The Flames at centre next season

The Flames probably aren't going to be very good next season, but one position they shouldn't have to worry about is centre. Centre is the most important position in hockey, and for a long time, the Flames had next to nothing in that area. There was Matt Stajan. There was Olli Jokinen for a few years. There was, "Hey, Mike Cammalleri, you played centre in junior, right? Could you... uh... go back there?" and the exact same thing happened with Alex Tanguay. The Flames notably did not fare particularly well those years, going on a long playoff drought, and eventually being forced to trade...

The Predators Predators, Olli Jokinen hoping to end their recent playoff droughts - THN The fact that Joker has only been to the playoffs once boggles my mind. Quality of Jokinen deal hinges on whether or not Predators make more moves

If this is Nashville's only move, their in trouble. If they can add more, it looks a lot better. On its own, Wednesday's signing of Olli Jokinen may seem like a bit of a head scratcher. After all, the team needs a de facto number one center to be able to help James Neal wear out the goal light, and Jokinen is not that guy. He also crowds the center position without drastically improving the lineup. However, the Predators seem to know this, and are still actively looking to bolster their lineup. If they aren't touting him as the center they're looking for, that's great news. Make no...

Predators sign Olli Jokinen to 1-year, $2.5 million dollar deal

The Nashville Predators have finally made an offseason move, and for a center, no less. #NHL signing.   Olli Jokinen 1 year deal.   2.5m. # Preds— Nick Kypreos (@RealKyper) July 2, 2014 Olli Jokinen may not have been on a lot of people's radar, but was on our "bargain bin" list before the offseason started. His stats and possession metrics aren't incredibly impressive, but they have been worse. We'll wait to see what develops, and if there are any more moves to come. Stay tuned...

FlightZone: Jokinen Going Elsewhere?

Why Mike Richards is still a King, a look at the Jets goaltending depth, and the University of Ottawa suspended their men's team for a year. Links: Ed Tait continues his journey through the Winnipeg Jets depth chart and kinda, sorta calls out Ondrej Pavelec. Should the Jets keep Olli Jokinen or let him go? Who should they sign instead? Who would you like to draft in Arctic Ice Hockey's special draft? Another interesting read on Josh Ho-Sang. He seems to be very naive about some things in the world. And Ho-Sang also cleared up his comments about Rychel and accuses Steve Simmons of...

No joke -- Jets have decision at centre ice

ON the surface, the question is "Will the Winnipeg Jets be better with or without Olli Jokinen?" but the deeper consideration is "Can they afford to have him taking up space in the lineup?" If re-signed, Jokinen would come back as the Jets' third-line centre and there is evidence to suggest...
