

WATCH Derrick Henry end the Titans losing streak to the Colts!!!

This is one of my favorite runs in the history of football: DERRICK HENRY 72-YARD TD SEALS THE GAME!#INDvsTEN #TitanUp pic.twitter.com/jyXsX2Mxx9— NFL (@NFL) October 17, 2017 That burst from someone that big is just downright ridiculous. It was so great to see the Titans finally end the streak against the Colts.

Titans end the streak, beat the Colts 36-22

Titans end the streak, beat the Colts 36-22

Boom! The streak is over. The Titans have beaten the Colts for the first time since 2011. Here’s how it went down. For once, the Tennessee Titans jumped out to an early lead. It was just a field goal, but getting points on the first drive has been an issue for the team lately. Mariota started the game and looked decent, leading a drive into Colts’ territory. The drive stalled, but Ryan Succop was able to boot one through to give the Titans a 3-0 lead. A big run from Marlon Mack had the Colts off and running immediately. Jacoby Brissett threw what should have been a touchdown up the...
Colts at Titans - Monday Night Football Live Blog

Colts at Titans - Monday Night Football Live Blog

A game that looked like a meaningless game between mediocre teams now looks like a game of significance with the winner getting into the thick of the AFC playoff picture. The Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans look to capitalize on a slew of losses by AFC playoff contenders in Week 6. The winner of this game will move to .500 and keep pace with a big chunk of the conference. Marcus Mariota will play in this game, which should give the Titans a slight edge at home. The wild card will be Jacoby Brissett who could be a big factor for the Colts if they are to win this game. Colts vs....

2017 Week 6 Colts v Titans: Open Thread

2017 Week 6 Colts v Titans: Open Thread

The Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans prepare to face off with identical 2-3 records and with a chance to play their way into a three-way tie for first place in the AFC South. The loser will be alone in last. There are some positive things to note as Indianapolis heads into Nashville that could help their chances to pull out a big win. One is that there is a good match-up between the Colts defensive strength against the run and the Titans offensive scheme that features it. Another is that quarterback Marcus Mariota may still be recovering from a hamstring injury that could keep him...

Monday Night Football: Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans Live Thread & Game Information

Monday Night Football: Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans Live Thread & Game Information

This weeks Monday Night Football game features the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans. The Colts have a two and 3 record coming into tonight's game putting them into 4th place in the AFC South. Indy started out the year dropping their first two games to the Los Angles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals. The Colts rebounded in week three defeating the Cleveland Browns before once again dropping a game to the Seattle Seahawks. Indy once again rebounded last week defeating the San Francisco 49ers. Just like their division mates the Colts, the Titans enter the night with a 2 and 3 record...

How to watch tonight’s game Before Week 6 of the NFL season can come to the end, the Indianapolis Colts will go on the road to play the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football. The game is slated to be on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. EST. The Colts come into tonight’s game tied for last in the AFC South with a 2-3 record. Titans-Colts: Monday Night Football Inactives

Titans-Colts: Monday Night Football Inactives

The big news here is that Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is active and is set to start, as expected. He missed just one game with his strained hamstring. The Titans have kept reserve quarterback Brandon Weeden active, just in case. The surprise of the night is Sylvester Williams being inactive. Austin Johnson will play in his place at nose tackle. Kevin Dodd, Darius Jennings, Corey Levin and Kalan Reed won’t go tonight. Corey Davis and Johnathan Cyprien were ruled out earlier this week. Full Titans inactives are Sly Williams, Kevin Dodd, Corey Davis, Johnathan Cyprien, Kalan Reed,...

All-22 Review: Titans-Dolphins

All-22 Review: Titans-Dolphins

The defense bounced back, but that wasn’t enough to overcome the refs and Matt Cassel. I skipped last week’s All-22 post because that game was far too painful the first time I watched it. I simply couldn’t muster the courage to go back and break down every play. However, I’m going to suffer through a full game of Matt Cassel vs Jay Cutler because I think it will be interesting to see if we can figure out what went wrong in the running game. Were the Dolphins just selling out to stop Murray and Henry? How much did the drop off from Taylor Lewan to Dennis Kelly hurt? Did Ndamukong Suh...

