Bold Prediction: Dubnyk Leads the League in Wins

Devan Dubnyk showed us last year what he was capable of doing with the Wild Defense in front of him. That formula will lead to even greater success over a full season. Devan Dubnyk became the savior of the Wild’s season after landing on the roster while the team was in Buffalo.  He turned a weakness into a strength as he backstopped the team from far out of the playoff picture straight into the postseason. In doing so, he earned himself a Masterton Trophy for perseverance as well as becoming a finalist for the Vezina Trophy (best goaltender) and being part of the conversation for the...

We will be closely following the lineup as we track the...

The Wild's season rests in the hands, gloves, and sticks of some key veterans. 1a) Can the Wild's goalie corps remain healthy? I don't see why not. Last season was the first time Devan Dubnyk started more than 50 NHL games in a season, but he's not someone who has a checkered injury history, by any means. The bigger question to me is how good Dubnyk will be. He's a safe bet to be an above-average goalie, but getting even close to his form last season should put the Wild in the playoffs by a comfortable margin. 1b) Can the Wild unload Niklas Backstrom and free up a roster spot? No....

Wild: No preseason fretting with Devan Dubnyk in goal

Absent much goalie controversy in training camp for the first time in two years, Wild coach Mike Yeo almost didn't know how to respond to a question about the luxury he's had little time to enjoy.
