They’re finally showing some Hart

They’re finally showing some Hart

Postgame reaction following 4-3 win over Boston Thirty blocked shots. Thirty-nine saves for Carter Hart. Three straight penalties killed in the third period, including a major that bled over from the previous stanza. A hat trick for Sean Couturier. Five hundred (and one) assists for Claude Giroux. Who the hell is this team? Despite being out-shot 42-19 and losing the shot attempts battle 84-34, the dead-and-buried Philadelphia Flyers earned a hard-fought victory over a much better Boston Bruins squad. Is it frustrating that the team is showing signs of life now that they’ve dug...

What we learned from the Flyers’ eighth-straight loss and where they go from here

What we learned from the Flyers’ eighth-straight loss and where they go from here

We don’t even have a strong Carter Hart performance to lean on, and that’s a shame. Three second period goals helped propel the Capitals to a 5-3 win on Tuesday night, sending the Flyers to an eight-straight loss. Mike McKenna made his Flyers debut, making 21 saves on 25 shots in the losing effort. Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, and Claude Giroux scored for the Flyers while Jakub Vrana and T.J. Oshie both scored twice to pace the Capitals. Here are five things we learned from the Flyers’ latest defeat as they have their sights set on the 10-game losing streak they piled up a year...

New coach, new general manager, same results. Steve and Craig return to talk about how the Flyers keep losing games the same exact way. Sure, some things have changed, but it’s still the same damn team. The guys also talk about how underrated Claude Giroux is in the history of Philly sports, Freddie Mitchell, and Al Pacino. Flyers lose fifth straight game in an almost comeback vs. Carolina

Flyers lose fifth straight game in an almost comeback vs. Carolina

This team is maddening. First Period The second meeting in three games between the Flyers and Hurricanes got off to another slow start. Both teams displayed a lot of tight checking and overall not a lot of dangerous offense. Carolina almost got the first of the game on a big rebound given up by Neuvirth, but the Flyers were able to recover and clear the puck. The new top line of Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, and Oskar Lindblom generated a good chance around the five minute mark, but former Flyer Petr Mrazek was up to the task. Another new look line would generate some solid chances later...

Claude Giroux will represent the Flyers at the 2019 NHL All-Star Game

Claude Giroux will represent the Flyers at the 2019 NHL All-Star Game

Captain Claude! In a season full of disappointment and frustration, captain Claude Giroux has been one of the few bright spots, and today the Flyers’ leading scorer was named to the 2019 All-Star Game. This will be Giroux’s second straight season as an all-star and it will be his sixth all-star game of his brilliant career. His first coming in the 2010-11 season, a then breakout season for the Flyers center, with appearances also coming in 2012, 2015, and 2016. Giroux will most likely be the lone Flyers all-star game representative, unless a Flyer takes the spot of Alex Ovechkin from...

Flyers 3, Rangers 2: Santa came early and left us a shootout victory

Flyers 3, Rangers 2: Santa came early and left us a shootout victory

Some observations for your morning… The Flyers went to New York and left with two points, and instead of the usual ten observations, let’s get a little festive around here and go with twelve number-specific ones. Michal Neuvirth got the start in net, marking the first game of the Scott Gordon era to not include Carter Hart, and he proved Gordon right for making that call. 12 faceoffs won The captain played 23:45, the second-most of any player in the game, and, despite going pointless, was once again great for the Flyers. Claude Giroux fired six shots towards the net, hitting it four...
