Leafs avoided arbitration with Reimer. Goaltender James Reimer and the Toronto Maple Leafs have avoided arbitration with a new two-year contract worth US$4.6 million. The Leafs confirmed the deal in a release Friday. The Canadiens have until Friday to avoid arbitration with Subban. With his salary arbitration hearing less than a week away, P.K. Subban declined to comment at the RBC Canadian Open about his contract negotiations with the Canadiens. “I’ll answer one question about the negotiation,” he told reporters on Saturday during an appearance at the golf tournament for RBC....

Saturday Afternoon Delight Links

Some lunchtime clickings!  We had ourselves an early morning post (see below), so you get links in the afternoon - just like Ron Burgundy likes it!   rminton618 is optimistic about the Blues, and here's why: [SLGT] ANTI-ANALYTICS PEOPLE: "Welp, good thing we don't play in the Corsi Hockey League!" ...well, if we did, here would be the 2013-14 awards for each team: [Second City Hockey] James Reimer re-signed for the Maple Leafs to be the unfair whipping boy in Toronto, even though he could've very easily started in Winnipeg. Canada makes less & less sense every day. 2 years, $4.6mill...

[Weekend LL] Reimer Re-signs

James Reimer and TOR have settled on a two-year deal — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) July 25, 2014 The AAV is $2.3M — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) July 25, 2014 The signing means that the Leafs probably won't be throwing a goalie away this summer, and probably won't have to search some bottom-of-the-barrel for a backup netminder going in to the next season. The deal does expire as a UFA though, so it'll be interesting to see if the contract ends with Reimer wearing the blue and white. Cody Franson of the Toronto Maples Leafs is on the block. Should the Edmonton Oilers be interested?

This is from James Mirtle of the Globe & Mail on goalie James Reimer and defenceman Cody Franson, who just signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Leafs: “They’re not viewed as key pieces of the franchise’s future …

James Reimer to the Jets? It makes sense.

The Winnipeg Jets need help in net and James Reimer might be available on the cheap. Could James Reimer be coming home? It seems by all accounts he wants out of Toronto, could that mean a homecoming for the Manitoba native? Well, it could. The Jets need an upgrade between the pipes, and that’s been ever so apparent in the Jets first three seasons. In three years Ondrej Pavelec has not taken the Jets to the playoffs and has come nowhere near meeting the standards that were expected to come along side his large contract. Despite that, all signs are pointing to Pavelec returning to the...

Report: James Reimer wants out of Toronto

"Optimus Reim" was his nickname in recent years from Toronto Maple Leaf fans who rallied around young goalie James Reimer.  Reimer was a bright spo but never quite good enough for Leafs management.  Rumors often swirled that Toronto was seeking to acquire another goalie. I don't want to give a full history lesson on Toronto and Reimer, you'd best look elsewhere to find coverage of that.  But with a  contientious relationship between himself and head coach Randy Carlyle, it appears James has had enough.  Nick Kypreos (who erroneously reported on Spezza to Tampa Bay recently) reported via...
