Kuzma: Alex Burrows sees the writing on the wall: It says ‘Vrbata’

The curious nature of those affected in the reshaping of the Vancouver Canucks extends 3,700 kilometres. The future will be on display Monday when a prospects camp opens at UBC, but last Wednesday’s signing of unrestricted free agent winger Radim Vrbata had a here-and-now impact in Montreal. That’s where Alex Burrows trains in the offseason, and he immediately knew what he’ll be up against in the battle to keep patrolling the wing on a line with Henrik and Daniel Sedin.

Gallagher: A lot’s on Vey if Vancouver is to go a long way

With Vancouver general manager Jim Benning saying he’s pretty much done this summer and the team is set to start the season with its present roster, Vancouver hockey fans had best hope the new guy has pulled off one of the great steals in team history when he lifted Linden Vey from the L.A. kings for just a third-round draft choice. While the club’s prospects were certainly helped by the signing of Radim Vrbata this week, particularly if he does develop some chemistry with the Sedins or is able to aid the Swedish brothers in getting back somewhere near the form we are used to seeing, Vey...

A Closer Look At Radim Vrbata

What can be expected from the newest offensive weapon? When GMJB said he was done bridging his roster for now, it largely means the dreaded 1-2 punch of centers in the West - headlined by the skill that LA, Anaheim, Chicago, St. Louis and San Jose boost down the middle - for Vancouver will be Henrik Sedin and Nick Bonino. Not only will it put added pressure on Bones to mesh well with his new linemates (Kassian and Burrows perhaps?), but a ton of focus will be on the presumptive new third Sedin in Radim Vrbata and his ability to help carry the offense. First let's hear from Sir Bennington on...

Botchford: The role of Sedin sidekick filled once again

No wonder Radim Vrbata passed up on longer-term offers to sign with Vancouver. Not only does he get to join the Canucks and get paid $5 million a year to do it, he gets membership into an exclusive club.

Canucks Reportedly Sign Radim Vrbata

There is no number coming across the Twittersphere as of yet, though he made 3 mil last year... I like the guy, as I remember him to be a pain in the *** for the Canucks to play against at times, in addition to being able to put the puck in the net ( Radim Vrbata got 20 goals and 51 points last year for that 3 mil, and just 2 years before that, scored 35 goals and 62 points. More to come, like the cost ( just coming across the dictaphone...2 years and 10 million.  He can score, we hope, but I like that the first thing I remembered about the guy is that he was a pain in the *** for my team...

Report: Sharks among teams interested in Radim Vrbata

Former 35-goal scorer becomes an unrestricted free agent tomorrow. If general manager Doug Wilson is to be believed, the Sharks will not be very active when the NHL's unrestricted free agency period opens tomorrow. Early in the offseason, Wilson told CSN Bay Area the team would "probably not" be players in the free agent market, a sentiment he reiterated on the draft floor this past weekend. And yet, the Sharks appear to be one of the few teams still in the running for Phoenix Coyotes right wing Radim Vrbata, who is slated to test the market: Appears to be 5-6 teams expressing interest...
