Bellemore recalled from Checkers

Canes Now | News & Observer — The Canes on Friday recalled defenseman Brett Bellemore from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL.) Bellemore was reassigned to Charlotte on Wednesday. He was recalled after having not played an AHL game during his reassignment. Bellemore, 24, has played in six games with Carolina this season, and earned his first NHL point with an assist in the Hurricanes’ game on Monday at Montreal.

Bellemore recalled; LaRose to IR

Canes Now | News & Observer — The Hurricanes on Wednesday recalled defenseman Brett Bellemore from the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. Bellemore, who has good size at 6-4 and 210 pounds, is in his fourth professional season and will be making his NHL debut. He was a sixth-round pick by the Canes in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Bellemore leads the Checkers in plus-minus (plus-12) and penalty minutes (85) in 62 games this season. In one other personnel move Wednesday, the Canes placed forward Chad LaRose on injured reserve. LaRose has missed the past nine games with a concussion.

Anaheim Calling — Final Score: Admirals 2, Checkers 3 OT First Period Recap: Devante Smith-Pelly opened up the scoring 6:58 into the period with Nate Guenin and Dan Sexton getting the assists. Earlier in the period Patrick Maroon fought Brett Bellemore after trying to get Bobby Raymond to drop the gloves. The fight was pretty even and also pretty dumb by Maroon. Chris Terry scored his 22nd goal of the season to tie the game up, not quite half way through the period. The goal was reviewed and quickly upheld by the referee.
