Japers' Rink Your savory breakfast links: It's been a long, bumpy road behind the Caps bench, and Mike Green sums up what Adam Oates means for the team: "Stability is everything. We've had four coaches since I've been here. With each year we didn't know what to expect and with Adam it's so consistent. I know exactly what I need to do to prepare myself for next season and that's key." Hear, hear. [CSNW] The year in review for the crew that held down the blue line (most of the time) this season... Japers' Rink Your savory breakfast links: Breakdown Day is in the books, as the Caps packed up their gear yesterday and parted for the summer - but not before meeting with the media one last time: In general. [DSP (bosses, players), CSNW] Check out lots of sad faces (and, um, whatever is going on with Mike Green's hair) in the team's exit interviews over at Monumental Network. Okay, okay. Focus. Ignore the hair, listen to the message: Green and his teammates still believe. [CSNW] Breakdown day in photographic form. See you in the fall, boys. Washington Capitals May 16, 2013The Blueshirts Blog | New York Daily News WASHINGTON – The key swing moment of Game 7 Monday night at the Verizon Center was Henrik Lundqvist’s breakaway stop on Capitals defenseman Mike Green, followed by Arron Asham’s slapper on the rush for a 1-0 first-period lead that the Rangers would hold the rest of the way. But quiet grinder ...
New York Rangers May 14, 2013Washington Post This is more than a concern, more than a beat-down in a win-or-go-home game. This is a fear, and the fear is this: Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green are going to wake up one day and realize they look more like old maids than young guns, and their NHL careers are going to be a monument to unfulfilled promise. Washington Capitals May 14, 2013Washington Post Late in Game 6 on Sunday night, Mike Green and Derek Dorsett collided as they chased the puck into the corner of the Washington zone. Blueshirt Banter Goals. 4:06 of P1- Nicklas Backstrom (1) from Carlson (1) and Erskine (1). 12:50 of P1- Brian Boyle (1) from Brassard (1) and Del Zotto (1). (I don't believe it either) 1:23 of P2 - Derick Brassard (1) from Zuccarello (1) and Boyle (1). 17:19 of P2 - Mike Green (2) from Perreault (2) and Chimera (1). Just a thought, let's not let Mike Green have time and space ever again. Ever. Brassard and Boyle each with two point nights through two periods. How good does John Moore look on the powerplay? Let's go Rangers. Believe.

Blueshirt Banter Eight minutes into overtime of Game Two the Washington Capitals found themselves on their first powerplay of the game. It took just fifty-one seconds until Mike Green fired a slap shot past Henrik Lundqvist to give the Washington Capitals a 2-0 lead in the series and make Ryan McDonagh feel like the loneliest man on the planet. Through almost six and a half periods of playoff hockey the Rangers have scored just one goal. Ironically, it was the first goal of the series. Carl Hagelin scored a wrap-around that went off of John Erskine's skate and into the net 16:44 into the first period ...
New York Rangers May 5, 2013Rangers Rants | Bergen Record The mood in the Rangers’ locker room was a combination of dejection and frustration following today’s 1-0 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals at Verizon Center. Defenseman Ryan McDonagh, whose delay of game penalty led to Mike Green’s winning power-play goal 8:00 into overtime, was escorted out of the main part of the visiting locker room as the media entered after the game and his eyes were red and still glassy from tears when he returned later to answer questions. McDonagh wasn’t the only one who was down. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, ...
