2015 NHL Awards recap: The Calgary Flames received a lot of love

Awards shows are always subjective, and usually disastrous as a result. That said, a lot of voters showed the Flames a lot of love, so they couldn't have been all bad. Another season is officially in the books. Before all eyes turn to the future, set to take centre stage in the upcoming NHL entry draft, first, we looked to the past year, and honoured it one last time. The votes came in, and the biggest winner by far - Jiri Hudler's shoes aside - was Carey Price, with a clean sweep of the Vezina, William Jennings, and Hart Trophies, not to mention the Ted Lindsay Award. The second biggest...

Carey Price wins the Hart Memorial Trophy

The biggest individual award for the NHL's regular season will be sitting in Carey Price's ever-expanding trophy room. It's been a long time coming, and we all knew he was going to win it, but Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player. Price is the first Canadiens player to win the Hart Trophy since Jose Theodore in 2002. When Price was chosen fifth overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, this was the kind of moment Bob Gainey and Trevor Timmins were likely dreaming about. The Stanley Cup is still to come, but in just...

This is my 2015 NHL Awards ballot

They gave me a vote and here's how I used it. I was honored to be selected to vote on the various NHL Awards this year as a first-year member of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association. Below is my full ballot. Votes were cast at the end of the 2014-15 regular season and I turned my ballot in on April 14. Awards not listed below are not voted on by the PHWA -- for example, the Vezina Trophy, which is voted on by the league's general managers. Feel free to ask me questions about my choices in the comments below. HART TROPHY Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens Alex Ovechkin, Washington...

Pekka Rinne loses Vezina Trophy bid to Carey Price

The NHL general managers picked Carey Price as the best goaltender in the league this year. It really wasn't going to go any other way. For the third time, Pekka Rinne misses out on the Vezina Trophy after being named a finalist. Rinne racked up a .923 Sv% and a 2.18 GA in 64 appearances this year, and was arguably the Predators MVP throughout the season. However, his Montreal Canadiens counterpart registered a sterling .933 Sv% and a miniscule 1.96 GAA in 66 appearances. At times, Price was one of the only reasons the Habs were anything more than a bubble team. Rinne certainly had a...

Vezina Trophy 2015: Carey Price easily wins the award for NHL's best goalie

I mean, obviously. Carey Price won the Ted Lindsay Award earlier. He'll win the Hart Trophy later. So I guess the Vezina Trophy is the main course? Price is the winner of the award for 2015, handed out annually to the NHL's best goalie. The NHL's 30 general manager vote on the trophy. Price, Devan Dubnyk of the Minnesota Wild, and Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators were the three finalists. Carey Price wins Vezina Trophy

A record-shattering season has earned Carey Price his first Vezina Trophy. While it probably isn't surprising to anyone who has paid even mild attention to the 2014-15 NHL season, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has won the Vezina Trophy as the best at his position in the league. Price led the league in save percentage, goals against average, and wins, and broke the Montreal Canadiens' record for wins in a single season, previously held by Ken Dryden and Jacques Plante. While Canadiens goaltender have won the Vezina Trophy a staggering 29 times since the award was created in...

Ted Lindsay Award 2015: NHL players vote Carey Price the league's most outstanding player

The 2015 Ted Lindsay Award winner is Carey Price. The 2015 Ted Lindsay Award, given to the player voted the most valuable to his team according to the members of the NHL Players' Association, belongs to Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price. The finalists for the award were Price, Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn, and Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin. This is probably an omen for the last award of the evening, the Hart Memorial Trophy.

Carey Price wins Ted Lindsay Award

Formerly called the Lester B. Pearson Award, Carey Price's peers have voted him as the league's most outstanding player. Of all the awards and trophies that the NHL gives out, the one that deserves to be talked about so much more is the Ted Lindsay. It's one thing for journalists to name a player most valuable, but to have your peers vote for you as the best player in the league has to mean even more. Based on the votes of players around the league, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price was the most outstanding player in the NHL during the 2014-15 season. Price is just the second Habs...
