Toronto Maple Leafs: Connor Carrick Shouldn’t Be Fighting to Make Team

The Toronto Maple Leafs are in training camp, and the team is set to open the pre-season against the Senators this week. One of the more interesting training camp battles is for the sixth position on the Toronto Maple Leafs blue line. The consensus is that the Leafs will return with their top four intact […] Toronto Maple Leafs: Connor Carrick Shouldn’t Be Fighting to Make Team - Editor In Leaf - Editor In Leaf - A Toronto Maple Leafs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

First Leaf cuts were easy, but next group harder

NIAGARA FALLS — At least the kids saw a great show before being sent home. After the most entertaining of three scrimmage games ended the Niagara Falls’ portion of Maple Leafs training camp on Sunday, 25 players were returned to junior hockey or assigned to the AHL Marlies/development roster. Mike Babcock gave the departed a […]

Toronto Maple Leafs Announce First Round of Cuts

The Toronto Maple Leafs made the first step towards whittling down their roster today by announcing the first round of training camp cuts. Opening camp with a hefty roster in excess of 70 players, the Leafs make the trip back to Toronto now housing just 46. The list of those who didn’t make the cut can […] Toronto Maple Leafs Announce First Round of Cuts - Editor In Leaf - Editor In Leaf - A Toronto Maple Leafs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Josh Leivo lets the puck do the talking in today’s scrimmage

Josh Leivo lets the puck do the talking in today’s scrimmage

There’s also a nifty Kapanen rush, and some guy named John got a goal too. More scrimmage highlights for you today. There’s no Matthews line, rather it’s Kadri vs Tavares today. Josh Leivo does it where it counts — on the ice. He has a goal and some other interesting chances. Playing with Nazem Kadri and Connor Brown really does help him. In the opening segment, you can just see Igor Ozhiganov, playing with Travis Dermott, keeping the puck alive on the right point for the blue team. Leivo then scores by rushing the net, and that is a nice move from Connor Brown to set that up....

Kadri praises accountable Gardiner; Babcock says Maple Leafs look forward to ‘getting Jake signed’

NIAGARA FALLS – When Jake Gardiner owned up to his miserable performance against the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs last spring, Nazem Kadri, like the rest of the Maple Leafs, took notice. “It’s accountability,” Kadri said. “It takes a lot of courage to be able to […]

Kadri on the Maple Leafs’ perceived physical issues: ‘I know there are no soft guys on this team’

Count Nazem Kadri among those who are not worried about the Maple Leafs’ perceived lack of physicality with the losses during the off-season of Matt Martin, Leo Komarov and Roman Polak. Each brought grit to the lineup, but Martin played in just three games after Jan. 22, Komarov was a non-factor in the playoffs and […]

Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs recap: Habs find some offence after a slow start

Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs recap: Habs find some offence after a slow start

The rookies played much better against Toronto, but a few costly errors set the tone of the game. After a poor showing against the Ottawa Senators prospects on Friday, the Canadiens rookies were back on the ice to face off with the Maple Leafs. Toronto was coming off a 6-5 overtime loss to the Senators on Saturday afternoon, so both squads were looking to end the tournament on a high note. Montreal was without the services of Jake Evans, who is recovering in concussion protocol after a scary incident on Friday night. Getting the start in net would be second-year AHL netminder Michael...

Toronto Maple Leafs: NHL Award Possibilities

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a pretty stacked team.
