Red Wings vs. Lightning 2nd Period Thread

The Wings didn't come out strong in the first period in game 4 and found themselves trailing 1-0 by the time the first period was over thanks to a power play goal off an offensive zone penalty for Justin Abdelkader. Time to adjust to the adjustments that Tampa made. It's a 2nd period thread.

Quick Strikes for Tuesday, April 19

Reflections on game 3 (and a cry for less penalties), reflections on Jon Cooper's past too. Playoff shenanigans, NHL rule change musings and AHL playoff action too! It's your morning reading for game-day Tuesday! Good morning! You hungry? Go get your nom-nom-nom on and add a little team pride to it at Dunkin Doughnuts in downtown Tampa. [Tampa Tribune] Bawk-bawk-bawk!!! (Brian Boyle's motion toward Red Wings Justin Abdelkader.) [Tampa Tribune] From the other side of the line - 10 takeaways from Game 3 from a Red Wings writer perspective. [Wings Nation] Objection, your honor! Die hard...

Red Wings on Brian Boyle mocking Justin Abdelkader: It's hockey, not a dance off

Red Wings on Brian Boyle mocking Justin Abdelkader: It's hockey, not a dance off

DETROIT - In the heat of moment, Brian Boyle flapped his arms like a chicken and mocked Justin Abdelkader. As far as the Detroit Red Wings are concerned, Abdelkader is about the last player who would resemble that gesture. "It's...

Red Wings' Justin Abdelkader says injured hand, other factors prevented him from fighting

DETROIT - Brian Boyle wanted a piece of Justin Abdelkader after the final horn Sunday, but the Detroit Red Wings forward wasn't biting. Boyle apparently wanted some revenge for Abdelkader pummeling Tampa Bay's Mike Blunden near the end of Game...

Lightning at Red Wings: Gameday Updates

Hey look, the Red Wings did something with their lines! And we've got quite a shakeup on our hands. The only actual player swap is Brendan Smith in for Alexey Marchenko (which, okay, that's half of what we wanted) Kyle Quincey, who must be really hurt, because if you're going to sit any other non-Marchenko defensemen for performance, Q isn't the one that comes to mind. It also looks like the forward lines have been put through the Blashill Blender to start the game tonight. Joakim Andersson regains his rightful place as 3C (because it's apparently 2013 again), while Justin Abdelkader...

Red Wings Need Justin Abdelkader to Smarten Up

After some questionable play in the first game that some fans approved of and others disparaged, Justin Abdelkader took things a step further in Game 2 of the playoffs. Make no bones about it, the Detroit Red Wings didn't play well in Game 2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both times the Wings scored to tie it, the Bolts came right back to re-take the lead. And once again, they were completely obliterated by the Tyler Johnson line. I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of seeing that fish-faced jerkwad absolutely killing our team. The Wings certainly didn't do themselves any favors in...
