Hello Tanking My Old Friend...

I've come for moral victories again. So let's just cut to the chase guys. The season is done. You probably already know this, but it needs to be said again. Pack it up, we'll come back in June. But seriously, the team actually started to play after the first period. Prompting me to not follow through with my idea of just reviewing Star Wars Episode VII instead of actually talking about tonight's game. Thanks to the play of future former Jets Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien, the Jets found themselves back in the game, giving the silent crowd at the MTS Centre something to cheer for. Not...

Pens Points: Welcome Back, Barn Burners

Daily source of Pittsburgh Penguins and NHL news and stories. Good morning one and all, Groundhog says spring is in the air, meaning welcome back barn burners! Eleven goals! This is the first natural hat trick for El Sid in more than 5 years. [Sportsnet] Connor McDavid returned from a long injury layoff last night without missing a beat, registered multiple points and scored what surely will be in the running for the goal of the year. [Edmonton Journal] Elliotte Friedman's 30 Thoughts column speculates on which Winnipeg Jet is more likely to be traded: Ladd or Byfuglien. And many other...

Dallas Stars Daily Links: The Stars Win Game of Risk During Wild and Crazy Victory Over Jets

Antti Niemi held it down and Tyler Seguin cranked it up to get the Stars' February started right. Plus, Connor McDavid returns, and Toronto turns over a new Leaf (logo). The Dallas Stars came back from the All-Star break with a pretty good start to the rest of their season – a road win against a divisional opponent. They beat Dustin Byfuglien, a physical-as-ever Winnipeg Jets squad and (arguably) the referees during a 5-3 win that showcased much of the fast and occasionally frantic play that delivered the goods so convincingly in the season's first half. The game included the rare...

Let it be known: Byfuglien wants to stay

If Dustin Byfuglien's comments at the NHL All-Star Game about Winnipeg and re-signing with the Jets were seen as vague or lukewarm -- that was a common theme from some corners last weekend -- he has now left little doubt about his stance. Asked after Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Dallas Stars if...

Starstruck: Jets Fall 5-3

A game filled with ups and downs saw the Jets drop their first game back from the All-Star break. The Jets returned from their All-Star break tonight against the Dallas Stars. Despite the fact that they returned to the ice with a healthy lineup, it wouldn't be enough against Dallas thanks to Annti Niemi playing out of his tree. Drew Stafford scored on the Power Play in the first period to open up the scoring. The period ended with Byfuglien sitting in the box. Tyler Seguin scored at the beginning of the Second on a wicked slap shop just as the penalty expired. Not too long after Byfuglien...

Red Wings Trade Banter: Winnipeg Jets could be possible trade partner with Dustin Byfuglien

The All-Star Game is upon us all. After this weekend, all sights will shift to the NHL Trade Deadline day on February 29th, at 3 PM. What does that mean for writers like me? Trade speculation. Honestly, I've grown less and less fond of this time of the year. It's quite fruitless, and tedious, but it does matter. To teams, to fans, to the league, whatever. It matters. Okay, I'll end my personal rant. Let's crack open our first breakdown of possible trade speculation. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Detroit Red Wings need to dump salary before making any big moves happen. Players like Kyle Quincey,...

All-star Dustin Byfuglien says Winnipeg is his kind of town, but knows trade is possible

One good thing about the NHL's all-star weekend: it forces players who snub interviews on a regular basis to sit down and chat with the media.

The Winnipeg Jets Should Explore Trading Toby Enstrom

With the trade deadline approaching, Chevy should be calling other GMs about an Enstrom trade. As the trade deadline approaches and Winnipeg remains in the basement of the standings, it looks like this year's deadline could be one of the most interesting in Jets 2.0 history. As it stands now, little has changed; Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien remain unsigned and this team's core has been mediocre for the last few years. One would think all possible scenarios might be considered leading up to this year's trade deadline. A scenario that could unfold which hasn't been brought up as much...

Buff gets in some ice time while fishing on Lake Winnipeg

It looks as though Dustin Byfuglien will be able to tell a few fish stories at the NHL All-Star Game this weekend, after all. The Winnipeg Jets defenceman — who joked going to Nashville to compete in the skills competition and play in the defence-free game would cut into his ice-fishing...

Byfuglien says 'it's not rocket scientist'

After watching Dustin Byfuglien move up front to spark a stagnant Winnipeg Jets power play, some folks are wondering why head coach Paul Maurice didn't use this tactic earlier in the season.
