Game 59 Recap: Avalanche Power Play Overpowers Blackhawks

Tyson Barrie's big night leads the Avalanche over the Blackhawks. First Period: As usual when these teams meet, the Blackhawks came out flying in this game and pushed the pace hard in the Avs' zone.  Varlamov staved off a few good shots early, but the Avs couldn't find any offensive pushback.  4 minutes into the game had a near disaster when Nick Holden made a terrible pinch to send Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane on a 2-0 breakaway.  Jarome Iginla chased down the pair and slowed up the cross-ice pass, but the break seemed to set the Hawks on fire.  For the next 4 minutes Chicago...

Game 56 recap: Avs defuse Stars, snap four-game skid

Fans at the Pepsi Center had a rare chance to celebrate as the Colorado Avalanche downed the Dallas Stars 4-1 to snap a four-game losing streak. Well tonight the Colorado Avalanche receive a visit from the Dallas Stars, who have won three straight games. The Avalanche are -154 to win this game. Avalanche Still Can't Score Against the Wild; Wild win 1-0

It is now five wins in a row for the Wild as they defeated the Colorado Avalanche 1-0 in regulation Saturday night. The Wild needed just one goal to beat the Semyon Varlamov and the rest of the Avs as Devan Dubnyk recorded his fourth shutout as a member of the Wild. Minnesota came out firing in the first period and were just flat-out dominant. They limited the Avs to just four shots on goal all period as the Wild peppered the hell out of Varlamov for 17.
