Nashville Predators 3, Colorado Avalanche 2: Forsberg’s 11th Caps Road Comeback

Nashville Predators 3, Colorado Avalanche 2: Forsberg’s 11th Caps Road Comeback

The Predators found themselves down a pair of goals in Colorado this afternoon. Mike Fisher and Filip Forsberg took care of that. The Predators overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Avalanche 3-2 in a feisty afternoon game at the Pepsi Center. Despite more (yes, more) injury concerns in this game, the Preds were able to scrape together a nice road win with some replacement players. The Preds had a couple shaky moments in the 1st period. First, Gabriel Landeskog scored a strange goal from the corner to put the Avs up 1-0. The puck bounced in off Rinne’s skate, but that’s hockey, I guess....

Blackhawks trade rumors 2017: Chicago ‘checked’ on Gabriel Landeskog, James van Riemsdyk

Blackhawks trade rumors 2017: Chicago ‘checked’ on Gabriel Landeskog, James van Riemsdyk

A couple of big names have reportedly popped up on the Blackhawks’ radar this month. The Chicago Blackhawks want to add a big-name winger, and they’ve “checked in” on the Avalanche’s Gabriel Landeskog and the Maple Leafs’ James van Riemsdyk, according to NHL.com’s Brian Hedger. Either player would definitely qualify as the kind of top talent Chicago is reportedly trying to acquire to pair with Jonathan Toews. The Blackhawks are currently leading the Western Conference standings in points, but they’re a thin team with worrisome underlying statistics. Rather than wait and see...

Cody McLeod traded to the Nashville Predators

Cody McLeod traded to the Nashville Predators

After multiple seasons of senseless fighting and bottom-tier performance for Colorado, the longest tenured Avalanche will now be doing so across the division. Well, the first piece has fallen. The Avalanche traded a forward, but his name wasn’t Gabriel Landeskog or Matt Duchene, as was heavily speculated by the media. It was Cody McLeod—the longest-serving player in Burgundy & Blue. The undrafted McLeod worked his way up from an AHL contract in 2004-05, playing 149 games for the Lowell Lock Monsters (and their ECHL affiliate San Diego Gulls), the Albany River Rats and eventually the...

Admiral’s mailbag: Diving into Landeskog, Netflix conundrums

There was some chatter that the Bruins are interested in Colorado’s Gabriel Landeskog. What would the Avs be looking for? Should the Bs do it? Believed price for Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is steep

The Bruins, with pressure from above after back-to-back DNQs, are interested in making a big move and perhaps for a scoring winger. The Avalanche, the worst team in the NHL, are interested in a rebuild/retool effort to help change the culture of their group. It doesn’t take much to see a fit between the two […]

Pittsburgh Penguins trade rumors: dare to dream on Gabriel Landeskog?

The Colorado Avalanche may be getting itchy and on the verge of making a major trade to shake up their roster. One name in the rumor mill, is one the Penguins may be interested in One thing we know is that there isn't a lot of activity going on in the NHL trading market these days. Between the salary cap, term of future contracts and even next summer's expansion draft there are more barriers than ever to making a major trade, which is a huge factor into why we haven't seen one this season. A team that may be looking to shake things up though is the Colorado Avalanche. Multiple reputable...
Could James van Riemsdyk be a Boston trade target?

Could James van Riemsdyk be a Boston trade target?

The Maple Leafs winger is arguably just what the Bruins need, and his price won't break the bank. The Bruins, it appears, are going shopping this January. Coverage over the past couple of days has focused strongly on Don Sweeney looking West for a solution to the team’s current scoring woes, with Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog the name coming up most often in conversation. There's just one issue with any negotiations with the Colorado captain. The price is absolutely ridiculous. The Avalanche asking for Brandon Carlo smacks of the kind of negotiation where the seller asks for the Earth in...
