Rangers vow not to linger on extra-time playoff record

New York Post — BOSTON — Curious about the Rangers’ attitude toward their horrid overtime playoff record? Just ask Steve Eminger whether he’s aware of it. “No, what is it?” the Blueshirts defenseman said coolly yesterday, one day removed from a 3-2 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 1 of this Eastern Conference...

The Blueshirts Blog | New York Daily News — WASHINGTON – The key swing moment of Game 7 Monday night at the Verizon Center was Henrik Lundqvist’s breakaway stop on Capitals defenseman Mike Green, followed by Arron Asham’s slapper on the rush for a 1-0 first-period lead that the Rangers would hold the rest of the way.   But quiet grinder ...

Live Blog: Rangers at Isles, 3/7 - Hamrlik in

Rangers Rants | Bergen RecordRoman Hamrlik will indeed make his Rangers’ debut tonight after being claimed on waivers from the Capitals yesterday, starting on a third pair with Steve Eminger as Matt Gilroy is a healthy scratch for the fourth straight game. Also between last time and now, the NHLPA has consented to the NHL’s realignment plan. So, next season, if this is, as expected, approved by the Board of Governors, the Rangers will be in an eight-team division with the Devils, Islanders, Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, Blue Jackets and Hurricanes. “After discussions with the Executive Board, the NHLPA has given consent t...

Live Blog: Rangers vs. Sabres, 3/3

Rangers Rants | Bergen Record — The changeover from NBA arena to NHL arena is completed here at Madison Square Garden as the Rangers prepare to host the Sabres. Buffalo will be without their leading scorer, Thomas Vanek (12 goals, 15 assists) for the second straight game due to an upper-body injury. The Rangers confirmed what was reported off this morning’s skate, that Stu Bickel remains in for Arron Asham (back spasms) on the fourth line while Steve Eminger remains in for Matt Gilroy on defense. It will be interesting to see how much ice time Eminger receives. After logging a season-high 20:33 in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to t...

Lundqvist, Eminger in, Gilroy, Asham out

Rangers Rants | Bergen Record — Another well-attended morning optional skate for the Rangers as they host the Sabres tonight at 7:30, after the Knicks host the Heat in the NBA matinee (more on that further down). Henrik Lundqvist will be in net as Marty Biron was the only goalie on the ice and Steve Eminger should remain in the lineup with Matt Gilroy staying on the ice late to work with Biron. Stu Bickel will remain as a fourth-line forward (this will mark his seventh game as a forward this season compared to six as a defenseman) as Arron Asham (back spasms) remains off the ice. Speaking of Lundqvist, here’s what I wrote a...

  • New York Rangers News: Steve Eminger Sent To Connecticut On Conditioning Stint
According to the American Hockey League transactions page, the New York Rangers have assigned defenseman, Steve Eminger, to the Connecticut Whale on a two week conditioning stint. This move comes as a bit of surprise, but it was almost expected when you look at the current lineup. Matt Gilroy has been playing very well for the Rangers over the last handful of games, and has essentially locked himself into the lineup on the third pairing. The Rangers have also been playing their best hockey of the season with their current lineup, and there really is no point in changing it very much. ...
