2015 NHL Draft 1st Round: Trades, TRADES (and picks)

Hot prospects are on the board, but the big story is Boston imploding. The NHL Entry Draft is here! And the New York Islanders aren't invited. For the first time since 2007, they won't be picking in the first round. But there still is plenty of fun to expect tonight, where the draft formally begins at 7 p.m. EDT. Television: Sportsnet (Canada)and NBCSN (USA) Live stream in the USA on NBC Live Extra Many trades are expected, and many trades already went down before the festivities officially opened in Florida. Among them: Robin Lehner and David Legwand to the Sabres for a 1st-round pick...

Rising Price of Goalies a Good Thing for the Canucks

The first bombshell of 2015 Draft Day was dropped when the Ottawa Senators sent Robin Lehner and David Legwand to Buffalo in exchange for the 21st overall pick, and its significance is of importance, not just to the Sens and Sabres, but to the rest of the league too. Many will feel Buffalo overpaid for the 23-year-old goalie, and perhaps they are right. Draft Day 2015 Open Thread

Signings and trades for picks and players, oh my! Rumor it up here! There are a lot of moving parts out there in NHL land today, so I thought I'd give you all a Friday party room place to go ham. Share rumors, dissect moves, and yes, this is the Ryan O'Reilly thread. So far today we have the Avs signing Soderberg, a bridge deal in LA for Toffolli, who I'm still not convinced isn't sentient pasta, and Ottawa sending Robin Lehner to Buffalo for David Legwand and pick 21. Arizona's 3rd overall is in play, with Columbus being the most public suitor. Fisher got re-signed in Nashville too....

Sabres trade pick #21 to Ottawa for Robin Lehner and David Legwand

The Sabres have found their goalie of the future, and have added some veteran forward depth in exchange for pick #21. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reported earlier this morning that the Sabres were closing in on Robin Lehner. Now, Bob McKenzie reports that it's official. The Sabres will get Lehner and forward David Legwand for the 21st pick in the draft. The Sabres have their goalie. BUF-OTT trade call done. Official: Lehner and Legwand for 21st overall pick. BUF takes all of Legwand's contract. #TSN — Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) June 26, 2015 Lehner, 23, played 26 games with...

Your Say: David Legwand

We've given out our grades. Now it's your turn! We've finished our player grades for the 2014-15 season, but that was just 9 people talking about what they think--and it was a lot of information to talk about. Now it's time for our readers to cast their votes. And with that in mind, we present our Your Say series! David Legwand recap: Legwand was signed as an insurance second-line centre in case Zibanejad couldn't live up to the role. He finished the season being a healthy scratch for Zack Smith in the playoffs. At the start of the season, he played with...
