Flight Zone: The D is Big

A video of an Ehlers hattrick and what not, minus the what not: Links: Tim Campbell gives the D and A. Speaking of D, Byfuglien may stay there. The Winnipeg Jets made some kids smile and that makes me smile. Gary says the Jets should make a trade, but he will pprobably agree if they don't. Kevin from Jets Nation previews the week that is. The Ruble is rubby and this may impact hockey players in a big way. (Hi Burmi) Sidney Crosby is feeling a little mumpy. 99 may look to gamble big in Vegas. What's bigger, Lawson Crouse or his hype train?

Dustin Byfuglien will stay on Winnipeg Jets blue-line for the near future

Dustin Byfuglien has impressed his head coach enough that he may have a future as a defenceman with the Jets, after all.

Garbutt suspended for 3 games for slew-footing Jets defenceman Byfuglien

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NHL has suspended Dallas Stars forward Ryan Garbutt for three games for slew-footing Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien. The incident happened at 12:17 of the third period of Winnipeg's 5-2 win in Dallas on Tuesday. Byfuglien was about to beat Garbutt to a loose puck...

Video: Ryan Garbutt Faces Another NHL Hearing After Slew-Footing Dustin Byfuglien

Just another issue in a long and frustrating season. Ryan Garbutt's good will from his great season last year might have finally run out. The Dallas Stars winger will have another hearing with NHL Department of Player Safety, on Thursday, this time because of a slew foot of Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets. In the waning minutes of a another disastrous 5-2 loss, Garbutt was attempting to chase down a loose puck in a battle with the Jets forward/defenseman and in the ensuing battle, showed perfect form while slew-footing Byfuglien. Garbutt was penalized on the play, and will receive a...

Big Buff hitting dingers on 'D'

As pinch-hitters go, Dustin Byfuglien has cranked a couple of homers straight into the upper deck. The Winnipeg Jets forward-defenceman played his second straight game along the blue-line in Sunday afternoon's 4-3 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks and -- as was the case in Friday's win over...

Another solid outing on blue-line for Buff

AS pinch-hitters go, Dustin Byfuglien has cranked a couple of homers straight into the upper deck. The Winnipeg Jets forward-defenceman played his second straight game along the blue-line in Sunday afternoon’s 4-3 OT loss to the Anaheim Ducks and, as was the case in Friday’s win over...

Game 27 Recap: Jets Fly Past Avalanche

It didn't take long to see if last night's heartbreaking loss to Calgary would have a lingering effect on the Avalanche as they headed east to Manitoba to take on the Jets. The answer: A resounding yes and a 6-2 loss. This is my first shot at a recap, so thanks for reading! Tonight the boys in Burgundy and Blue (9-11-6) complete a back-to-back Canadian set, taking on the Winnipeg Jets, who enter tonight's contest with 30 points from 26 games. Time to drop the puck. First Period Didn't take long for the returning (to the blue line, that is) Dustin Byfuglien to make his impact, decking...

Jets-Avalanche: Game Day Thread

Dustin Byfuglien makes his season debut on defense and the Winnipeg Jets try to survive an avalanche of injuries as they take on the Colorado Avalanche. It has not been a very good 48 hours for the Winnipeg Jets.  In the last day, we've learned that Tobias Enstrom will be out until at least the new year, Zach Bogosian will be out for 4-6 weeks due to injury, and Grant Clitsome will be out another two weeks.  Keaton Ellerby, the Jets' top AHL call-up option, is unavailable.  Instead, the Jets have Ben Chiarot and Julien Brouillete. And...wait for it...wait for it... Looks like Dustin...

Jets D-men down

Maybe Dustin Byfuglien already had an inkling. And it could have been that his spidey senses were tingling long before he arrived for work Thursday morning. Even so, when he did saunter into the Winnipeg Jets dressing room and spied the red practice jersey reserved for defencemen hanging in his...

Toby Enstrom, Zach Bogosian inured. Dustin Byfuglien is back on defense.

Tobias Enstrom is hurt. Zach Bogosian is injured. Grant Clitsome is out. None of these injuries are short term. Keaton Ellerby is also injured in St. John's. And now Dustin Byfuglien is back on defense. That is a lot of news to take in all at once. As per Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice, everyone is hurt and Big Buff is back on defense: Zach Bogosian expected to miss 4-6 weeks with lower body injury, Enstrom to miss rest of month. Clitsome out two weeks. #nhljets #cbcmb — Jeff Hamilton (@jeffkhamilton) December 4, 2014 Looks like Dustin Byfuglien will be moved to defence....

‘Bring it on. It will not break me,' Eakins says after yet another Oilers loss

WINNIPEG — Just when it appeared there might be a tub of Gatorade poured over coach Dallas Eakins’ head in celebration, the Winnipeg Jets rained on the party Wednesday to run the Edmonton Oilers winless streak to 11 numbing games. Mathieu Perreault tipped Jake Trouba’s point shot past goalie Ben Scrivens 17 seconds into overtime for a 3-2 victory after Dustin Byfuglien had sent the game to extra time with a deflection of defenceman Mark Stuart’s shot with three minutes remaining in the third.
