Marian Hossa named NHL's First Star of the Week

No surprise that Hossa has been honored after an incredible run last week. Chicago Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa earned NHL First Star of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 9-15 thanks to his recent scoring outburst. The league announced the news Monday morning, noting that Hossa led all goal scorers during the week with five and tied for the points lead with six. Hossa has been a revelation of late, turning around a season that was on pace to be one of his least productive ever. The four-game multi-point streak was among the most impressive stretches we've seen from a 'Hawks player in...

Marian Hossa scored his seventh goal in four games, and the Blackhawks rallied for a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Friday night.

Marian Hossa's magic touch continues for fourth consecutive game

CHICAGO -- Marian Hossa took a moment to ponder whether he’s ever experienced such an individual run as the one he’s had the last four games for the Chicago Blackhawks. Hossa couldn’t come with anything in his personal NHL database. He had to dig a little deeper. “Uh, junior, Portland,” Hossa finally answered while cracking a smile after the Blackhawks’ 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday. It was for the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League that Hossa scored 45 goals and recorded 85 points in 53 games as a 19-year-old.

Rapid Reaction: Blackhawks 3, Devils 1

CHICAGO -- Here’s a quick look at the Chicago Blackhawks’ 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils at the United Center on Friday. How it happened: Marian Hossa happened. Hossa continued his hot streak. With the Blackhawks trailing 1-0, Hossa scored a power-play goal from the right circle at 1:27 of the third period. It was the fourth consecutive game in which he had scored. Hossa wasn’t done. He set up a Jonathan Toews goal less than three minutes later.

Goals pouring in for Marian Hossa

CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa never doubted the goals would eventually come, even though he preferred they’d arrive sooner. “I just play my game,” Hossa said recently. “I know good things will happen. I can’t get frustrated. Just keep playing the way I’m playing and good things will happen.” For the first 52 games this season, Hossa played his game and wasn’t rewarded. He was creating chances like he did in the past -- he had 153 shots -- but they resulted in just 10 goals.

Marian Hossa is back, even if he never went anywhere

After a quiet start to the year, as far as his statistical output is concerned, Marian Hossa is starting to find a rhythm in the goal scoring department. That's great news for the Hawks and bad news for the rest of the NHL. As disappointing as a shootout loss, or a loss in any capacity, to the Arizona Coyotes is, there was at least one very large positive to come out of it: Marian Hossa is showcasing a return to form. After standing out, and being one of the only players to actually do so, in the back-to-back set for the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday and Monday, Hossa is beginning to find a...

Blackhawks vs. Blues final score: Marian Hossa comes alive in 4-2 matinee victory

Marian Hossa scored two goals and the 'Hawks came up with a huge road win in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon. Blowing a pair of leads in the first two periods must have been frustrating for the Chicago Blackhawks, but it only set the stage for Marian Hossa to come alive with a pair of third-period goals to beat the St. Louis Blues, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon. It was the kind of game we've been waiting for the past couple weeks from Hossa, who's been piling up shot attempts this season but struggling to convert them into goals. While one of the scores on Sunday came with an empty net in the...
