Matt Duchene Making a Difference For Nashville Predators

Matt Duchene Making a Difference For Nashville Predators

Matt Duchene has only played six games for the Nashville Predators, but he’s already making a difference. The 28-year-old has already collected seven assists in just six games with the club. He was the team’s big-money signing in the off-season with a seven-year, $56 million deal. It’s still early but he’s been a shot in the arm to the Predators’ offence. Head coach Peter Laviolette decided to break up the beloved “JoFA” of Ryan Johansen, Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson that has been piling up the points the last two seasons. Duchene has been on a line with Forsberg and...

NHL Notebook: Youngsters Interested in CBA, Ottawa Attendance, Devils

Matt Duchene remembers feeling like he was in way over his head. Having just completed his third NHL season and not yet 22 years old, Duchene could see the ominous labour clouds as the league and its players’ association rolled towards a lockout that would eventually wipe out a large chunk of the 2012-13 campaign. Nashville Predators @ L.A. Kings Preview: It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere

Photo by Harry How/ The Preds face the Kings in an early-evening bout in Los Angeles. Instead of their usual 7:00 contest, the Predators face the Kings tonight at 5:00 Central. Here’s your preview! Nashville Predators Matt Duchene sits alone atop the Preds’ points list with eight. His goal on Thursday evening against Washington was his first of the season. His line, including Mikael Granlund and Filip Forsberg, seems to be rolling right along. I expect to see both “top” lines making waves in Los Angeles today. According to practice notes before the Predators left Nashville, it...

Friday’s Dump & Chase: On The Road Again

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports The Preds are hitting the road this weekend for a little west coast swing. Hockey News & Rants Nashville Predators 6, Washington Capitals 5: Offense Comes Alive in High-Scoring Win l OnTheForecheck This one got rowdy, and just when it looked like the Preds were going to slide into habits of old, they pulled out a win. Goals from Ryan Johansen, Nick Bonino, Filip Forsberg, Mattias Ekholm, and a big first goal in gold for Matt Duchene. If every game is like this one, we’re in for a fun season. Nashville Predators 6, Washington Capitals 5: Offense Comes Alive in High-Scoring Win

Photo by John Russell/NHLI via 11 total goals between Washington and Nashville tonight. The Predators hosted the Capitals in the last game of their current homestand. With plenty of Caps fans in the crowd, Bridgestone Arena was pretty full for a Thursday evening. Viktor Arvidsson and Matt Duchene both had some beautiful chances early in the first period, but they were unable to get the puck past Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby. At the halfway mark of the first period, the Capitals were able to convert on a mistake by rookie Dante Fabbro in front of Pekka Rinne. Less than two minutes...

Nashville Predators vs Washington Capitals Game Preview: D.C. = Duchene Country

Steve Roberts-USA TODAY Sports The Preds’ eventful season-opening homestand ends tonight against Ovi and Co. Tonight’s the fourth and final game of the Predators’ season-opening homestand; a wacky affair that’s featured two blowouts, a head-scratching loss, Matt Duchene dishing out more apples than a Michigan cider mill, a weird social media debate over a pedal tavern that... sigh... this is going to go on all season, isn’t it? Coming to town tonight? Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. After two straight OT losses, the Caps are looking for a big win over a team...

Sharks at Predators Preview: Early trip to Music City

John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports P.K. Subban is gone, Matt Duchene has arrived. The San Jose Sharks (0-3-0) meet the Nashville Predators (1-1-0) for the first time in this young season. Nashville started the season out with a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild, but then lost to the Detroit Red Wings 5-3 on Saturday. Nashville is a different team than one we saw in the past. P.K. Subban is now in New Jersey and Matt Duchene has come in to center the second line. Subban was traded before the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and the start of free agency. Our friends at On the Forecheck call it a “panic...

Detroit Red Wings 5, Nashville Predators 3: One Step Forward... One Step Back

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports I’ll give you the disclaimer off the bat. This is only game two of an 82-game season. You’re not going to be able to predict the outcome of the entire year based on anything we’ve seen so far. But I feel like we’ve seen glimpses of the extreme highs and lows of Nashville’s potential. There’s plenty to be excited about, for sure. The offense was on fire. The Predators outshot Detroit 42-28, and controlled possession for most of the game. Matt Duchene added two assists, giving him five in the first two games (tying a record for a...

An Introduction to Hockey in Smashville

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports Invite a friend to become a fan with this helpful information. In a recent ESPN interview, new Predator Matt Duchene said, “Anybody who does get into hockey ends up loving it, and most of the time it becomes their No. 1 sport. The biggest thing is how do we get everyone to that sport? It’s amazing how many Americans I meet who grew up with baseball, basketball, football as their main culture, and then they go to a hockey game, and they’re hooked.” Matt Duchene was telling my story. I was raised around Sabres fans (God bless them…) and...

A division that features the current defending champs in the St. Louis Blues as well as four of the last ten Stanley Cup winners thanks to the Chicago Blackhawks.
