Red Wings vs. Lightning 2nd Period Thread

One period down in Detroit and the score is 0-0. Both teams failed to score on one power play opportunity and we had a full two minutes of four on four. Things aren't being called tight, but the obvious stuff is drawing whistles. Even though shots are 8-8, and the possession numbers are ok, it feels like the Wings survived that period. A couple off-man rushes for Glendening and Miller could have turned things awesome and Mrazek had a super ugly turnover that forced him to make a save. I like Datsyuk.

Red Wings vs. Lightning 2nd Period Thread

20 minutes gone at the Joe and the Wings win 1-0 on a Pavel Datsyuk incidental tip-in from a Tomas Tatar point shot timing play. The Wings came out flying in the first and then found themselves on their heels after the goal. The refs controlled the next six minutes or so and then the period ended. Darren Helm is good, yo.

Jiri Hudler named finalist for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy

Hudler, alongside Anze Kopitar and Pavel Datsyuk, is nominated as one of the best, most sportsmanlike players of the 2014-15 season. The Lady Byng isn't the most impressive award. It's no Hart, no Norris, no Calder. But it exemplifies the spirit of hockey, going to the most sportsmanlike high-level players in the NHL. Hockey fans like talking about class; that's the Lady Byng. Jiri Hudler has been named one of the three finalists for the award, alongside the Los Angeles Kings' Anze Kopitar, and Detroit Red Wings' (and former teammate) Pavel Datsyuk. Hudler was absolutely key for his team...
