2014 NHL Playoffs: Ray Whitney And Teemu Selanne Compete For Stanley Cup

Two 40 year olds are getting another crack at Lord Stanley's Cup Teemu Selanne and Ray Whitney have combined for almost 1,800 games played, over 1,000 goals, and 2,500 points. Both players have had significant impacts on the NHL. Both players seem to be winding down their careers. Selanne has already announced he will retire when the season concludes. Whitney doesn't seem to have much time left. This very well could be the final chance for both players to compete for a Stanley Cup. Both players come into the series as complementary pieces to their respective clubs after years of being core...

Dallas Stars Practice Update: Ray Whitney Out for Tampa Bay Game; Erik Cole Game-Day Decision

Jamie Benn was also given the day off practice as the Stars prepare to continue their road trip in Florida with a game against the Lightning. Another member of the Dallas Stars foward corps is down for the count, at least temporarily, as Ray Whitney will not play in Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning because of a lower-body injury suffered in the loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. There's no mention if this injury is connected to the one that caused Whitney to miss practice earlier this week and, at least as of yet, no idea how long he might be out. The team may get veteran...

Kari Lehtonen to Start Against Nashville, Ray Whitney Still Questionable

Four home games remaining, including this one. They need these points. Badly. Ray Whitney scored a huge power play goal against Winnipg Monday night in a 2-1 win. They hope he'll be back in the lineup tonight after missing practice all this week with an illness, but they can't be sure until game time. Chris Muller has been re-called in wake of that news and will dress tonight for the pre-game skate, and could slot in along with Dustin Jeffrey if Whitney can't make it. "Depending on if he gets a good meal in him and feels well tonight, energy level's a big deal," Ruff told media. "He wasn't...

Ray Whitney Questionable, Erik Cole Out for Dallas Stars Game Against Nashville Predators

The Stars potentially lost another veteran forward to the recent injury/illness bug as Ray Whitney missed Thursday's practice with the flu. With Erik Cole still on the shelf with an undisclosed upper-body injury, the  Dallas Stars may have lost another veteran forward (and one who has been playing well recently at that) as Ray Whitney was not on the ice for Thursday's practice because of an illness. This is not the first sign that a bug might be running around in the locker room. Alex Chiasson left last Friday's practice early due to an illness but did not miss any game time. Whitney is...
