Elias, Henrique, Josefson out for Devils tonight; Gionta, Bernier, Sestito in; Merrill may play, too

Devils forwards Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson all remained in New Jersey after being injured in Friday night’s 2-1 win over Washington and will not play in tonight’s game in Carolina. Devils' Stephen Gionta doesn't think he'll need ankle surgery in summer

Gionta said today was only his second time on the ice since aggravating his right ankle injury from earlier this season in last Saturday’s game against the Islanders and that he won’t play tonight. Merrill and Bernier claimed not to know if they will play tonight. Merrill is recovering from being struck in the...

Carter is back in his usual spot at left wing on the fourth line with Stephen Gionta and Steve Bernier. Bernier was a healthy scratch for Thursday’s 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota as the Devils went with seven defensnemen. Right wing Damien Brunner appears to be the extra forward....
