The Winnipeg Jets claimed a 3-1 win against the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center tonight. Mathieu Perreault scored from the right circle with a high, hard shot past Wild goal Devan Dubnyk at 16:26 of the period while Minnesota's Jason Zucker was off for elbowing. Winnipeg has a 17-10...

Wilderness Walk: Happy Thanksgiving!

The Wild lost, but today isn't really about that. Hey, everyone! There's going to be plenty of time for you to read about the Wild's loss against Vancouver last night ahead. I'll start out your day with a little bit of happiness. Thanksgiving is here, and I don't think I have to tell you that Thanksgiving is about food giving thanks, so I'm going to do what everyone else is doing and make a quick Wild-related list of things I'm thankful for. If you want to add anything, leave it in the comments. Devan Dubnyk, for being a bad-ass, season-saving goalie. Matt Dumba, for his boundless...

Wild's plan was to ride Devan Dubnyk early

Before the season began, Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk said he looked forward to a campaign in which he wouldn't have to start 39 straight games, as he did last year.

Dubnyk confused by goalie interference during Wild's loss in Pittsburgh; Niederreiter on Maatta injury

The Wild got off to another slow start, got more poor penalty killing, and it was costly against the Penguins.

John Klingberg, Stars defeat Wild in overtime 3-2

Goals by Nino Niederreiter and Marco Scandella were enough to obtain a point from the best team in the Western Conference, as John Klingberg's goal at 3:18 won the game for the Dallas Stars. The Wild was able to answer an early Stars' goal in the first period and an early one in the third period to force overtime. Even in a loss, the Minnesota got a much needed point in the standings to keep pace with the Central's best teams. Minnesota got off to a slow start and relied heavily on their netminder Devan Dubnyk to keep the score tight. Three penalties in the first period to the...

Wild willing to ride Dubnyk while he finds his game

DALLAS -- Two weeks ago, Wild coach Mike Yeo had a difficult time articulating the real reason goalie Devan Dubnyk was starting a game in St. Louis on Halloween night, the Wild's second game in 24 hours.

Wild Score Three Straight to Come Back in Raleigh

What a bizarre game. Against a team many overlooked despite the Hurricanes being 2nd in the league in Shot-Attempts-For%, the Wild didn't have the best start of all time. They would eventually come back, however, and earn their first OT win of the season, with Dubnyk earning his NHL-leading 10th win of the season. First Period The first period did not begin how the Wild were hoping; the Wild were slow and couldn't connect passes. Christian Folin took a hooking penalty at 4:21 in the first period, and it wouldn't take Carolina long to make them pay. Justin Faulk took a pass right off the...

Three thumbs (kinda) up for Edmonton Oilers sticking with goalie Cam Talbot

In this Cult of Hockey debate, Willis, McCurdy and Staples dig into the Oil’s longstanding goalie woes The Oilers are struggling again this year and many pundits, fans and bloggers are again blaming the goalies, or, at least, Cam Talbot. We saw the same weak goaltending in 2013-14 from Devan Dubnyk and in 2014-15 from […]

Devan Dubnyk's first-period heroics set tone for Wild in victory

Last night's Pivotal Moment was Devan Dubnyk getting a huge stop in the first period. When Zach Parise went down to a knee injury on Thursday night, the Wild's identity needed to change. Without their best goal-scorer, Minnesota can't depend on their offense to carry the team quite like they did in the first twelve games of the season. In practices leading up to last night's tilt vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning, talk about getting back to a more defensive game ruled the day. But defense is only half the equation when it comes to preventing goals from being scored. The Wild haven't been elite...

Devan Dubnyk looks like the "Dooooooooooby" of old in shutout of Tampa Bay

Dubnyk, Wild ground Lightning 1-0

They weren't "booing" at the corner of West 7th and Kellogg, they were "Doobing" from start to finish as Devan Dubnyk stopped all 31 shots he faced en route to the victory. Saturday night was the first game without Zach Parise, who was announced that he'd miss some games due to an MCL sprain after a hit from Predators forward and all-around ass-hat James Neal. The Wild needed to shore up the defensive side of things and it needed players to step up on the offensive side in the absence of number 11. Minnesota returned to their layered defensive posture and made it tough for the...
