Alan Quine: How a sixth-round re-pick graduated to NHL playoff baptismal fire

An untimely injury and an experiment with the three longest-serving Islanders creates a new dynamic. Alan Quine's wasn't involved in the Thomas Hickey overtime goal that won Game 3 for the New York Islanders. But Quine's linemate, Shane Prince, arrived first along with Josh Bailey to form the beginning of the pile to begin the best scene in sports: the celebration of a sudden death home playoff overtime goal. Josh Bailey was well aware of his struggles in Games 1 and 2 along with linemates Brock Nelson and Nikolay Kulemin. Jack Capuano had Steve Bernier waiting in the wings but stayed with three of his longer-serving veterans.

William Nylander off to a good start in his NHL career

He's been scoring at a point-per-game pace as of late, though multi-point games have really helped with that. We're just 21 games into William Nylander's NHL career, and he already has four multi-point games: two of which are three-pointers. Via the Elias Sports Bureau, Inc.: Nylander is the first Maple Leafs rookie to score at least three points in a game twice in one season since 2008-09, when Mikhail Grabovski did it three times and Nikolay Kulemin did so twice. The nice news? Nylander will top out at 22 games this season, so he'll still be considered a rookie going into next year....
