Nick Leddy the latest to buy into New York Islanders culture

Come with us. Of course he's going to say it when the team signs him to a seven-year contract, but then again, that is why he was willing to sign a seven-year contract: Nick Leddy buys into what the New York Islanders are selling. (Yes, the Islanders are also handsomely "buying" into Leddy to the price of $38.5 million, give or take an escrow here, a loony plummet there.) By philosophy or by necessity, or both, general manager Garth Snow and the rest of the Isles brass have cultivated a tight, close-knit team culture where players have largely believed in the direction of the franchise even...

The Islanders have inked one of their top pairing defenseman to a new long-term contract. Sources from all over the internet today have confirmed that the New York Islanders have re-signed defenseman Nick Leddy to a 7-year, $38.5 million contract, which brings his new AAV to $5.5M. The 24-year-old Leddy has been a revelation this season for the Islanders as the team has given him top pairing minutes with Johnny Boychuk and seen his all-around game flourish in a way it never did on Chicago's third pairing. Having turned into a possession driving monster, Leddy is set to be the leading man on...

Nick Leddy Signs 7-Year Contract with New York Islanders

This, this is good. Nick Leddy has signed a seven-year contract extension with the New York Islanders. In his first season with the club after an October trade from the Chicago Blackhawks, Leddy has proven to be the Isles' most effective defenseman. At age 23, he was a pending restricted free agent this coming summer. Locking him up, and long term through his prime years, is a major move for the team's present and future. UPDATE: Elliotte Friedman has the AAV for Leddy and Craig Custance has a yearly breakdown on the escalating (but within the rules) deal: Leddy AAV is $5.5M — Elliotte...
