Bollig: 'Weird' returning to Chicago with Flames

CHICAGO -- Brandon Bollig had made the walk through the hallway and toward the United Center’s locker rooms prior to a game many times before. The difference Wednesday was he never got to the Chicago Blackhawks' locker room. He stopped at the visiting locker room. Bollig returned to the United Center for the first time Wednesday since being traded by the Blackhawks to the Calgary Flames in June. “It’s pretty weird,” Bollig said prior to the game.

Quenneville searching for Bollig replacement

CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville feels strongly about having at least one player on his roster who has enough strength and aggressiveness to be a physical presence and enough skill to be a reliable forward on the fourth line. Quenneville’s guy for that role last season was Brandon Bollig. Bollig played in all 82 regular-season games before his ice time was cut in the playoffs. With Bollig traded to the Calgary Flames in the offseason to free cap space, Quenneville is now searching for a replacement.

Despite the fact that the Blackhawks are "down" an enforcer after the trade of Brandon Bollig, it doesn't look like they'll roll without a facepuncher in the lineup. When the Chicago Blackhawks jettisoned enforcer-but-not-really Brandon Bollig to the Calgary Flames earlier this summer, there was much rejoicing.
