Nashville Predators 2, Minnesota Wild 4: Wild stifle Preds, Dubnyk beats his (barely) former team

It's been the away team's series thus far, and the Wild take down the Preds in their first visit to Music City. The Minnesota Wild trekked to Nashville to close the gap in the Central an eensy bit, while doing what they could to get themselves back into the playoff picture. They were one point behind the Calgary Flames for the last Wild Card spot starting action tonight. Red-hot Devan Dubnyk lined up opposite season-hot Pekka Rinne in a game that looked like minimal goals were going to be scored. That was... not exactly the case. The goalies saw the twine they are sworn to protect pierced...

The Preds are a juggernaut, the Kings are back and Devan Dubnyk deserves Hart votes.

Edmonton Oilers player grades — Ben Scrivens outbattles Devan Dubnyk as Oil slide by Wild 2-1

Oilers 2, Wild 1 Nobody will accuse the Edmonton Oilers of painting a Picasso on Tuesday. This game was about as pretty as painting a barn, but when that barn is the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul, “pretty” is …

Preview: Oilers @ Wild

Edmonton again? Ok. Tonight the wild are looking to add to its impressive stretch when they host the Edmonton Oilers tonight. This is the third meeting this season and second in the last four days. Minnesota has won both meetings this year and have dominated the series against Edmonton. Minnesota's 24 victories at Xcel Energy Center and 45 wins overall against Edmonton are the most against any franchise. Devan Dubnyk gets another crack at his former team and has been damn near perfect against them. Dubnyk has a perfect 5-0-0 record stopping 128-of-132 shots faced for a 0.79 GAA and a .970...

Oilers finally beat former goalie Dubnyk

ST. PAUL, MINN. — Before the game, Devan Dubnyk was shown some grateful artwork from a little Minnesota Wild fan that said “Dubnyk is Heaven,” with some angels flying around the goalie’s head. But on this starry night, Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ben Scrivens answered his club’s prayers.

Wild's road success about more than goalie Devan Dubnyk

At each stop during the Wild's three-game, six-day road trip through three cities and two provinces north of the border, the same question was invariably asked of coach Mike Yeo.

The Wild Beat Lowly Oilers 4-0

Rexall Place may arguably be the worst arena in the NHL. The team that calls it home is equally as bad. The Minnesota Wild were able to defeat the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 by hardly breaking a sweat. Devan Dubnyk backstopped the Wild in his fifth shutout in the 16 games he's started for Minnesota this season. He's also improved to 5-0 against the team that drafted him. But as the final horn sounded, we saw Justin Fontaine score two goals, and Nino Niederreiter and Jordan Schroeder score for the Wild in a game that was controlled in the most part by Minnesota. In the first period, the...

Good Thing Dubnyk isn't a Number One Goalie

Devan Dubnyk and the Minnesota Wild defeat the Oilers 4-0

Player grades – Nail Yakupov the only Oilers forward with any jump in loss to Wild

Wild 4, Oilers 0 It’s tempting to look at the score and say, ‘oh look, Devan Dubnyk once again has the Oilers’ number’ but that wasn’t what happened. That’s nothing against Dubnyk, who was perfect when tested, but this was …

Dubnyk posts another shutout, WIld blank Edmonton 4-0

The Wild is 10-1-1 since the All-Star break, and an NHL-best 12-2-2 since the Devan Dubnyk era began Jan. 15.

The Doob Abides: Putting Dubnyk's Play in Context

We all know Devan Dubnyk is on a great run. The question is: just HOW great a run is it? Through 14 games played for the Wild (this is being written before the Calgary game on Wednesday), Doobie has a GAA of 1.71 and a Sv% of .935. Put in context: his Sv% is tied for 3rd best in the NHL of all goalies who have played 13 games, and his GAA is the best of that same set of goalies. Historically, Doobie is tied for 9th-best Sv% of all goalies who have played more than 13 games in a single season (tied with Craig Anderson of the 2007-8 Panthers and Carey Price this season... he's pretty good...