Titans have the second easiest 2017 schedule

Titans have the second easiest 2017 schedule

We have been saying for a while now that the Titans schedule is going to lighten up. Opening with the Raiders and Seahawks at home and Jaguars and Texans on the road was no easy task. The Titans managed to emerge from that at 2-2 which was where most of us realistically expected them to be. The loss to the Dolphins was a gut-punch, but the Titans are hardly alone in losing games they should win. Just look at yesterday when the Falcons lost to those same Dolphins at home, and the Broncos lost to the Giants at home with Eli Manning throwing to Trevor and SuperHorn. Anyway, back to the fact...

Titans vs. Colts: Reasons For Confidence And Concern

Titans vs. Colts: Reasons For Confidence And Concern

It’s time. Normally, I would talk about last week’s game or rant about why I hate the Colts so, so, SO much here. However, I can’t even remember last week’s game because of how ridiculous it was, and honestly, I can’t trash talk the Colts until the Titans beat them. The time is now. Here we go: Reasons For Confidence: Pass Rush, Aerial Attack, 8 is BACK! Pass Rush: The Colts’ offensive line is at the bottom of the league in terms of pass protection. They have given up 18 sacks, which is tied for the 4th most in the league. On the other side, Casey, Orakpo, and Morgan...

Tennessee Titans Podcast: Week Six in the AFC South; Colts Preview

It’s game day! Welcome to a new week of Locked on Titans podcasts. Today, Jimmy and I looked ahead to tonight’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. We also took a look at what happened today in Jacksonville and Houston. Of course, we discussed the impact of Marcus Mariota being able to play tonight. Vegas seems to think it’s a huge deal as the Titans opened as eight point favorites. We’ll be back tomorrow morning with a reaction podcast as we break down everything that happened against the Colts.

Report: Marcus Mariota to play against the Colts

Report: Marcus Mariota to play against the Colts

Paul Kuharsky reported earlier today that Marcus Mariota is expected to play tomorrow night against the Colts. We have been talking all week about how this is the direction that things were trending. It is good to get some reassurance here from PK. The Titans really need this game. 3-3 would put the Titans in a tie for the AFC South lead. I feel pretty good about their chances in this game with Mariota under center. The Titans don’t get many chances to play in front of a national audience. I am so glad the first national exposure this team gets won’t be with Matt Cassel playing...

Titans Practice Report: Marcus Mariota limited, Mularkey hopeful

An update. Hopefully we are nearing the end of the Marcus Mariota injury saga. The Titans have sort of strung us along this week with updates, but they are hopeful that he’s able to go on Monday night against the Colts. Titans’ head coach Mike Mularkey said that Mariota didn’t have any setbacks this week with his injured hamstring. He said that the team is hopeful Mariota can play. Mularkey mentioned that he did a little more today and that he would do a little more tomorrow, which is what we’ve heard for two weeks. Mariota was officially listed as limited during the Friday...

Time for some Titans-Colts group therapy

Time for some Titans-Colts group therapy

So the Titans haven’t beaten the Colts in almost 6 years. The last win was October 30, 2011, and the Titans had lost 5 in a row before that win. To put it in perspective, my 9 year old has seen more Alabama National Championships (4) than he has Titans wins over the Colts (2 and the first one was when he was less than 2 months old). That’s ridiculous. So can the Titans finally end the streak on Monday night? I really like their chances as long as Marcus Mariota plays. The Colts just aren’t a very good team without Andrew Luck, but hey, in the first game last year the Colts were...

NFL week 6 picks against the spread

NFL week 6 picks against the spread

How is it week 6 already? We will have plenty of time to watch other teams on Sunday with the Titans playing on Monday night. It is really cool that we get to see the Titans on Monday Night Football, but it makes Sunday less fun. The games that we are going to get here in Middle Tennessee on Sunday aren’t great. We get CLE-HOU and GB-MINN early and PIT-KC late. Meh. This week I am picking games against the spread. There are 2 games that don’t have a line listed right now- Chargers-Raiders and Colts-Titans. That is obviously because the status of David Carr and Marcus Mariota is still...
