Matchsticks and Gasoline 20 hours ago

The statistics of Brian Elliott and the ramifications for Joni Ortio

12 goalies were analyzed yesterday. The Flames acquired one that wasn't on the list. Here's what it means going forward. Yesterday Matchsticks and Gasoline went and evaluated 12 different goalies that the Flames might target during free agency or as a trade target.  In typical Brad Treliving fashion, he went and acquired one that wasn't necessarily on anybody's board.  Shortly after the Flames had one of the three targets they were after fall into their lap in Matthew Tkachuk they announced that they had swapped their second round pick (pick number 35) in the 2017 entry draft for Brian...

Brian Elliott or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love the Draft

Brad Treliving pulled off another stunner at the draft this year and acquired G Brian Elliott for a pair of picks. What are the Flames getting? After the joy of having Tkachuk fall into our laps after the somewhat confusing picks made by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Vancouver Canucks the day just got even better as the Flames trade their own second round pick (35th overall) and a conditional 2018 3rd round pick (condition is the pick goes to St Louis if he re-signs with the Flames) for a goaltender that no one really thought was available: Brian Elliott. Heck even our own HockeyGoalieEH...

Thank you Brian Elliott for a helluva run

Brian Elliott is gone, folks. The St. Louis Blues traded him to Calgary for the 35th pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. There may be more to it but that’s the first cut of the steak as I type. Before we blow shit up and whine to the moon and back before drowning in our PBR can pile, let’s a great fucking run in the net for Kid Ells. He was quietly a maverick for four seasons before he took over the NHL in January this year. Elliott helped preserve Ken Hitchcock’s job and carried the Blues deep into the playoffs like Liam Neeson wearing a cool goalie mask in The Grey. He came to the Blues...

Blues Trade Brian Elliott To Calgary Flames

The Moose Era in St. Louis is over. Well, this is certainly a fine thank you for leading the Blues to their first Western Conference Finals in forever. Brian Elliott's been traded to the Calgary Flames for the 35th overall pick in this year's draf and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2018. Brian Elliott's put up stellar numbers during his tenure with St. Louis and was one of the largest reasons that the Blues had as much playoff success as they had this season. Elliott had, during his time here, had to compete with Jake Allen for starting time, as well as some of Armstrong's trades for a...

St. Louis Blues trade Brian Elliott to Calgary Flames

Another big trade on Friday evening. It sounds like the Calgary Flames have their goaltender. St. Louis sent Brian Elliott to the Flames for Calgary’s 2016 second round pick and a 2018 conditional pick, effectively ending Calgary’s hunt for a starting netminder. Looks like Elliott to Flames.
