Dubnyk and Wild to start talking contract this week

According to Elliot Friedman, the Wild and Devan Dubnyk will start talking about re-signing the 29-year old goaltender. "This is where I want to be," Dubnyk said in his season-ending interview. He clearly means a lot to this team after single-handedly back-stopping the Wild to a third straight post-season berth and second consecutive second round appearance. Dubnyk, a Vezina Trophy finalist, had top three numbers this season. His 2.07 Goal Against Average and .929 save percentage was good for second in the entire NHL right behind Vezina favorite Carey Price. The Wild organization wants...

Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk says, 'This is where I want to be'

Devan Dubnyk didn't hide the fact that he wants to remain in Minnesota during his remarkable run with the Wild this season, and even with negotiating leverage entering the fold, the goalie isn't backing off from those words now.

HWP 034: Sweep the Leg, Jonny Toews!

Coping with a playoff exit as best as we can. Sure, sure, the Wild got swept. But that’s not going to get the Hockey Wilderness Podcast down! Or, rather, it’s going to get them down, but they’re going to try and joke about it to make it better. But in the process, Joe, Chris, Alec, Tony, and Ben Remington of Wild Xtra touch on some really important stuff. *How on earth could a team this good get swept? *Do the Wild need to fire Mike Yeo? *How can the Wild take that next step? *Can the Wild find a superstar? *How much money did Devan Dubnyk lose this series? You can find Ben...

Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk's magical season ends, free agency next

The sparkle was gone from Devan Dubnyk's eyes, his normally thoughtful answers reduced to a soft monotone late Thursday night as the Wild goaltender reconciled how his remarkable four-month run swirled down the drain of an awful week.

Hawks vs. Wild playoff thread: Game 3, Period 2

The Blackhawks lead the Wild 1-0 after the first period. Join the discussion! All our attention was on Patrick Kane this period, as he opened the scoring tonight at the Xcel Energy Center, and then took a hard hit from Dumba. Hopefully he gets payback with another puck behind Dubnyk. Let's go Hawks!

PLAYOFF GAME DAY OPEN THREAD May 5/15

Minnesota and Calgary both play at home tonight as they desperately try to avoid going down 3-0 in their respective series. I'd be happy, but it feels even dirtier to cheer for the teams beating them. They're both screwed, basically. It's gonna be Anaheim and Chicago battling it out in the Conference Finals, and we can put all this Cinderella hoohah about the Flames and Wild to bed. Devan Dubnyk's playing more like Devan Dubnyk, and the Calgary Flames aren't so tough when a) some dude you won't even remember a year from now isn't running around taking cheap shots and b) they're playing a...

Is Devan Dubnyk or the Defense to Blame?

Devan Dubnyk's having a rough stretch during these playoffs. Is he slumping, or is his defense hanging him out to dry? To the dismay of the State of Hockey, Devan Dubnyk is looking mortal. For the first time in almost four months, the Wild have lost consecutive regulation games. A streak such as this is absurd, and it's a testament to just how good Devan Dubnyk has been since the Minnesota Wild acquired him. Minnesota's defense isn't hanging Dubnyk out to dry very often at all. Unfortunately for the Wild, we haven't been seeing quite that same Dubnyk in the postseason. In 39...

Minnesota Wild: Devan Dubnyk's blunder not only costly one

CHICAGO -- The what-the-heck shot by Teuvo Teravainen fluttered toward Devan Dubnyk like a harmless Frisbee but crashed the Wild's comeback hopes like a wrecking ball.

WCSF Game 1 Preview: Wild @ Hawks

We meet again old friend... For the third straight year the Wild and Blackhawks are squaring off in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Chicago has gotten the best of Minnesota the last two years and the Wild are hungry for revenge. Its safe to say in the last two meetings Minnesota's goaltending was suspect at best. Now that we're in the Devan Dubnyk era the Wild have that problem solved. Chicago has been through some goalie lapses this playoffs as they have cycled through Corey Crawford and Scott Darling in the round one with Nashville. Crawford will start game one as he does have success against...
