Bruins tweak lineup for game vs. Oilers

EDMONTON — After the Bruins 5-2 loss in Calgary on Wednesday, coach Bruce Cassidy surprised absolutely no one by saying that there will be some lineup tweaks for Thursday nights matchup against the Oilers at Rogers Place.Danton Heinen will go in and Anders Bjork (four giveaways on Wednesday) will come out, and every line but the top one will be changed. Heinen will take Joakim Nordstroms spot on the David Krejci-Jake DeBrusk line, Chris Wagner will be moved to the right wing with David Backes and Ryan Donato will shift to his natural left side while Nordstrom will play with center Sean...

Conroy: Gritty fourth line delivers in Bruins home opener

Subtitle: Patchwork unit solid in victory against SensThe Bruins possess a tremendous first line. The trio of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, which produced five of the Bruins’ goals in yesterday’s 6-3 win over the Ottawa Senators, is arguably the best line in hockey. But this much we knew already. What we don’t know about the Bruins is how many other lines they truly have. If yesterday’s game is any indication, they at least have one more. The fourth line of center Sean Kuraly, left winger Noel Acciari and right winger Chris Wagner was really the only other unit...
Bruins Blow by the Senators in Exciting Affair

Bruins Blow by the Senators in Exciting Affair

A commanding 6-3 victory over a division rival It was an exciting afternoon in Boston. Between the player introductions, to the ceremonial puck drop, and all of the way to the last whistle, the Garden was buzzing. Capped off by Dirty Water, a song by The Standells that plays after every home win at Fenway Park, it was a perfect afternoon for Boston sports fans. Chris Wagner, who signed as a free agent with the Bruins this summer, scored his first goal as a Bruin midway through the second. The Walpole, MA native should have been the story of the afternoon, but Patrice Bergeron stole it away...

More adjustments for the Bruins Number the Senators lines as you will. The Duchene in is probably the first line, but all of their lines have an anchor or two. Cody Ceci also seems to find a way to play a lot of minutes although he is listed on the third pair. Bruins notebook: New trio on fourth line shows good chemistry

Bruins notebook: New trio on fourth line shows good chemistry

There weren’t many positives to take out of the Bruins final preseason game on Saturday night, but the biggest came from a surprising place. The fourth-line trio of Noel Acciari, Chris Wagner and Joakim Nordstrom was the most energized of the game and had some of the best offensive chances for the Bruins in a 4-1 loss to the Flyers at the Garden. That chemistry continued to build ahead of Wednesday’s season opener in Washington, specifically with Nordstrom.“(Nordstrom) kind of got banged up in China, so I think we had like one practice together, but he’s an easy guy to play with,”...

Walpole native Chris Wagner happy to be home with Bruins

Chris Wagner has plenty of familiarity with his new team, but that shouldn’t be mistaken with complacency. The Walpole native in many ways is still wrapping his head around playing for his hometown team, but his focus remains on finding a role with the Bruins and making an impact in his first season.“At first it kind of feels weird because I’m not leaving to go somewhere,” he said. “At the end of the day, it’s still work and you get to go to the rink and it’s fun. I’m excited to see my family and friends, it’s a great feeling.”The 27-year-old has previously laced up with...

Who’s playing for the Bruins tonight against the Flyers?

A lineup that’s looking pretty close to the regular NHL group. One preseason game left! This is a game that goes either way: either a coach rests most of his main guys to save them for the opener, or he plays an NHL-level lineup for one last tuneup. Bruce Cassidy is going with the latter. Per the team, here’s who you’ll see tonight: Forwards: Noel Acciari, Anders Bjork, Jake DeBrusk, Ryan Donato, Trent Frederic, Danton Heinen, David Krejci, Sean Kuraly, Brad Marchand, Joakim Nordstrom, David Pastrnak, Chris Wagner Defensemen: Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug, Charlie McAvoy, Kevan Miller, John...
