Chicago Blackhawks Blog | ESPN Chicago — DETROIT -- Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews was named a finalist for the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award on Monday. Toews joined Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown and the Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson as finalists. The award is given to the "the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice during the regular season." Messier is responsible for selecting the award finalists and winner.

Between the Circles | Daily Herald — DETROIT - Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson and Kings captain Dustin Brown are the three finalists for the 2012-13 Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award presented by Bridgestone. The Messier award goes to "the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice during the regular season." Mark Messier solicits suggestions from club and league personnel and NHL fans to compile a list of potential candidates. However, the selection of the three finalists and ultimate winner is Messier's alone.
