Hockey World: Defenceman Ivan Provorov's NHL draft stock moving up — way up

If the Edmonton Oilers have the third pick in June’s National Hockey League entry draft, just as they did last summer, they will be taking a defenceman, but it might not be Boston College’s freshman Noah Hanifin. The 18-year-old Hanifin, who skates like Jay Bouwmeester, has most of the pre-draft buzz because he is playing against older college players and is big, but Russian-born but North American-trained Brandon Wheat Kings’ rookie Ivan Provorov is closing fast with scouts as the best defenceman on the draft board.
