Jacob Josefson almost over his foot injury - Jacob Josefson (C) New Jersey Devils

Jacob Josefson (foot) was close to being ready to play when the season ended.

Elias joins Devils for practice; Henrique, Clowe, Josefson, Salvador stil out; DeBoer rips team

Patrik Elias was on the ice for the Devils’ practice this afternoon at Prudential Center as they prepared for Thursday night’s game in Ottawa. Elias has not played since he hit his head on the padded stanchion at the end of the Washington bench on a hit by Tom Wilson in the first period of Friday night’s win over the Capitals. He is the only one of the Devils’ injured players practicing today. Forwards Adam Henrique (groin), Ryane Clowe (hit head on boards), Jacob Josefson (left ankle/foot) and defenseman Bryce Salvador (groin) remain out. Elias is centering a line today with...

No Elias, Henrique, Josefson, Clowe for Devils’ morning skate; Schneider looks like starter again

Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique, Jacob Josefson and Ryane Clowe will all remain out with their respective injuries when the Devils face the Calgary Flames tonight at Prudential Center. None of those players are dressed for the team’s morning skate today. (Bryce Salvador also is not out there, but GM Lou Lamoriello said already Sunday that Salvador will be out a little longer than the others with his groin injury). Elias (hit head on padded stanchion), Henrique (groin) and Josefson (left foot/ankle) were injured in Friday’s 2-1 win over Washington. Clowe (hit head on boards)  was injured a...

Elias, Henrique, Josefson, Clowe all “day by day”; Devils staying on even keel on playoff push

The Devils remain tight-lipped about the injuries to Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson that kept them out of Saturday’s 3-1 win in Carolina. All three players were injured in Friday’s 2-1 win over Washington. Elias appeared to hit his head on the padded stanchion at the end of the Capitals bench on a hit from Tom Wilson in the first period. Henrique left in the second period with an apparent groin injury and Josefson limped off in the third with a left ankle/foot injury. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello would not even provide the usual upper body/lower body vague...

Devils lose Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique, Jacob Josefson to injuries in 2-1 win over Capitals

Devils were down to eight forwards in their game against the Caps.

No updates from Devils on injuries to Elias, Henrique and Josefson following 2-1 win over Caps

Devils coach Pete DeBoer did not provide any updates after tonight’s 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals on any of the three forwards who were injured during the game. Patrik Elias left in the first period with an apparent head injury, Adam Henrique left in the second with an apparent groin injury and Jacob Josefson limped off in the third with an apparent left foot injury. Elias’ equipment remained in the game locker room after the game, so that seemed to indicate he was not going to accompany the team to Carolina for Saturday night’s game. Henrique’s and Josefson’s lockers were...

Not giving up, Devils keep working on shootout, hope for help tonight; Josefson gaining confidence

Well, if anything, these Devils are persistent. After falling to 0-11 in the shootout this season with a gut-wrenching, nine-round, 3-2 loss in Buffalo on Tuesday night, the Devils were back working on it at the end of today’s practice at Prudential Center. “We’re not giving up,” forward Adam Henrique said. “We scored some goals last game. We’re going to keep working on it.” After going 1-for-30 in their first 10 shootout this season, the Devils scored twice on their first four shots Tuesday – with Jacob Josefson and Jaromir Jagr getting the goals – and actually had five...

Live post: Devils vs. Florida Panthers, 3/31/14; Clowe leaves after hitting head

The Devils lead the Florida Panthers 5-3 in the third period of tonight’s game at Prudential Center. Left wing Ryane Clowe. who has a goal and two assists tonight, appeared woozy and had to be helped off the ice after appearing to hit his head on the boards on a hit from Quinton Howden with 1:45 left in the period. He has not returned. The Devils have given no update on Clowe’s condition other than to say he won’t return tonight. THIRD PERIOD Jacob Josefson scored his first goal of the season—- a shorthanded tally 4:02 into the third period—to up the Devils’ lead to 5-3. Ryan...
