Shayne Gostisbehere had surgery and now he gets to cuddle with dogs

That is a very fair tradeoff. Claude Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere have so much in common. For example, they're both really great players on the Philadelphia Flyers. To celebrate that, they decided to get matching surgeries, or something. Those surgeries were scheduled to take place a couple of days ago, and indeed, we've already received an update on Giroux and his beautiful skinny legs. At that time, we'd yet to have any visuals on Gostisbehere, though. Well, rest easy, because now we do. And it's the best. keeping dad company during his recovery #frenchie #frenchbulldog...

Looks like Claude Giroux had his surgery

His crutches are almost as thick as his legs! Claude Giroux had a pretty strong season overall, but it faltered towards the end - and especially in the playoffs, when he only posted one assist through six games. For a guy who's been over a point per game in the playoffs prior to this year's first round series, it was definitely abnormal, and we eventually learned why: he required surgery for hip and abdominal injuries. That surgery was scheduled to take place today, and sure enough, it looks like it's over and done with, via an Instagram post from his girlfriend: Bustin out A photo...

Monday Morning Fly By: At least you have the Phillies.

Today's open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes... *So it turns out that both Claude Giroux AND Shayne Gostisbehere are hurt enough to require surgery. The same exact hurt. The same exact surgery. So weird. [BSH] *Our kids down in the ECHL gave it a hell of an effort but ended their season in a game seven overtime loss. Which is rough. [Sons of Penn] *Speaking of the kids, both Ivan Provorov and Phillippe Myers are headed to the Memorial Cup. [BSH] *The Flyers have two good goaltenders, which seems to make people very uncomfortable. Maybe...

Claude Giroux, Shayne Gostisbehere to have surgery on their hips, abdominals next week

The Giroux news confirms what was reported late last week, while the Gostisbehere revelation is new but not terribly surprising. On Saturday afternoon the Flyers confirmed reports from earlier this week that Claude Giroux will have surgery this upcoming week on his injured right hip, but the team -- which has not fully revealed its post-season surgery list yet -- had some other news on Giroux as well as rookie defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. Per #Flyers GM Ron Hextall, both Claude Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere will have surgery. Read more → https://t.co/jHpI6bhX1Y — Philadelphia...

Claude Giroux to have hip surgery next week per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman

Claude Giroux wasn't at his best in the playoffs. Two weeks later, we now have a better idea of why. The Philadelphia Flyers fell in their first round playoff battle with the Washington Capitals two weeks ago, and one of the biggest reasons for their loss was the underwhelming play of captain Claude Giroux, who scored just one point in the series. During the team's exit interviews, Giroux refused to attribute his poor play to any injury, only willing to admit that he was as banged up as the rest of the his teammates. Tonight, reports emerged that Giroux may truly have been a bit more...

WATCH: Jakub Voracek plays ping pong with Claude Giroux, loses arm wrestling contest with Radko Gudas

One is a battle. One... is not. Towards the end of this past regular season, Jakub Voracek was joined by iDNES.cz, a Czech publication. They followed Voracek in a "day in the life of an NHLer" style piece, giving us a glimpse of his day-to-day routine - game day and off-day alike. The most important part of all this? The above video, in which we get to actually see some of what he does. The first few minutes, in particular, are the most important part. First, because it features a ping pong match with Claude Giroux, in which we are treated to a very spirited contest with equal parts...
