Wild come from behind to earn a 5-4 OT win over the Tampa Bay Lightning

Mikael Granlund capped off a 5-4 comeback win for Minnesota After a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Friday night the Minnesota Wild returned home to St.Paul for a game against the powerhouse Tampa Bay Lightning, who had been waiting and resting for the Wild back in Minnesota. This was a good win for Minnesota in several ways, firstly, Minnesota was on the back end of a back to back against a rested team, which is never an easy thing to do in the NHL. Secondly, the Wild did not start out very well in this game, falling behind 2-0 early. They easily could've gone into a shell, but they kept...

3 Things We Learned Wild vs Coyotes: Sometimes good is good enough

3 Things We Learned Wild vs Coyotes: Sometimes good is good enough

The Wild got back into the “win’ column by beating the truly snake-bitten (maybe a rattlesnake?) Arizona Coyotes by a score of 2-1. Minnesota got the win, but you can’t call the game pretty. Minnesota coming off a game the night before, Mikko Koivu a late scratch to be with his wife for the birth of their child, and Matt Hendricks getting injured late in the first period was a tall task. Luckily they got to play a team that has yet to score at even strength, and only has four goals total. Minnesota now moves to 2-2-2. Eric Staal and Mikael Granlund were the goal scorers, Winning is...

Zucker provides spark, Wild beat Blackhawks in overtime 4-3

Zucker provides spark, Wild beat Blackhawks in overtime 4-3

Head coach Bruce Boudreau couldn’t stand pat as his Minnesota Wild squad looked listless through the first two games of the season. Slow starts in both games, an absence of goal scoring, and a lot of hand-wringing about the highest paid players on the team not showing up made for a tenuous start to the season. In come the line changes. Boudreau and company put Joel Eriksson Ek with Eric Staal and Jason Zucker. Mikko Koivu centered a line of Zach Parise and Mikael Granlund. Charlie Coyle got a bump from Nino Niederreiter on his line with rookie center Jordan Greenway. Strike that. The...
