Bruins Notebook: Brett Connolly right on track

Brett Connolly skated yesterday morning with his new Bruins teammates for the first time since he suffered a broken right index finger two days after being acquired at the March 2 trade deadline. But whether he’s able to get into a regular-season game to help the struggling B’s in their chase for a playoff is still a question yet to be answered. He’s been shooting and stickhandling for several days, but he’s still got a ways to go before he’s ready to play.

Connolly at morning skate, but no timetable

BOSTON -- It’s been nearly a month since Brett Connolly arrived in Boston, and he’s inching closer to finally playing in a game for the Bruins. The team acquired the 22-year-old forward from the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 2 in exchange for a pair of second-round draft picks in 2015 and 2016, but Connolly suffered a fractured right index finger during his second practice with Boston. He required surgery, and with only nine games remaining in the regular season for the Bruins, Connolly hopes to return soon.

Bruins Notebook: Connolly stays positive

In meeting with reporters for the first time since suffering a broken right index finger in his second practice as a Bruin, Brett Connolly tried his best to exude a positive attitude. But you have to be the world’s biggest optimist to find a silver lining to the incredibly freaky injury that is expected to cost him the first six weeks of his Bruins career.

Connolly still hopes to make impact

BOSTON -- Speaking for the first time since he broke his right index finger, newly acquired Bruins forward Brett Connolly said Sunday he is hoping he can return before the end of the regular season and make an impact in the playoffs. Connolly suffered the injury during his second practice with the team after being acquired at the trade deadline from the Tampa Bay Lightning. He had surgery Thursday to have a plate inserted in the finger. “Obviously, it’s disappointing,” he said of the injury.

Blues At Flyers Morning Open Thread: Welcome To The Press Box, New Guys

Some of the newest acquisitions from the trade deadline will more than likely be parked by the pretzels and popcorn tonight. Both the Blues and Flyers both made a few tweaks at the trade deadline. The Blues added Zybnek Michalek, Robert Bortuzzo, and Olli Jokinen. The Flyers shipped out defenseman Braydon Coburn to the Lightning for Brett Connolly. The difference here is that the Flyers will probably not make the playoffs, so their tweaks were for the future. The Blues will be in the playoffs, and their tweaks was to fill in a few gaps and to polish the lineup. The polish will be in the...

What's a "gameday"?

After what feels like years of waiting, the MLS has signed a new CBA with the player's union, so the games may resume. MLS players got a bump up to 60k minimum salary and some very limited free agency in the 5-year deal. Oh right, this isn't the Bent Musket. Anyways, the Bruins have a game tonight, a chance to get some points and hopefully tighten their grip on a playoff spot. If they do, we might get to see Brett Connolly in black and gold this season. I'd be alright with that. What's on tap?

WILMINGTON — First impressions of new Bruins forward Brett Connolly, on and off the ice:He is a lanky, lean, solid player with very good quickness and mobility, and he shoots the puck well, with a fast release and good accuracy.Speak with him in the locker room and you’d never imagine you were talking to a 22-year-old: Connolly looks more like he’s 32 and seems to have the maturity and bearing of a seasoned veteran.
