Nelson, Team USA routed by Russia, finish fourth at IIHF Worlds

Islanders forward Brock Nelson and his Team USA teammates were routed by Russia 7-2 at the IIHF World Championships on Sunday, giving the host country the bronze medal and sending the Americans home smarting. KHL scoring leader Sergei Moyzakin had two goals and an assist for Russia, while Blackhawks Calder Trophy candidate Artemi Panarin had a goal and two assists. Pavel Datsyuk, who sadly for us might just stay over there forever now, had three assists in the game. Russia has medaled in the last three World Championships, taking gold in 2014 and silver last year. Nelson earned an assist on...

Analyzing a Potential Datsyuk for Pronger Trade

In a cap world, every little bit helps, but this would truly be a little bit As reports come in from across the pond about Pavel Datsyuk's impending departure just as quickly as Datsyuk's agent can wave them off, we're stuck with quite a bit of time to think between now and the middle of June, when we've been told Datsyuk and the Red Wings will meet to discuss the star player's future. For most of us, there's still a bit of hope that Datsyuk will return, bring Alexander Radulov with him, and the Wings will be able to do more than just extend the stupid streak. It may all just be a pipe...

2016 IIHF World Championships: The Greiss Express finally stops; Brock the Nation

Go home, dude. You've earned it. Thomas Greiss' revelatory season finally came to an end at the IIHF World Championships on Wednesday, unless he finds another team to loan his steady catching glove to in the next few days. Russia beat Germany 4-1 by pumping 37 shots at Greiss, some of the very difficult variety. But don't take my word for it: Greiss was surely the only reason the hosts didn’t reach double digits. On one power play midway through the second he robbed Alexander Ovechkin with a pad save. Moments later, he whipped the glove out to rob [Pavel] Datsyuk from the other...

2016 Draft Prospect Profile: Will Meldonium Scandal Hurt German Rubtsov?

German Rubtsov could be the next great Russian center, but an alleged doping scandal could hurt his draft stock. German Rubtsov could be one of the more interesting prospects at this year's NHL Draft.  The Russian centerman possesses a strong two-way game - so much so that some scouts call him the best two-way player in this year's class.  He has drawn comparisons to Pavel Datsyuk with his magic on the puck and vision on the ice. Rubtsov also comes with a risk.  He was slated to be on Russia's U18 National Team for World Juniors, but the entire team did not make the trip to the U.S. for...

Should the Red Wings re-sign Brad Richards?

Pro or No? Hey there... ready for the latest edition of Pro or No? Today's contestant is non other than #Brad Richards. Mr. Richards came to the Red Wings last offseason on a 1-year deal with dreams of winning another Stanley Cup. He was supposed to be that key veteran piece that could play 2nd line center and allow Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk to play together. But much like every other player that's recently been put into that position... he failed. Brad Richards #17 / Center / Detroit Red Wings Height: 6-0 Weight: 199 Born: May 2, 1980 The...
