The Bruins spent 82 games earning home ice advantage throughout the playoffs with one of the most consistent regular seasons they’ve ever had. Now, thanks to a flick of Pavel Datsyuk’s wrist, they have to earn it back all over again at Joe Louis Arena. In a taut, defensive struggle in Game 1 of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the magical Datsyuk scored the only goal of the game with 3:01 left in regulation and, thanks to some very timely saves from Jimmy Howard (25 stops), the Detroit Red Wings took the opener, 1-0, last night at the Garden.

Chris Osgood: Silver lining of Pavel Datsyuk's injury is he should be fresh for Red Wings' run

On Fox Sports Detroit's pregame show, the former Detroit goalie said Datsyuk has played hte "perfect amount" of games to be ready for the playoffs.

Datsyuk will be a challenge for Bruins

BOSTON -- Pavel Datsyuk’s resume speaks for itself. The Detroit Red Wings veteran centerman has won two Stanley Cups (2002, 2008), three Selke Awards, four Lady Bying Trophies and he’s a four-time All-Star. The 35-year-old Russian has compiled 804 points in 824 career games in the NHL. Safe to say he’s one of the best players in the world. In 13 career games against the Boston Bruins, Datsyuk has three goals and eight assists for 11 points.

The Battle Within The Battle: Pavel Datsyuk vs Patrice Bergeron

The start of the Red Wings-Bruins first round series is still 3 agonizing days away, so we fans are doing what we do best: arguing. In the past, Wing fans have been forced to deal with the obtuse in Duck fans, the newly-annointed-and-therefore-the-noisiest-and-dumbest Blackhawk fans, and the mouth-breathing troglodytes called Blues fans, most of whom consider the description I just gave them as a compliment. However, the Red Wings are in the East now, and that means that we're interacting with a whole new set of fanbases, folks we're not sure of yet, and who haven't been forced to bear...

Gameday Updates: Red Wings at Penguins

We're going to keep saying it until we either have it or until we back our way into the playoffs: one more point secures another postseason for the Detroit Red Wings. Can they get it done tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins? Red Wings The Red Wings had an optional morning skate today, with only the goalies, Todd Bertuzzi, and Joakim Andersson taking part. Joakim Andersson is apparently a game-time decision, by which I mean Joker is going to be in the pre-game warm up and possibly take the place of someone else who hasn't been identified yet (except that it's not Pavel Datsyuk). So...
