RECAP: Boston ends homestand with a 4-1 win over the Golden Knights

RECAP: Boston ends homestand with a 4-1 win over the Golden Knights

So many positives to draw from this game. Lower forward lines clicking. Rookie defenseman getting more and more comfortable. Goalie brought in as backup stabilizing on a nightly basis. With a midday injury announcement for Brandon Carlo, Jeremy Lauzon got the call once again. Lauzon has filled in well for the heavily-depleted Bruins defensive corps, and it would prove to be a lucky night for the kid. First Period A bit disheveled at the drop of the puck, but Boston got a handle on their offensive flow quickly, generating several chances on odd-man rushes by making smart chips and passes. On...

The Bruins rallied from behind TWICE to beat the Hurricanes 3-2 Plenty of interesting bits emerged in the Bruins’ 3-2, come-from-behind win over the Hurricanes in Raleigh last night. Brad Marchand simply pinned back his eras and refused to lose as Jaroslav Halak determinedly turned back every Carolina effort to extend a lead. Boston Globe Takeaways include Zdeno Chara and Brandon Carlo logging heavy ice time. HockeyBuzz Krug’s hallmark, those controlled exits from the defensive zone while carrying the puck, had been sorely missed. Bonus- update on the Bruins walking wounded. Boston...

Brandon Carlo’s game takes shape

Brandon Carlo’s game takes shape

Subtitle: Young defenseman bounces back from hiccupBrandon Carlo mightone day be a force in all three zones. Then again, those offensive gifts might continue to elude him.But as a defenseman, the 21-year-old’s job, first and foremost, is to defend. And on the Bruins’ just-completed road trip, the Colorado native’s emerging skills as a shutdown blueliner became more evident.A rough shift in overtime in Vancouver last Saturday spoiled what had been one of his finest performances in a long time, and he was even better in the B’s 4-1 victory against the Senators. He prevented two sure...

WATCH: Brandon Carlo Makes Timely Goal-line Saves

With the game on the line, Carlo saves the day. In Tuesday night’s victory over the Ottawa Senators, Brandon Carlo really shined. Carlo bailed out Tuukka Rask like what, two times? He stepped up big last night and that’s what we like to see from a young defender. Here’s the first goal line save, Carlo swats the puck away after it slips through the arm of Rask. SAVE BY CARLO #NHLBruins pic.twitter.com/NIMb0QHAdw— Marina Molnar (@mkmolnar) October 23, 2018 Impressive awareness there from Carlo, showing off his strength too by out-mustling Colin White. We then see Rask come way...

Highlights: Bruins rout Senators

A 4-1 final in Ottawa The game didn’t start out well for the Bruins. Yes, they did outplay the Ottawa Senators, but Urho Vaakanainen went down with a concussion. He is added to the list of Kevan Miller, Charlie McAvoy, and Torey Krug who were already out with injuries. Seeing that all of these defensemen were going down, Brandon Carlo decided he wanted to tryout as goalie. David Pastrnak got the Bruins on the scoreboard first. There were more than a few questionable calls in this one, including a Zdeno Chara cross-check. That would come back to bite the Bruins as Thomas Chabot tied...
