Rangers at Flyers … It’s Go Time!

Preseason Game 4. Rangers at Flyers.   Ya boys play Mr. Snider’s real Flyers tonight at the Arena That Changes Names Every Five Minutes, not the Adirondack Phantoms team they pummeled last night. Included in the lineup are Claude Giroux, returning from injury, Wayne (“We’re out for blood!”) Simmonds and... Claude Giroux injury will keep him out for entire preseason

Claude Giroux injury will keep him out for entire preseason

We suspect it's a groin injury, but cannot totally confirm. Training camp off to a rousing start! 15 minutes on, two weeks off. That's how Claude Giroux will spend most of Flyers training camp. Ron Hextall and the Flyers announced that Giroux will miss two weeks with a lower-body injury suffered early on the first day of camp Friday morning. It appeared as though he tweaked his groin, but of course the Flyers will not confirm specifics. Two weeks would put him back on the ice on October 3, just five days before the 2014 season opener in Boston against the Bruins. It will also put him out...

It took 15 minutes for Claude Giroux to get injured at training camp

Claude Giroux is hurt and he left the ice shortly after the first day of training camp began. Claude Giroux has a lower-body injury, perhaps something wrong with his groin or leg, and he left practice just a few minutes into the first day of Flyers training camp Friday. Ron Hextall announced that the team is evaluating Giroux's condition and will only say that it's a lower-body ailment. Initial reports from Voorhees made it seem like this was nothing serious, but then time passed and Giroux didn't return. Darroll Powe, in Flyers camp on an AHL contract, replace Giroux in line rushes, and...

Claude Giroux picks himself as the NHL's best franchise player, is awesome

Nobody else picked themselves. Earlier this week, ESPN's Craig Custance asked a bunch of NHL players a simple question: if you were building an NHL team, which player would you pick to build that team around? Hockey players are generally pretty humble people. They're not going to call themselves great. Wayne Gretzky wouldn't even do that. But there's a certain confidence that goes with being the only NHL player polled to say he'd build a team around himself. I kind of love that the only player to do so in ESPN's poll was Claude Giroux. Via ESPN Insider ($$): Giroux received one...
