KHL Rumors: Is Avangard Omsk Coming After Sergei Kostitsyn?

On the Forecheck — Just when Nashville Predators were starting to feel better about this summer's rebuilding effort, what with the Patric Hornqvist & Roman Josi contracts, along with all the anticipation around the fourth overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, we get word from across the Atlantic that the KHL may try to swipe away one of the team's top forwards: The NHL's Nashville Predators may face a struggle to retain wing Sergei Kostitsyn after a source at KHL team Avangard Omsk told R-Sport on Thursday the Russians want him back. Kostitsyn, 26, spent the NHL lockout at Avangard, where he scored 28...

Preds in review: Sergei Kostitsyn

Predators Insider | Tennessean — By the numbers: Three goals, 12 assists and a minus-5 in 46 games played. Salary: Two years at $6 million, expires in 2014. In review: The 2013 season was simply disastrous for Kostitsyn. His point-per-game levels were the lowest of his career. He had arguably the biggest blunder of the regular season when he made an ill-advised change [...]

Preds hope Gaustad fills the Fisher role

Predators Insider | Tennessean — CHICAGO The Predators likely decision to keep Paul Gaustad in between Martin Erat and Sergei Kostitsyn for tonight’s game at Chicago makes sense. The three combined for 10 shot attempts in the Predators’ loss at the Colorado Avalanche last Saturday and played well enough offensively, and were defensively responsible. This first line center role has been [...]

Edmonton Oilers lose third straight game

Edmonton Journal — NASHVILLE — Sergei Kostitsyn has been released from the Nashville Predators doghouse. In the second period of Monday’s NHL game, the Predators flashed a promo on their giant screen for “Best Dog of the Month.” This would have been a mug of Kostitsyn after his bonehead bad line change at Rexall Place last week when the Oilers scored short-handed, but he’s a pug no more.

The 5 Biggest Boners in Nashville Predators History

On the Forecheck — Tongues are still wagging all over Nashville after last night's surprising turn of events in Edmonton, when Sergei Kostitsyn decided to hop over the boards rather than chase down Sam Gagner, leading to a critical goal against in the Preds' 3-2 to the Oilers. Of course, SK74 isn't the only player to blame for last night's defeat, nor for the Predators' disappointing performance this season, but when a play sticks out for being so, well, spectacularly awful, it takes on a life all its own. But Sergei, you're not the only Nashville Predator to ever take a pratfall in the spotlight, let's ...

Edmonton Oilers 3, Nashville Predators 2: Sergei Kostitsyn Gives Up

On the Forecheck — Midway through the third period, with a pivotal game tied 1-1 and Nashville on the power play, Sergei Kostitsyn had a puck get behind him at the point. That happens sometimes, especially when you've got a forward working back there, but what happened next might be the single-worst thing I've ever seen a Nashville Predator do with a game on the line. With Sam Gagner starting to pull away and carry the puck into the Nashville end for a shorthanded 2-on-1 break, Kostitsyn merely turned and climbed onto the bench. Here, take a look for yourself: He completey and utterly gave up on the pl...
