Panthers top-line forwards Jagr and Barkov slumping

Although Thursday's gruesome 6-1 loss to the Maple Leafs could mostly be pinned on turnovers and goaltending , diminished offensive production from top-line forwards Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr can't be overlooked.Certainly, the sieve-like goaltending of James Reimer was a nightmarish outing...

Maple Leafs blow by Panthers, Reimer 6-1 in Toronto

Connor Brown’s four-point night sparks Buds to big win Well, so much for that winning streak. The Florida Panthers were completely routed 6-1 by the resurgent Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday night at Air Canada Centre. It was the Cats worst defeat of the season, so far. Connor Brown scored the first of his two goals 5:55 into the opening period to get the Buds off to a good start. Brown redirected a point shot by Morgan Rielly by James Reimer for his second of the season. Nazem Kadri picked up the secondary assist on the goal, which was initially waived off due to a high stick, but...

The Daily Chum: Sharks put together another solid performance

Things are starting to gel for San Jose. Things started poorly for the Sharks on Thursday night. Jason Demers scored twice in the first period to give the Florida Panthers a 2-0 lead after San Jose controlled most of the possession in the very early going. Just as Florida looked poised to take over the contest for good, the Sharks got the breakthrough they needed. Brent Burns, in a phenomenal display of skill and strength, drove the length of the ice and beat Demers and James Reimer to make it 2-1. From there, the Sharks took over and won the game 4-2 thanks to Tommy Wingels’ third...

Familiar Faces in New Places: James Reimer

We hardly got to know you, Reims. The James Reimer trade remains one of the weirder moves the Sharks made last season. Yes, San Jose certainly needed a backup netminder as Alex Stalock floundered and Martin Jones’ workload piled up, but once the Sharks got to the playoffs Reimer saw action just once: in relief. Reimer only played eight regular season games for San Jose and posted a sterling .938 save percentage while he was here. He finished his time with the Sharks with a 6-2-0 record before signing on with the Panthers to split time with Roberto Luongo. San Jose gave up a third...
