Wilderness Walk: Over Edition

fin. My girlfriend said I couldn't just post a quote from the book I'm reading, and I can't make myself put together words about the Wild without adding in aliens or unicorns or other trappings to make it all even more unreal. So just, so long and thanks for all the fish. Stay beautiful. It's nice to be alive. Etc, etc. Wild News Wild's Devan Dubnyk undone by unlucky bounces in series Also his hand was broken or something. Whatever, it's cool. Torchetti hoping for chance to continue what he started - StarTribune.com No. Wild hold moment of silence for Prince | theScore.com This was cool....

The Resurrection of Ales Hemsky

(Who might never have been dead at all.) When Ales Hemsky stepped up and blasted a slapshot past Devan Dubnyk to tie the game Wednesday night, a sigh of relief came from the Dallas camp.  After a power play that had come into the series with a lethal past and high expectations, the Stars had managed only a single such goal through throughout the series.  Minnesota's penalty kill had done their research, and with only seconds remaining on Dallas's first power play of the game, the Stars were in danger of letting yet another opportunity to capitalize on the Wild's mistakes fall by the...

Mikko Koivu's leadership exemplified in Game 3

The Minnesota Wild did something in Game 3 they hadn't done but twice this whole season - come from behind and win. Even more important was the way the game had started. Just 26 seconds in, Patrick Sharp deflected a shot past Devan Dubnyk. Some how, some way, the Wild defense had left Sharp, a player with 511 career points, alone in front of the net. After the Wild gave up a second goal to Sharp, something changed with the team. The Chris Porter goal with under a minute left in the first period was huge. It was scored in time that can be used to swing the momentum of games. The...

Wild storms back in Game 3 to beat Stars 5-3

It wasn't a great start. In fact, you could hear a pin drop just 26 seconds into the game because Patrick Sharp deflected a shot past Devan Dubnyk. All the energy that you'd expect in a playoff game with 19,038 screaming Wild fans packed into Xcel Energy Center, was immediately sucked out of the building. Though Minnesota would use the Nino Niederreiter - Erik Haula - Jason Pominville line to get back into the game and ultimately win 5-3 to gain their first win of the First Round series. Patrick Sharp netted a second goal at 4:10 of the first period when everyone on the Wild was caught...

HW Podcast 062: Game 2 Recap, or, The Dub Stands Alone

Being all alone is the theme of today's show. Sometimes, you have no choice but to be all by yourself. This last week, Devan Dubnyk has been all alone in net. And today, Tony reacts to Game 2, with no support. He manages, though reacting to Game 2, college signings, and reader questions. Topics include: Minnesota playing a closer game Saturday than in Game 1 Why Antoine Roussel’s goal shouldn’t have counted- but why the Wild can’t blame the referees for the loss Mikael Granlund’s great and terrible game How to avoid alcohol poisoning throughout this series How the Wild can...

Video: Watch the odd goal that angered Dubnyk and the Wild

Here's a look at the Dallas goal, which was originally waved off, that gave Dallas a 1-0 lead Saturday night in its 2-1 victory over the Wild.

Stanley Cup Playoffs 1st Round: Minnesota Wild at Dallas Stars Game 2

Help us Thomas Vanek and Zach Parise you're our only hope! Too bad they're still hurt... The Minnesota Wild showed why they are the underdogs in Game 1 of the first round series against the Dallas Stars Thursday night. They were held to just a pitiful two shots in the first period, weren't able to generate many opportunities and were shutout 4-0. Devan Dubnyk tried his best to be our hero but with no help from the offense, particularly on the PP, they were bound to lose. Duub can steal games, sure, but it's impossible to win 0-0. Last Game: On Thursday night the...

Torchetti to shake things up as Wild prepares for Game 2

In addition to repairing the Wild’s psyche, Devan Dubnyk also is nursing a wound from Game 1.

Haula expected to return Saturday for the Wild; Dubnyk misses Friday's practice

Trying to brush off its Game 1 loss to the Dallas Stars, the Wild regrouped for a practice Friday. Erik Haula, who missed Game 1, appears ready to go but goaltender Devan Dubnyk was not on the ice.

Star struck: Dallas blanks depleted Wild 4-0 in playoff series opener

Other than Devan Dubnyk’s saves early, the Wild didn’t put up much of a fight

Should Henrik Lundqvist Be Considered for the Vezina? (Yes, yes he should).

Another regular season in the books, another year of hockey data finalized. I thought I’d take this time to use some key statistics and evaluate the top goaltenders, conducting our own little analytically-examined version of the traditional Vezina vote amongst General Managers. We'll pick the three best goalies from each examination graph, giving five points to the best, three points to the 2nd best & one point to 3rd place. At the end, we’ll see how the scoring turns out. I’ve selected these ten goaltenders to examine: Ben Bishop Corey Crawford Devan Dubnyk Marc-Andre Fleury Brayden...

Minnesota Wild MVP Candidates: Devan Dubnyk

The Wild goaltending position has been mired in inconsistency for a number of seasons. Devan Dubnyk's six-year $26 million dollar deal certainly solves the question on who will be between the pipes for this team. But Dubnyk has provided more than just a league average bit of goaltending. He has again helped this team gain a fourth consecutive playoff berth. Coming off a season in which he was traded for a 3rd round pick to Minnesota from the Arizona Coyotes, the veteran goaltender, found himself wining the Masterton Memorial Award, and getting selected to the 2016 All-Star game. Dubs...

2016 Minnesota Wild team MVP

When most people think of "stars of the Minnesota Wild" the names that come to mind are Zach Parise, Devan Dubnyk, Ryan Suter, or one of a few others. Few think Nino Niederreiter is more than a promising young player who has nice moments. He is so much more. Nino is one of the best defensive forwards on the Wild, and in the league For my money, Nino Niederreiter has been the Wild's MVPs this season. He has driven play, been one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL, and is scoring at a good clip as well. He is, in some ways, the best player on the team, despite lack of recognition...

Minnesota Wild MVP Candidates: Nino Niederreiter
