Combating Collapsing Coaches - Leafs: 4, Rangers: 3

Pension Plan Puppets — The Story JVR opened the scoring on a beautiful job of crashing the net and a great centering pass by Liles. Kadri fed a great cross-rink pass to Ryan O'Byrne, who scored the 5th goal of his career to put the Leafs up 2-0. Rick Nash stopped the Leafs' run, beating Cody Franson with the prototypical power forward move and making Reimer's save selection look awful. Kessel lays a sick wrister through a great screen by JVR to make it 3-1, but rick Nash answered with his second of the night. Stepan tied the game 3-all on a 2-on-1 that's basically a 1-on-0. Who would score the game winner? N...

Franson Notches Power-Play Goal For Toronto

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Cody Franson notched a power-play goal in Thursday's victory over Carolina. It's his fourth point in his last 11 games.

DID YOU SEE THAT GOAL? Leafs: 6, Canes: 3

Pension Plan Puppets — The scoring opened with Bozak tapping home a slick Kessel pass through the paint, followed by Cody Franson getting a PPG in the second to give the Leafs the lead at 2-0. Carolina roared back, scoring a shorthanded breakaway goal, a power play goal, and an even strength goal to set the Leafs back 3-2. Not content with blowing a two goal lead, the Great Leader Dion Phaneuf inspired the team with a sick game-tying slapper from the top of the circles. Then Joffrey Lupul put the game on his formerly fragile back, and went the full 180 to tuck the puck behind Carolina's netminder for the win...

How To Improve The Maple Leafs' Defence: Learn To Love Cody Franson

Pension Plan PuppetsCody Franson's time with the Toronto Maple Leafs has not been easy. Initially acquired by Brian Burke before the 2011-12 season as the cost of taking Matthew Lombardi's uninsured contract off the hands of the Nashville Predators, Franson seemed to spend much of the year in Ron Wilson's doghouse; he was dressed for only 57 games and saw just 16:11 of ice time, second lowest on the defence ahead of only the struggling Luke Schenn. During the portion of that season for which Wilson was the coach, Franson surpassed 20 minutes of time on ice in just two games. Randy Carlyle took over the ...

Leafs Look Good in 3-1 Loss to Penguins

Pension Plan Puppets — Scrivens and Fleury held the game scoreless through 30 minutes of play, but Tyler Bozak opened the scoring off a beautiful feed from Cody Franson. With under ten minutes to go in the third, a slick Sidney Crosby pass to Pascal Dupuis tied the game, and five minutes later, another Dupuis shot found the net on another pretty Crosby play. Here's your game in six: The first goal was a bit of a defensive breakdown - Dion drops in to the corner (exactly as last recap's Phaneuf troll wanted), JVR doesn't pick up the man in the slot, and the best player in the world can get the puck wh...
