For Bruins, 4 factors bear watching

Sanity trumped hockey instincts yesterday and the Bruins did indeed cancel what was scheduled to be their first practice back from the All-Star break.Presuming Mother Nature cooperates, the B’s will return from their midseason vacation to practice today at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington. Tomorrow, the Bruins go up against old friend Johnny Boychuk and the Metropolitan Division-leading New York Islanders in Uniondale, N.Y.

Seen Stamkos?

Man. If I were Steve Stamkos, I don't know if I'd want to come play in Boston anymore. First of all, there was the time he got rocked by a Johnny Boychuk slapshot in the face: Granted, it was Game 7 so he came back, but still - that had to suck. Then, if that (and the subsequent loss to the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins) wasn't enough, Dougie "The Thug" Hamilton smashed him up pretty good against the goal a little bit later. Stamkos missed a good chunk of that season, and especially the Olympics. Tough break, literally. (Warning, this sucked) No wonder the schedulers wanted to...

Islanders' Johnny Boychuk is back home out west

Reliving Johnny Boychuk's OT winner like you were his bro. (REAL brother, not a 'dude bro,' that is.)

Or: Living the frustration, then elation, when your brother's team nearly squanders an OT power play before he saves the day. As hockey fans, we all do our share of shouting at the screen, venting to our significant others (who often couldn't care less), and sharing our brilliant expertise on the Internet with whichever screen name will humor us with a response. Player's siblings, why...they're no different. They're just like us! Fans who like to follow players, and siblings, and whoever on Twitter to get more of their personality this season have noticed, among other things, Griffin...

New York Islanders 4, Washington Capitals 3 (OT): Boychuk winner salvages latest blown lead

"It seems like I've been here before." -New Order Turns out Eliot was wrong: December was the cruelest month. For the fourth time in December 2014, the New York Islanders held a 3-0 lead in a game and couldn't hold it. But...progress? This time it ended basically alright. Whereas in Minnesota and St. Louis they coughed up all the points, and where as Saturday in Buffalo they at least salvaged a regulation point from the blown 3-0 lead, tonight they escaped with two points and a final sounding of the Nassau Coliseum horn. Johnny Boychuk scored the winner on a 4-on-3 power play blast with...
