Getting ready for Jonathan Bernier

Getting ready for Jonathan Bernier

What should Avs fans expect from their new goaltender (Get ready, Avalanche fans. Bernier could be the team’s best French Canadian goalie since moving to Denver.) The Colorado Avalanche couldn’t have lost a more valuable piece when the Vegas Golden Knights snagged backup goaltender Calvin Pickard. At his best, Semyon Varlamov is excellent, but he’s dealt with both injuries and inconsistency struggles that have left him a liability from a skeptic’s standpoint for the coming seasons. There’s the addition of his overseas goaltending coach to inspire some confidence, but make no...

Colorado Avalanche Goalie Semyon Varlamov Will Have Tools He Needs to Succeed

Now age 40, he started his...

Colorado Avalanche Are In No-Win Situation With Varlamov As Their Goalie

Semyon Varlamov’s tenure with the Colorado Avalanche is one of extreme uncertainty The Colorado Avalanche picked their horse. Semyon Varlamov, fresh off another off-season surgery, will have the net again in 2017-2018 after losing it to Calvin Pickard last year. While there’s no denying that injury contributed to his underwhelming season(s), his ability to stay healthy […] Colorado Avalanche Are In No-Win Situation With Varlamov As Their Goalie - Mile High Sticking - Mile High Sticking - A Colorado Avalanche Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Report: Avs to Sign Goaltender Jonathan Bernier

Report: Avs to Sign Goaltender Jonathan Bernier

It looks like the Avs have found the second half of their goaltending tandem. When the Vegas Golden Knights selected Calvin Pickard in the expansion draft, we knew the Avalanche would be looking for a new goaltender to supliment Semyon Varlamov next season. Now it looks like Colorado is on the verge of signing Jonathan Bernier to fill that hole. Would not surprise me if goalie Jonathan Bernier ends up in Colorado.— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) June 30, 2017 Yesterday Pierre Lebrun mentioned Bernier in connection with the Avs and this morning Bob McKenzie has confirmed the move....
