Pension Plan Puppets The Story Adam McQuaid struck first, with a slap shot off the faceoff that beat a screened Reimer, Peverly scored when Jagr took the puck from a stationary Ryan O'Byrne, and suddenly it was 2-0. The Leafs finally answered, as Gardiner scored a power play goal - a nice upgrade from the Press Box - but Horton and Paille would score to make it 4-1 going in to the third period. Kessel scored on the power play early in the third, but it wasn't enough, as the Bruins would ice the empty netter and take a 5-2 win. The Game in Six Toronto put 47 shots on net and hit two posts. Let's get ...

Stanley Cup of Chowder Today we're taking a look at noted former Canadiens defenseman and current Maple Leafs press box hero Ryan O'Byrne. O'Byrne has been sacrificed to the press box in favor of Mike Kostka in recent games, but as Kostka is out with a broken finger, it's likely we'll see him return to the lineup tomorrow. Bruins fans might remember O'Byrne from laughing at him in 2008 when he got arrested with force for grand theft in Tampa Bay -- he stole a woman's purse and was eventually released on $2000 bail. Really smrt there, buddy. His twitter is pretty boring, but occasionally there's interesting t...

Pension Plan Puppets The Story JVR opened the scoring on a beautiful job of crashing the net and a great centering pass by Liles. Kadri fed a great cross-rink pass to Ryan O'Byrne, who scored the 5th goal of his career to put the Leafs up 2-0. Rick Nash stopped the Leafs' run, beating Cody Franson with the prototypical power forward move and making Reimer's save selection look awful. Kessel lays a sick wrister through a great screen by JVR to make it 3-1, but rick Nash answered with his second of the night. Stepan tied the game 3-all on a 2-on-1 that's basically a 1-on-0. Who would score the game winner? N...

Pension Plan Puppets I think most of us are on the same page: the Leafs do not need goaltending, and it's a very good thing that the team didn't give up any kind of assets to acquire one. The team does however, need defensive help, and it's just a little unfortunate that Ryan O'Byrne was the only defender acquired by the team. Could have been worse. Mile High Hockey Like many people predicted, Ryan O'Byrne brought back a fourth rounder. He's headed to Toronto to join John-Michael Liles. It's such a big trade that Sportsnet is still talking about Luongo instead of the trade. O'Byrne has been a major disappointment this season, making last year look like an aberration. He is soft along the boards, slow, and bad at puck handling. Thus, I'm happy he is gone. I'd rather have Shane O'Brien in the lineup over ROB any day. Fare thee well, Ryan. I'll always remember what a bad ass you were for taking that skate the face and finishing your shift.

Chicago Blackhawks March 20, 2013Chicago Blackhawks Blog | ESPN Chicago DENVER -- Chicago Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa suffered an “upper-body injury” on Monday after he was sent into the boards by Colorado Avalanche defenseman Ryan O'Byrne late in the first period.
